Finally, someone that will actually tell people where to get the effin samples from lol, It shouldnt be such a secret! New people need to know this stuff too!
Thanks so much! All cymbals are Meinl, they are: 15” Byzance Jazz Thin Hi-Hat 18” Byzance Traditional Crash 20” Byzance Extra Dry Ride 20” Byzance Trash Crash I sometimes also swap out the ride for a 22” Benny Greb Sand Crash/Ride. Snare wise, my go-to is the 14x5.5 Yamaha Recording Custom Aluminium Snare
Great video thanks. I'd like to use this instead of an acoustic kit for our wedding band to have better vontrol over sound levels, shorter setup and takedown times, everything really 😅 is it possible to replace an entire kit and the sounds are useable ?
Thanks so much! I would look at something like the Octopad or the new SPD-SX PRO to replace the full kit. Just purely as it’s nicer to play/better samples/more control over samples. Plus with something like the new SPDSX PRO, if you wanted to expand that to external pads, you have enough trigger inputs 😁
HELP when i connect the USB to my computer , the screen on the SPD sx says computer connected, but then i can NOT do anything, my other issue is when im done with a sample I cannot record over that pad or drum kit, it just goes silent on me, Ive called sweet water when I bought my unit they shipped another new one, but same deal same issues HELP as I have a gig in 10 days and need new sounds and samples
So with the USB to the computer, the SPD has two modes. The one you’re seeing is “Wave MGR” (which stands for ‘wave manager’) and that’s connecting to the wave manager software. You won’t be able to do anything on the SPD itself, but you will be able to import audio via that software on a computer. If you want to use the MIDI through USB, then go into Menu -> Setup -> Option, and change the ‘USB Mode’ to ‘Audio/MIDI’ using the plus and minus buttons. In regards to the sampling on a pad, are you trying to record over it in the SPD itself? What happens if you make the sample on a computer and import into the SPD?
If you’re using the in-built sounds, you can duplicate the kit or each pads to a new one by hitting the ‘Quick’ button, then down to ‘Pad Copy’ or ‘Kit Copy’ depending on what you need!
Hi Mate, thanks 4 your useful videos, can U help me, I have a tv show gig and I play drums on SPD SX,sending pad sounds to aux in on DJ console(loops from DJ console too). I wanna hear click on booth speaker near me but U cannot send clicks to subout and also the pads sounds to the sub out... Is there any solution? 🙏
Thanks so much for the kind words!! One option for this is using the headphones out and sending that to your speakers, that'll give you both pad sounds and the click, but you won't be able to control the volumes of each. Or, you can send the pad sounds out of the 'Master Out' on the SPD, and then the click on the 'SUB Out'. With that, you can then send click to your speaker and also take a feed from the DJ so you can hear everything. I hope this helps!!
