The yellow thing you eat is polenta you eat it with cabbage or sarmale, and the white thing is called telina (celeriac) we use it for soups salads, and many more. Happy ye liked Romania !
Romania has like 10 types of soup that is going to be delicious. What makes them usique in the world is that we use a special fermeneted spiced water named "bors" that gives the soups a delicious sour taste. So please keep trying new soups. I am sure you will not find them anywhere else.
1:02 that is cabbage with chilly spices and smoked pork meat. Usually it's thick smoked bacon. Smoked pork is used in a lot of foods. From hot pot to slowcooked foods to soups The smoked meat is also salted to act like a natural preservative. Besides keeping the meat fresher for longer it also gives a salty taste to the meat. It gives a great taste to the meat.
You forgot: chili peppers and sour cream for "ciorba de burta" (tripe soup), mustard for "mici"" and "chiftele""; also some chili peppers for "sarmale.. :) optional some tomato salad for "frigaruie de pui" (chicken skewer)
23:04 that's bread with olives in it. very boojie, tbh. never tried any and those at 23:18 are called celery roots. you can mix them up with carrots, potatoes and parsnips and boil them together. it adds an amazing flavor to soups and ciorbas & it has great health properties
That's not a lot of bread, the big 1 or 2 kilo bread is a lot, and get this you can find vendors who are selling even bigger breads like 3 kilo or even 6 kilo bread, now that is a lot.
I was curious about your nationality. Until the end of the video. The moment I saw rice being pushed with the back of the fork onto the spoon...I KNEW!
i'm a filipino american who has a romanian wife, based in the UK, it's always interesting seeing other filipino travelers who visit romania for the first time. we will be following your adventures in romania!
honestly food in all supermarkets doesn't even qualify as fast food. You can try the Food Court, KFC, Taco Bell, Spartan or whatever, they are all total garbage. They are the only place in the city that manages to screw up even the simplest of foods, like a shaworma. If you want to try Romanian food, you will have to do a bit of research, ask around and find a proper restaurant that's not a tourist trap. It can be difficult, but it's worth it. What you got there was shameful.
Bc you took the food from that store, which they use bag preprepared corn ,which is not natural. The restaurants have real polenta and it's very yummy ...and mici, the best you can find is piata Obor, fresh made 😃.@@aeyandmel
34:57 - those Mici look like you cooked them illegally... did you use a pan? We literally have a book that says it's illegal to cook them other than on a grill. They especially say no pan.

Borscht has literally originated in Ukraine, so definitely not unique to Romania.
Well done, guys! For anyone watching, I recommend the food court inside the Auchan store. Very good food, tasty and affordable meals.

Just to explain - 1$/1euro = around 5 lei. So if you want to know the prices as a foreigner, just divide by 5.
Love the video :D

Yes it is a bit tricky to find the correct spot, in one of our other videos I think we found the perfect mix (not too touristy and still pretty good)
Hello what name mall or restaurant as start video ? thanks
This is in Militari Shopping

First place you tried the food is the worst place one can eat. If you want to try authentic Romanian food, avoid shopping centre's....
