ABOUT THIS SONG
Genesis is the title track of our first EP and is lyrically inspired by the story of 'Ghost in the Shell' by Masamune Shirow.
“Born into nothing, brain linked to cyberspace” this is what it sometimes feels like when you come back to consciousness after two hours of scrolling through social media. The algorithms of these platforms became so powerful into knowing us and our preferences that it is sometimes nearly impossible to withstand them. The logical consequence would be just to not use them anymore yet we still want to stay in touch with our friends, our idols and don't miss out on anything. We become addicted to this feeling, these platforms and dissolve into the digital space.
In this video you see a human who becomes addicted to these “substances” which is happening violently fast and completely self-inflicted. It is a metaphor for our mind trapped between wires and a plastic world. This process just keeps happening until it wipes out everything left human. Just like both us humans and our attention span is transforming into nothing more than a product. “Genesis” - The creation of a new globalized human mindset dictated by economical exploitation.
