Too bad sony partnered with services no one uses.
@@michaelthemusician. Spotify has half a billion on the play store.
My point stands.
@@oiitsseanAnd does it have a service for 360 audio?
My point also stands.
@-*KGB*- how am I entitled 😂
@@michaelthemusician. lol I dont get why these people are hating, you're just telling them the truth
@@Blazko877 yep
it's kinda fun knowing that they just made some parts of the composition spinning around which is the same stereo.
This is technically stereo, but it uses HRTF,, Head related transfer function, This simulates hearing sound from your own ears, this gives it a much more realistic feel. This information has been partially derived from Wikipedia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head-related_transfer_function?wprov=sfti1
It’s a binaural rendering of the 360 reality audio mix.

This sounds amazing with my new Sony M4 headphones!
Sure. But it's cheesy as shit.

@@haveaappleday1858 I'm guessing he uses that device to stream music to his headphones
It sounds better with my Airpods Max 😎
the stereo mode was like compressed af
Just on my iPhone speakers i could tell how compressed it was. Sounded mono lol
@@Thegooob95 oh shit, then is really bad hahaha
UA-cam compresses audio
@@samfoxley8972 the stereo mode sounds like crap, the dynamic range is shit and it sounds like 5$ in-era headphones while in the 360° the dynamic range is normal.
It still pales in comparison of sennheiser gsx. Therefore, I'm not impressed
@@mastroitek Sony are some of the best headphones you can get but ok
The virtual barber shop sounds so much better than this, and that was over a decade ago!
Wait till he puts plastic bag over ur head . You cannot believe that it's not real. When door knocked, I went to check if it was my door
Thats because its a binaural recording. Its exactly the same, a human would hear in that scenario. This 360° virtual audio is nothing compared to a binaural recording, like the ones you can find on the YT-channels "The Soundtraveler" or "3Dio" (ua-cam.com/video/aTUKVj0CeHM/v-deo.html) itself.

Sounds amazing! Just shame it only works with apps very few uses. I've not heard of any of the other audio apps other than tidal, and even it doesn't have many master quality songs. And lacks too many songs that Spotify has as well, so it's more like a niche technology since so few services and apps supports it. As i watch movies a lot, I'd use this spatial surround tech every day for Netflix for renting or VLC and MX player for self converted moves for offline movie watching.
For 360 Audio I use your mother as my daily service.
Amazon music has it, and I'm not sure if it's just that app, maybe you can tell me, but it seems to just make all the parts that should be 3d fuzzy and blurry. On this youtube demo it works for me, but when I play actual songs with it, no matter what I use to play them, it sounds like shit
It sounds whatever once you get past the initial "oh cool this sounds different"
Yeah well to be fair I should perhaps try it for real but just judging this video meh it's SRS Wow basically. All though more open. Sorry if you want real surround sound music you have to have the music actually mixed in 7.1 surround sound and done properly. People should take notes on how the music for The Passion of the Christ was done. That's how you do it.
Truuuuuuu😂
I listened to David Bowie’s ‘first’ album at the Bowie 75 pop up shop in NYC last week on an actual multi-speaker system and it sounded phenomenal. The songs with orchestration were particularly stunning. I’d imagine that setup runs thousands of dollars.
❤😂
Sounds great, but the platforms that provide 360 audio are very limited. A few services that no one uses.
True, imagine if they team up with Spotify or some other big music streaming service, their feature would practically explode
True. I wish Sony would team up with Spotify so I wouldn’t need to get a tidal account
I use Tidal.
Using Sony mk4 headphones this sounds amazing lowkey
Sounds amazing on my 5$ panasonic headphones
You're joking, right?

