    Grading companies just love when people spend money to get moderns certified.

      I really don't understand the appeal. They will almost all come back either 69 or 70, and you can't really tell the difference between those two with the naked eye. I'd rather own a modern proof set in the original mint packaging anyway.

    I would try to see if NGC would fix that weirdly holdered one. I personally wouldn’t say this submission was a failure. The two 70s are really nice, and you didn’t get any 68s! I have never heard of the light finish error, but that is really interesting. Thanks for the good video.

    Interesting video. I've never sent any coins in for grading. I've heard claimed that the mint casings can actually mask some scratches that will show up once removed. Perhaps that is what happened. Personally I'll like always be in the market for non-70s. The price is lower and coins like you showed here are still beautiful.

    Congratulations! I’d personally like to know how much it cost you; how difficult the process was, and did PCGS appraise them or provide you with an estimate of what they should sell for? Are you up, breaking even, etc..? As a new collector, I just feel super intimidated by the process and the high costs.. ya know? I understand if you don’t want to answer, I’m just curious..

      for ngc : i know the min. is $17 for grading, $5 xtra to put it in a holder, then $10 processing charge, plus tax and shipping x2 "to and from" ... i have heard a good rule of thumb is the coin should be worth at least $200. then if they find something wrong with it they will put details on it and not grade it. so i have found that grading companies SUCK !!!! ever notice on these videos nobody ever says what the spent ?

    I'd be very disappointed -- Obviously, PCGS is NOT the only really tough grader. They all have the same standards, or they should have! I've got ANACS 69's that I swore would bring 70 but did not. Same with ICG -- but being as frank as possible, it galls the daylights out of me that some people pay more money for a PCGS slab than an NGC or ANACS, etc. Whenever they do this, they're perpetuating the myth that somehow PCGS has higher standards ......they don't.

    Why would you pay to get these modern proofs graded professionally, just curious?

    • @fcsuper
      @fcsuper 4 роки тому

      Check ebay for the differences between 68, 69 and 70 for most modern coins. Even when rarity is not a factor and most coins (more than half) get the 70 grading, 70 gets higher returns. Also, these NGC cases are a better than what the Mint provides for long term storage and protection. The risk is that if you don't get the PF70 and you expected to make money, then you might be screwed.
