I took coin grading one and coin grading two at the American Numismatic Association's Summer Seminar... I find it amazing that PCGS graders could grade around 1000+ coins per day, with rather great accuracy! Nice job!
Wow that's insane. For an 8 hr work day that means they're grading a coin in roughly 2 minutes or less. I'm sure it can vary a little some coins may take less time or more but still that's a crazy amount of coins to look at!

I am collecting the new Orleans $10 gold eagle no motto and it's got to be only in a pcgs holder. Talked to any dealer and they will tell you the same thing. There's a big difference in price between ngc and pcgs. I saw a lot of new Orleans $10 gold in a ngc holder and I asked a lot dealers if the coin can cross. 99% of them say no. You will have to pay more for the coins in the pcgs holder. Sorry but that's just the way it goes.
Gloves numb your fingers and make it easier to drop a coin. If you are capable of properly holding a coin (by the edges, not touching the face) then wearing gloves is not needed. Gloves would severely reduce efficiency by making it harder for graders to take out/put in coins into their holders as well as add a higher risk of dropping/damaging the coin.

most numismatists dont use gloves because they make it easier for the coin to slip out your hands and fall. Holding the coin by the rim with clean hands is just fine.
I went to a coin collector many years ago in bound brook NJ AND he wasn’t very helpful and I know he got me for the coin I sold him. Trust is a major issue. I need an honest coin collector to help me with my many other coins
I´ve seen people remove the Graded coin in this cases and then put in a new coin, same brand and year. Secondary market you don´t know if it is the rigth coin in that case. I own one of this graded coins, never again. Great video tho, but c´mon USE Gloves. Merry Christmas all.
grading companies : we might grade your coin , but if its close to lunch or friday evening then it gets a details grade or sometimes we spin the grading wheel , then we spend your money on drinks. and if your not a big time customer just forget it

People, if you know what you're doing, and understand your own body, you don't need to use gloves! I processed thousands of rolls of c41 film in the 80's, never left a finger print! You certainly can't use gloves processing color film in a dark room! :)

Personally, I like NGC, ever compare actual coins graded by both (like Lincoln Cents for example)? PCGS leaves me wondering WTF more times than NGC!!!!! 😂 Seriously though!
Overall, PCGS's grading standards are bit more conservative than NGC's, although their grading is identical around 90% of the time. Curiously, NGC's copper color designations are stricter. But PCGS's coins, including copper, almost always bring more than NGC's due to the market's perception. Just check auction prices realized for proof.

Nope, I have only seen a few fakes in PCGS holders out of millions examined. PCGS buys their extremely rare mistakes at fair market value.
So if all the PGCS graders are working independently, doesn't that make the grade very subjective to that grader? 🧐🧐🧐
There are all professionals. They have been studying and training coin grading for years. You can't just get that job nilly dilly so the bias is low

That's difficult to find five coins to get graded.
Yes, you can get a single coin graded. Minimums are typically only for specials or bulk submissions.
