Ray Winstone in Scum, Tim Roth in Made in England, Gary Oldman in The Firm and now Stephen Graham in This is England. For me, four amazing films about British culture and society, no bs, no fancy gimmicks, just great acting and great writing.
That first scene is fantastic, the interplay between Combo and the guard (forgotten his name) and how they both react to Paddy's character's death. The guard seems like he's been hardened by the years serving at the prison and even though he spends his life in the prison, doesn't know what its like to be a prisoner. Whereas Combo - whose been through hell and probably came close to killing himself before - still has compassion even if its for someone he was scared of and didn't trust.
The guard did it, that's why he projected onto Combo blaming him. He knew he was being a creep towards the prisoners close to their release dates so offed him.

@@thewkovacs316 Aye spot on. If you recall, as someone else has already remarked, Combo instantly recognised one of the blokes from that time he took the little'un to the NF type meeting. I've always believed that he didn't mind taking a kicking off of Milky's brothers and crew but instantly knew there was worse in store for him once he fully realised just exactly who he'd been handed over like a sack of cement too, a group of evil cunts who would have definitely seen him, at the very least, as a race traitor.
