So many people have giant boring walls and their homes lack character. Way to solve this problem. I don't think I would put a modern wall in a new traditional home but in a modern or mid century modern or even a traditional mid century ranch it would be amazing. We have used wood trim on our ceiling to add character and the result made a difference.
I do really like the suggestion already made about the different depth stained panels. I've thought about making wall art with smaller random sized pieces that way, but never a whole wall. The only other idea that comes to mind immediately is something with metal. Corrugated, maybe? Or different types of sheet metal?
Spinning off the sheet metal idea, you could throw in some metal pipework too. Steve Ramsey (WWMM) did a couple small furniture pieces (like a lamp) with galvanized piping that you could use for inspiration. Things like a flange -> 90* elbow -> straight -> 90* elbow -> flange to make a shelf. Tends to contrast well with darker earthy colors, like darker stained woods.
Haha I was waiting for that drop cloth. Looks sick Daniel keep up the good work! Maybe you could do something like this or the last video on a ceiling.
I am in love with this wall man 😍😍😍😍!! Who knew that u create such beauty with thin pieces of wood lol!! I love the black color as well!! It really makes your chair just pop!!! I really loved that blue diamond wall as well.... Love your choice of colors 😍😍😍😍
love love love this design and idea!!! my "wall" dream has always been to decoupage old world looking maps as wallpaper for a statement wall. I thought i would tea stain the paper to make them look aged but i never got the guts up to execute my dream!
Looks awesome!!! There is one I ran across wanted to see if you can show it on your next video? Same design but in the middle like a diamond shape with that kind of trim?
I love these videos! As a new home owner I'm always looing for ways to make my house more awesome to make my friends jelly ; ). Plus I love lowes so this is my channel #subscribed4life #Lovelowes.
I’m gonna try this on my living room wall but my wife wants to be able to hang a canvas on the wall without it being on the molding. I’m thinking a rectangle in the middle to frame in the art surrounded by squares all around it. I’d love to see you do this for me before I try it myself!
HEY, COMBINE THIS DESIGN INTO YOUR BOOKSHELF WALL, substituting the 1X8 boards for these and also modifing the pattern some to be more conductive for holding books.
Maybe something along the lines of this type of design (tedious but cool looking) along the top or chair-rail height? Or includes in sections with another more modern design? img2.embroiderydesigns.com/StockDesign/Large/Embroidery_Patterns/scroll107.jpg
I'm looking to create an "Aztec Tribal Art Wall" with the 1x2 pine boards, however I need more creative juices to help me! I love the tribal star shape and mountain shapes and also somewhat of abstract arrows of the sort... My wall isn't huge, I believe the length is about 12 feet. I'm looking forward to see what you come up with!!!! Please help.
Ooh, that's a fun challenge, Brittany! Just googled for a bit...lots of people have gotten the look using paint colors, but the 3D texture approach is much rarer. Here's an interesting take on it...not full-on aztec persay, and your scale would be a bit bigger w/ 1x2's, but could be really amazing! Esp if you incorporated some bold aztec color combos: i.pinimg.com/736x/ab/0d/fb/ab0dfb6240f458a8b7fd0ae00ee6d216--wooden-beds-wall-wooden.jpg
What about stucco wall made entirely of hundreds of old 8 oz. green Coca-Cola bottles for maybe an outside grill platform, or inside in a living room where the glass is illuminated?
Well Currently I live in Hostel so I can't do anything more than a Wall mural but will definitely give it a try once I have my own house, but seriously it was very inspiring :)
Is it okay that you're nailing the wood right into the drywall? I want to try this at home but I don't know if that's okay for support. Do I need to hit studs?
Depending on the length and design you use, you could strategize to hit at least one stud on each piece. I found, though, that dovetailing my nail shots a bit at different angles created the same holding effect as drywall anchors. Then adding the caulk AND the paint on top of that...it was pretty sturdy.
Alright, I'm feeling it...any particular design or shape you're envisioning? My first thought is you could get a few different depths of 1x1 or 2x2 square panels & a few different stains. Like a textured mosaic thing. Thanks for the suggestion, Sulema!
If you were to use 2x10s or 2x12s you would have places to stack books or wine bottles.....mmmmm wine wall... Also, chalk board paint is a similar color and would have changed the direction towards something even more playful.
Love the bookshelf/wine rack hack idea! You'd just have to anchor those longer pieces to the floor and ceiling somehow for support. And yeah, chalkboard paint could make it into a fun kids shelf. Thanks for watching & keep the ideas coming, man!
Yep! So, you've got a couple options on baseboards...some designs would allow for just removing it and installing the design flush to the floor (i.e. faux brick, wood slice mosaic, bookshelf). This stud wall design, though, is probably better suited to keep it in place if you have one already. You'd just measure from the ceiling to the top of the baseboard vs. the floor. If your baseboard has an ornate lip to it, that might look a little weird installing flush to it, so you COULD remove the old baseboard & install a new one using the same 1x material that you used for the design. Does that make sense? 😬
Yea that makes sense. Because the studs are wider than the baseboard, I would think it might look a bit odd to not replace it though. If not, the studs would most likely hang over the baseboards. Thanks for the reply! I'm seriously considering doing either the stud wall or the diamond panel wall
was that semi gloss paint? I see allot of reflection coming off the lightbulb. Would eggshell be better or would it make the room too dark since it's a dark color anyways?
It was actually eggshell...might go with flat for these darker colors next time. Wouldn't worry too much about it being too dark, especially if you have some good sources of natural light. Makes it cozy feeling!
MsY1080 it's a matter of preference, but I think I'd still go dark with a flatter sheen. You can get some really cool effects with some well-placed floor lamps, uplights, sconces, swag lights, etc. What kind of room is it?
Yep. There's at least a stud or two to hit along each plank, but all others are just going into the drywall. For these lighter materials, you don't need too much more than that. If you want a little extra holding power, you can dovetail the nails a bit by shooting at opposing angles.
Absolutely doable and looks perfect.. If you don't mind could i ask for your name sir ı'm sure you share more of your projects on your instagram or sth :)
Yep, bedroom, living room, etc...I think this design lends itself to a larger wall, so anywhere you have a blank wall wider than about 12' or so is a good candidate!