In fact, I have an audio processor installed on my PC and it does this job just as great.
I have a conventional stereo and a couple of 12" buffers with a 500w amp and it sounds even better than some home teathers.
I feel like cinemas are overloading the volume, they sound a little plastic
@@wil-fri well now i'm using all the 7.1 outputs on my motherboard (green, orange, black and grey) with active speakers on each pair plus a dolby controller, and let me tell you man it's magical to hear dolby atmos tests, see movies, play games now I can't leave the recording studio. Just FYI 360 Reality Audio works with any set of headphones.
Yes, but it’s better in Sony headphones
Yeah you're right, it's not really to show off their headphones. Maybe they do promote those a little, but Sony is trying to show off their new 360 audio.
It just works better on sony
Yo yo its cool
@@noflameskateboarding2402 It works better on higher quality headphones.. Sony is at the top of the list with the XM4'S
Dear Sony Team,
Why there are still so less albums in 360 reality audio? Why are the new albums not getting a 360 reality version? It feels like Dolby Audio is just going to kill this amazing tech someday. I am using Sony WH & WF 1000XM3s with Tidal Hifi.
I don't think this is a question that can be easily answered. I believe most "audiophile" tend to become purists saying that audio should be and always will be 2-channels. This drives the market for audiophile devices to focus solely on better frequency response, cleaner sounds, more bit-depth to put as much sound quality as they can into a music. This is also not helpful since these audiophiles seems to promote analog (like vinyl) to be the better quality of music than digital sources.
Then there's the other end of the spectrum that makes up the majority of music listeners. "I don't care about how it's done. As long as I can listen to my music, I'm satisfied." So there's really not that much incentives to "improve" music listening technology because both ends of the market segment are already satisfied with where they are.
So Sony being the awesome innovator, find multi-channelled audio to be the next big step in the music technology. The same way that movies move to surround sound decades ago. But this needs to be driven both from the music producer point of view which is directly driven by the consumer's (that's us) point of view. We need to show the music industry that there is a demand in 360 Reality audio, so that producers see the opportunity there and start producing those tracks.
Now about Dolby Audio, I find this to be a bit more complicated to explain. Dolby doesn't seem to be interested in implementing their multi-channel audio technology like ATMOS into the music industry, mainly because of all the reasons I mentioned above. If nobody is listening to it and nobody is making them? Why would they spent millions trying to engineer a standard that nobody will use.
This is why when Sony starts developing this themselves and starting to gain some traction. Dolby now realised there's an increasing demand to multi-channeled music. And being experienced with their ATMOS for movies, they already have a standard that's readily used for music, so they now feel it's worth investing in their development and start applying them to the industry. Even though Sony started it, I find Dolby already have a proven technology in their ATMOS which makes it an even more appealing standard for the music industry to just apply it there than an emerging standard like Sony 360 Reality Audio.
I love the 360 Reality Audio, but I'm worried that history would just repeat itself in terms of Sony's innovation. They started the innovation, some one else takes inspiration and make their own standard that turns out to be more popular and beat Sony to the market share. Just like Betamax vs VHS.
I'm okay either way, though. I have Xperia 1 II with Dolby Atmos enabled and the WH-1000XM4. So I can use both Atmos and 360 Reality Audio regardless.
I think they had said that by December they were going to have more music in this format. At the moment it is only possible in services and with HW limited to the Xperia 1 II and 5 II.
Dolby Atmos for Music is less complex, i read an Atmos Music file (Specifically Believer - Imagine Dragons) over MediaInfo and the metadata indicates only two AC-4 sound objects, so I think that's why it's easier to produce Dolby Atmos music, they aren't really many sound objects as Sony's 360 RA.
@@JohnSmith-lx7hl neither Dolby Atmos nor 360 RA are multi-channel formats, the term channel is deprecated, it is managed by objects regardless of how many channels the user has. Whether 2 speakers, 5.1 or 64 speakers, none of that matters.
@@ES-qy2ju Sorry, my bad. I was referring to channels because even though these formats are object-based, the algorithm still translates them into 'channels' depending on your speaker set up. You can still have the same object-based format. But if you play it on a single speaker, it still won't sound as good as you were to set up on 7-speaker configurations. The algorithm translates those sound object positions into the channels needed to drive those speakers to give you the best positional sounds. And they can only do so much if you have fewer speaker set up.
The only difference is that creators don't need to assign those sounds separately for each channel to achieve the surround sound effect, but just put the objects in a 3D space in relative to the listener, and the algorithm does it for you automatically. Which again, provides a lot of potential for both producers and consumers alike.
@@ES-qy2ju If there were only two AC-4 sound objects. Wouldn't that sound pretty much the same as stereo? Albeit you can put it in any position you want. But I would expect a single instrument played in a music to have its own objects. So if you're listening to a full orchestra music piece. You would have at least 16 or more sound objects, each with its own position in the 3D space.
Amazing!
Testing my new m4s!
I love this
So thank fully it was not only me who was hearing nothing compared to other 360 Audio sound board app, softwares
Funny how this still works even though UA-cam doesn't support 360 reality audio.
I've got the Xm4s earbuds and headphones. They support Atmos, 360, 5.1, and 7.1.
it's virtual surround sound but you'll still get the effect if you're using 360 reality audio or not.
Every Spatial Audio test (Dolby Atmos, Apple Music Spatial Audio, Sony 360) uses binaural rendering for headphones listening. That’s how you can hear this effect through UA-cam using PCM Stereo output
I just bought a pair of M4's.... the best audio I heard was that banging beat on the audio check via the Sony app. No-one actually seems to support 360 reality audio yet or am I missing something?
I Have Sony White And this Is cool! So much
Guys 360 audio is amazing. Now that airpods max are out and bringing spatial audio to so much content other than just music please open up the format to compete! It's such a cool feature to have relegated to just a couple songs on certain music streaming apps. I wanna be able to watch movies in 360 sound
Technically Spatial audio is one step above for sure as you can move your head inside the audio scene thanks to the gyroscope, therefore the audio 360 audio is great as you can use it on any earphones or headphones!
sounds pretty damn good on the WF-10000M3s
