De-register and factory reset an Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Generation)

Please note that the process that we demonstrate in this video, is different from the advice that Amazon offer. So if you are planning to lend, give away or sell your Amazon Echo Dot. I deregistered my echo dot and reregistered it again. After I register it days it has to update and the light spins yellow. After an hour it says it cant update and the light turns purple. I cant use any commands or anything, help!

Simply run through the setup process, using the same Amazon account that you previously used.

Hi Richard
Place the 3rd gen echo dot in setup mode - ua-cam.com/video/SMFbqUPrZBI/v-deo.html will allow you to use the Alexa App to reconfigure the dot with a new amazon account or wireless access point.

When it’s spinning its keep spinning and doesn’t even restart

USB leads and power bricks do not all provide the same voltage. So if you are not using the original USB lead and power brick that came with your Echo Dot. Try changing both of those items, ideally for originals.

WHAT EVER YOU DO...DO NOT DE-REGISTER IT!!! YOU WILL NEVER GET IT REGISTER AGAIN. JUST SAYING. MY ECHO DOT 3 IS JUST A PAPERWEIGHT NOW.
THEY MAKE IT SO EASY TO DE-REGISTER BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO RE-REGISTER IT! GOOD LUCK