Whoa! Haven't delved into metal yet, but I might poke around at the store for a bit now....
That was so much fun! The end look of the matte black is gorgeous. What a great series! Please add more!
Janelle Fike stay tuned, more to come. Be sure to subscribe to see Daniel's next project first.

Ooh, very cool. You could also install the piping flush to the wall and make a pattern out of it...it'd be really industrial! Thanks for sharing.
This looks really cool, but honestly as a homeowner, I see it as too many nooks and crannies to dust. hahaha
I'll just pull out my little cordless blower (low.es/2u2XHka) every week or two 😂
Then she could also have extra vacuuming to do. The dust will then go all over the place.
I think I would paint the walls and pine decorations black first before I would attach the pines.
omg so true
My first thought exactly!
Haha I was waiting for that drop cloth. Looks sick Daniel keep up the good work! Maybe you could do something like this or the last video on a ceiling.
Daniel Johnson thanks man! And good call on the ceiling...that'd be pretty unique! I think I'd use construction adhesive for that one, just in case 😉
That’s badass! Could you do a video showing how to do a grid design on the wall? Thanks in advance!
This is a great idea for a series. Can't wait to see what you do next!
Appreciate it, Nichole. I've got a CRAZY one I want to try, but I'm not sure if y'all are ready 😬 Wanna hear some ideas from you, too!
DANIEL! I love this. More more more plz. So good bud
I could watch you all day.
I am in love with this wall man 😍😍😍😍!! Who knew that u create such beauty with thin pieces of wood lol!! I love the black color as well!! It really makes your chair just pop!!! I really loved that blue diamond wall as well.... Love your choice of colors 😍😍😍😍
Thanks, Diane! This one was super simple. Give it a shot! 💪
I need more Daniel, the guy is hilarious. Also I'd like to see a wall with wooden lattice for texture.
Thanks Sarah...and I love the lattice idea!!
-Daniel
I WISH! Those look so amazing.
I love geometric look. Would love to see something with all kinds of triangle shapes
It's on my list, +1BestCookie!
Lowe's Home Improvement great can't wait to see it. Hope comes out cool
How about something that has different depths in some sections so you can actually use the wall for some light displays or storage?
KFColonelSanders definitely! You'll have any cool examples you've seen? I have one saved that's like a puzzle wall for kids. Thanks for sharing!
love love love this design and idea!!! my "wall" dream has always been to decoupage old world looking maps as wallpaper for a statement wall. I thought i would tea stain the paper to make them look aged but i never got the guts up to execute my dream!
If you can find enough good-looking maps, you should absolutely do this!! Execute your dream 💪
Not my cup o tea design wise but still very cool and creative. Awesomely done vid too.
I look forward to doing this...in a nice color as well. I would love to see you do squares!
Hi, my dream wall is a 3d triangle wood tiles with led. I love the wood grains and with led it's looks so amazing.
Okkkkk so this is perfection, and I am feeling inspired, and think I am going to do it along the wall behind my dining table...
Do it, Timothy! And let me know how it goes!!
Beautiful. I would love to see it two tone gray.
looks so elegant
