  • The new 70/SS is a custom production model now available by Trans Am Worldwide of Tallahassee, FL. Designed to pay tribute to the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport, the 70/SS is based on the GM alpha platform and comes in a variety of trim models, each with distinct characteristics of the 1970 Chevelle. Powertrain options range from the base 6.2 liter, to the heritage 396 or the limited edition 454 LS6X. Trans Am Worldwide outfits the new 70/SS with a full carbon fiber body, redesigned interior, reminiscent of the original and offers a variety of colors including a heritage line, originally available on the 1970 Chevelle. Modern tri-stage colors complete the list of over 20 available color options. Combined with a plethora of leather interior color selections for their customers to choose from, Trans Am Worldwide has made the new 70/SS a truly unique ordering and driving experience.

My Dear and beloved father STILL HAS his original 1964 Chevelle, He has it in a barn in San Juan Puerto Rico. The paint is not original. He had it repainted at least 5 times that I remember and it looks outstanding. Dad is now 84 and recently told me to “ Come get the car” He was a Jersey City police officer and giving us a great childhood, beautiful home and upbringing… This is his baby. Now he is passing it down to me. It will be back in New Jersey in August of 2024 Lord willing.

Sixteen in 1974, first car '68 Mustang 289. Two things really miss from that era - chromed steel bumpers & fat tires. Think were icons of the era. Have actually seen one photo of a "steel" front bumper on the 2024 SS's, but suspect like everything now it's chromed plastic.

Nothing has changed the was the American economy works. Supply and demand is what controls the price.
Not only that this is far from the same car. It looks like the 70s cars but all the technology is from today dependability, suspension, brakes, handling, twin turbo, the amount of horsepower is putting out, then you go back to my original comment it's a matter of how many are available and how many people want one that's what affects the price.

Being a former owner of multiple Chevelle's ( 70 SS 396, 70 307 Malibu, 70 350 Malibu, 71 SS 350, 72 4 door Malibu hardtop, 68 SS 396, 67 SS 396 with a L-88 427) this brings a tear to my eye. You captured the pure essence of the 70 in a modern interpretation. It's beautiful, although I can still dimensionally see the Camaro underneath, but that's not a deterrent, it's almost a necessity for a modern platform. Waaaaaay out of my league price-wise, but there's always the hope of hitting the Mega-Millions Jackpot. Yeah... I know, I ain't holding my breath lol. I guess I'll just have to make do with my 77 Impala with 525 rwhp until then.

I 100% agree about the '70 Chevelle. When I was a kid in the '70's - early '80's that was one of the top cars for teen drivers to get for their first car. Black, white stripes, raised in the rear a little, deep dish Cragar SS's in the rear, standard in the front, lettered tires, and chrome tip duals out the rear. To really top it off, a racing cam to make the idle sound throaty hit-and-miss. The thing is, for the time, these cars were already expensive. Where you could buy a typical used car for $500-$750, these were often $1500. A LOT of money back in circa 1978! HAHA.

If these cars were being produced for the masses, they'd sell, 100%.
I practically LIVE solely for my '87 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am. That's my little girl, my only child, and she's treated accordingly. Yup, I spoil her constantly. I'm the guy who takes the wheels off EVERY TIME I give her a bath. People think I'm crazy, for the way I fully detail the undercarriage, yet alone the fact that I do it monthly or more often. My little girl wins the trophies and the cash prizes, so she's worth the dedication.

The target market is all the retirees that wish they had that car when they were teenagers. Now that they have their money that they saved ,they either want to race the car or invest it, keep it and maybe hold on to it for their children. Unfortunately there's a low amount of cars that are going to be made so therefore a lot of people won't get the chance being able to buy one. You won't be able to make them fast enough and I'm sure the price is going to be through the ceiling Great design Good luck
