What is Avid Media Composer and what is it used for

Avid Media Composer, is an all-in-one video editing software, made by Avid Technology.
It was originally released back in 1996, and since then, it has been one of the most used editing software for filmmakers and video editors in the industry.

Wrong! The Avid/1 Media Composer was introduced at NAB 1989. Not in 1996 as you state in this video.