I'd add some horizontal bars on the left (3? That go down like stairs but spaced) so u can place some small items for decor :)
Love your videos - Could you do storage inside the walls - attached to the studs?
I've actually thought about this quite a bit for myself personally! I'll stew on it a bit, Candi...thanks for the suggestion.
In the back of a closet - is one way to do this - it doesn't make the closet smaller.......
Maybe with a hinged door to hide it with mirror or ?
Looks awesome!!! There is one I ran across wanted to see if you can show it on your next video? Same design but in the middle like a diamond shape with that kind of trim?
Yes!!!!! My next project!!!
Another wall, yay!
Gotta love these videos 😎
Appreciate it, Maikel. Glad you're into it!
Man I wish they continued this series
That looks amazing... Really like the idea
Yay for the drop cloth!
Something with threads and nails. I have seen some cool artwork with threads.
I love these videos! As a new home owner I'm always looing for ways to make my house more awesome to make my friends jelly ; ). Plus I love lowes so this is my channel #subscribed4life #Lovelowes.
The reveal song was really fitting in this one, haha. So glad I found this channel!
Do a wall that integrates a photography/picture display really nicely
I’m gonna try this on my living room wall but my wife wants to be able to hang a canvas on the wall without it being on the molding. I’m thinking a rectangle in the middle to frame in the art surrounded by squares all around it. I’d love to see you do this for me before I try it myself!
Woooo! Try an aquarium wall! That would be epic!
OMG I love these videos!! When is the new season coming out? CAN'T WAIT!!!!
HEY, COMBINE THIS DESIGN INTO YOUR BOOKSHELF WALL, substituting the 1X8 boards for these and also modifing the pattern some to be more conductive for holding books.
It’s gorgeous!
I love the Intro🙌🏽🙌🏽
I would try to put there few books :D maybe I would also install some shelves that would look great with this design :) Great work btw!
Lowe’s has one of the best channels on UA-cam. Whodathunk
Daniel, where can we find more of you?! Social media?
Haha, just here for now, man. You outta subscribe, though...I've got more in the works!
-Daniel
Love it! Question. What would one do about covering the gap between existing floating floor and wall, since there is no baseboard
Absolutely gorgeous!!
Very entertaining! Could you try some Grecian inspired types of designs?...With a "Daniel spin" on them of course. ♥☺☺
Ooh, I like it! Do you have any examples??
Maybe something along the lines of this type of design (tedious but cool looking) along the top or chair-rail height? Or includes in sections with another more modern design? img2.embroiderydesigns.com/StockDesign/Large/Embroidery_Patterns/scroll107.jpg
Love the idea of incorporating that detail into a broader pattern...thanks for sharing!
Or what about a will made of reclaimed squared 4" cider posts of varying depths to create awesome textures, smells, and colours?
This is gorgeous!
Thanks Kim!
This is actually really cool
I love the really subtle shade he threw at himself for the first video when he forgot the drop cloth 😂
At 4:48 , it's getting interesting. Cool video!
Haha, I was tempted to stop there! Very 80s glam ✨ thanks for watching!
Hehe, I really like your videos. You're a cool dude and very talented. (And I hope to see your black socks more often in your videos) ;)

This is everything I never knew I wanted
Could I make a request on a wall that hide wall defect like past popcorn wall :) thanks!
Ohhh yeah. Popcorn is no fun. I'll add it to the list, Catherine!
Thank you :) I am looking forward to it!
You should make a confusion wall.
That is so cool!
Hexagons would be cool
Rachel Tomlinson
Sounds hard. :)
Curious? Why didn’t you paint the wall before applying the decorative strips?
Awesome job! But you make it feel like I'm watching a kids show lol
What about stucco wall made entirely of hundreds of old 8 oz. green Coca-Cola bottles for maybe an outside grill platform, or inside in a living room where the glass is illuminated?
it would have looked very cool to have the 1bys to have a slightly lighter color
Came for the stud wall stayed for the stud
this is sleek! loOoVe it!
Thanks +aongv!
That is Beautiful!
Thanks Sanjeev...you should give it a try, man!
Well Currently I live in Hostel so I can't do anything more than a Wall mural but will definitely give it a try once I have my own house, but seriously it was very inspiring :)
A full-wall mural could be amazing!
I did one last year, s12.postimg.org/q2ik7qwil/facebook.png will make new one next month :)
sanjeev yadav that's really beautiful!! Thanks for sharing...a tree branch concept could be cool!

Something with wood stained panels with a modern design?!

Lowe's Home Improvement no design in particular but something budget friendly where I can compensate with creativity. Thanks for the reply!
awesome!!!
A wall with old wodden picture frames. Doesn't need to be filled completely, just as a pattern design.
Love those old wooden frames...the patina and distressing are just so tasteful 👌 Thanks for the idea!
About this wall, can you paint the wood before you screw it on the wall so you have a easier time doing it with 2 colors?
Absolutely! That'd be the best way to do it if you're going for dual tones.
Love it
If you were to use 2x10s or 2x12s you would have places to stack books or wine bottles.....mmmmm wine wall...

I love it and wood love to try this, but I need help
I’m wondering how long that wall was.
Any tips on how to handle if there is baseboard? Maybe that's not the right term but I mean the trim where the floor meets the wall
Yep! So, you've got a couple options on baseboards...some designs would allow for just removing it and installing the design flush to the floor (i.e. faux brick, wood slice mosaic, bookshelf). its look awesome.
Thanks Manjeet!
hey youre left handed, cool!
Good eye, +Yoda Man 😉 And happy (belated) Left-Handers Day!

Lowe's Home Improvement I guess the bulb must have been allot closer that it looks. How about for dimly lit rooms any color/finish advice?
MsY1080 it's a matter of preference, but I think I'd still go dark with a flatter sheen. You can get some really cool effects with some well-placed floor lamps, uplights, sconces, swag lights, etc. What kind of room is it?
MsY1080 here an example of a dimly-lit, dark room that look moody and nice: pin.it/e7eft6H
Do an optical illusion type thing
Is this just a nail gun straight into the drywall?
Yep. There's at least a stud or two to hit along each plank, but all others are just going into the drywall. For these lighter materials, you don't need too much more than that. If you want a little extra holding power, you can dovetail the nails a bit by shooting at opposing angles.
COOL!
Ayy hes left handed too!
Groovy!
Do you know what you could do in an 1984 manufactured home?
I don't know the specifics off the top of my head...does it have drywall, or vinyl walls?
nice new youthful look~but I'm going to use it anyway ; )
I'd be down with smaller boards, also the wall is not that tall, just sort of long!!!
Do some chainsaw/weed-eater/ leaf blower anything to do with yard work
A chainsaw wall...we're really getting abstract now!
Lowe's Home Improvement that would be awesome
Hermoso diseños
Why on earth wouldn’t you paint BEFORE putting the boards on the wall???
Absolutely doable and looks perfect.. If you don't mind could i ask for your name sir ı'm sure you share more of your projects on your instagram or sth :)
Oh and an idea for future projects; maybe try to add in some other materials like glass, metal or stone and try to mix n match?
Love the alternative materials idea...thanks! Oh, and right here on UA-cam is all you'll find me on for now :)
Omg this is bomb
i can only handle one off kilter stud at a time!
Would've looked even better if you used a black wood stain on the face of the studs and then sanded to the grain.
Where can you place this in a bedroom?
Yep, bedroom, living room, etc...I think this design lends itself to a larger wall, so anywhere you have a blank wall wider than about 12' or so is a good candidate!
More epppppp
No one wants to dust that
Do a fishing wall
Popular Chris Nice! What do you think...Nets? Trophy fish? A built-in aquarium?? 🐟
my mom walked in right at exactly 3:57 while my speakers were playing on medium-high, not a good day for me
I will warn everyone, do NOT use dark dark colors in a room with very little natural light. You will have a cave! Repainting is a chore too.
de great wall
