Not on oily, acne-prone skin. I use Tret at night, a daily Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser, followed by a salicylic acid toner, and do an AHA/BHA peel once per week.

@@yamiletbruno2031 Not necessarily. Its usually not recommended precisely because a lot of people dont know how to properly exfoliate and can overdo it. But if you know how to professionally do it and as long as your skin can take it then its totally fine. Dr. Dray talked about leave on exfoliants and this was her advice. Skin can become resilient as you increase the frequency and potency of exfoliation.
In fact this is how people can get chemical peels. Literally by increasing the potency and frequency of exfoliation. It's like training your skin to be resilient to the point that it can take chemical peels.

List of products For stubborn texture on face:
1.) Cetaphil 2% salicylic acid cleanser (likes to put it on skin in the shower and rinse it off at the end of the shower)
2.) Skinsmart hypoclorous acid spray (spritz on before skincare routine and after cleansing--more affordable than the tower28 hypoclorous acid spray)
3.) The IT cosmetics bye bye breakout serum (comparable to the Paula's choice 2% salicylic acid serum that is popular but) this one also has lactic acid AHA and a postbiotic ferment as well as the 2%salicylic acid BHA.
It is applied every single morning after the hypoclorous acid mist from skin smart.

The Skin Smart product in your video says it's a cleanser on the label. I'd never heard of the brand so I looked it up on Amazon and they have several versions. The one that's for eyes, nose, and mouth areas looks the most like a leave on spray to me, but they also have a wound care one. I'm wondering if you showed the wrong bottle in the video or if the cleanser in the image is what you are actually using as a spray. Sorry, just not familiar with the brand. Also I agree with the commenter who asked for images not to be reversed. I know it's convenient because phones default to this view, but it makes it really hard to view products (I literally paused my phone and held it up to a mirror to read the label). Either that or description links would be super helpful. Thanks!

Be careful about the cleanser shower tip. I tried it on my mildly sensitive skin and it burned the whole shower. I rinsed it off before I was even done with the shower (after having it on around 3 minutes) and my skin turned red and splotchy in many places. I’m not saying this can’t work on some people, just be careful and it might be a good idea to use a very gentle cleanser.

I haven’t heard of the brand before as I have dry skin yet got patches for first time got the it cosmetics like it and cetaphil has coupons you can print of there website for all of you to save $4 and if u shop at CVS there is a deal if you buy 2 items get $8EB so wouldn’t cost much using the $4 coupons on one and can get a item that’s less making it a great deal.
If abbey or anyone knows where spray is sold in store I would be greatful to know especially since going into hospital for surgeries and husband tries to wipe skin among put stuff on as since skin is so dry it hurts if he doesn’t get to try to do my face once a day when I am not having tests or before I have my 3 surgeries unless have to have spine reconstructed as terrified about that as I have rare neurological disease called SPS among 26 others from it and am paralyzed as I can’t sit or lie on 99% of any item being a paraplegia so does more for me then nurses as was allowed to be with me during Covid 24/7. As I pray u all never get sick as I had 2 companies was going to start after caring for mother I lost to MS when husband became a RT, type of doc not able to practice. Once we move and if I get surgery needed and certain trials done that work I will be praying to have a company as I will be reaching out to you Abbey since u love item I want to make that will be gone soon Abbey you love. As again I pray all of u and loved ones stay healthy as I went from perfect health playing tennis with husband among dancing day before too as have since age 4 to genes I inherited hitting me and overnight rushed to hospital ajd coded means died for first of 4 times now all from paralysis. And my husband had to stop practicing as became my caretaker and no fashion company with my friend became sis or father yet now couponing instead of having a life of no suffering and so I will keep all in my prayers tgat u follow your dreams. And as Abbey shows that “ nothing is impossible, the word itself sais I’m possible.” Sorry for novel as thanks to anyone who can let me know about spray as I am sure using the face wash once in a while as Abbey skin isn’t dry so I can’t use a face wash that will make mine worse by drying it out. Yet can do spot treatment as the serum works fine on my dry skin. Thanks abbey and best of luck to all that uses products.🙏😇

It depends. The cleanser is usually fine to use. You only need it to make contact with your skin for a short amount of time. It also depends on the cleanser itself, she uses Cetaphil but I hate it. I got Cerave 2% SA Acne control cleanser with ceramides instead and it works amazing. I use tretinoin, been using it for almost 2 months and don’t have any problems. Skin is clean, soft and moisturized. Now, if you get a random pimple you can use a SA treatment just on that spot and you should be fine. You just shouldn’t use both tretinoin and a SA treatment all over the face at the same time. Dr Dray has a video explaining why you should use a 2% SA cleanser if you’re acne prone, even if you are on tretinoin.

    • @countesselizabeth
      @countesselizabeth 10 місяців тому +2

@@ninakara585 no not necessarily, hypochlorous acid is not an exfoliating acid in itself, it's just a disinfectant and anti-inflammatory. But in high concentrations, it can be incredibly damaging especially alongside other exfoliating acids.
As for your skin problems, i wouldn't blame the hypochlorous acid, but rather the buildup of sweat and dirt on face that causes clogged pores and irritation. Because you need to use a cleanser on your face after working out and not just desinfect your face.(ignore this if you already cleanse your face)

Acne prone skin is complicated. It reacts to things “normal” skin doesn’t, and might keep breaking out even once you stop the product. So yes, you have to come at it with products designed for acne prone skin to get the breakout under control. Just like some medications can cause a yeast infection for example, and you have to take different medication to get rid of the yeast infection.

Normal skin texture and bumpy texture are not the same thing. She had texture caused by a breakout…no, not normal.

Is not that simple when you have acne prone, reactive skin. Sometimes you try a product and it breaks you out, so you stop using it but the breakout just won’t go away. That’s when you have to come at it with the products mentioned (or whatever acne products work for you). I was having the same problem she mentioned and was using a Benzoil Peroxide wash to try and get rid of it. It help a little but was still breaking out, which meant microbes weren’t the problem, my oily skin was. Switched to an SA cleanser (Cerave, not the one she mentioned) and problem solved. Didn’t even have to throw away the product. Decided to give it another try. Turns out it works great after the cleanser change.

No she’s not, but Dr Dray is and she recommends using a 2% SA cleanser if you’re acne prone, even if you are on tretinoin. She has a video on it, look it up. Abbey is not claiming to be a dermatologist, just sharing what worked for her. If it was a sponsored video she would state it, (as she always does when videos are sponsored) and there would be links to purchase the products. I for one really appreciate the video. I was having the same problem she describes when I saw it. Went and got a 2% SA cleanser, not even the one she mentioned as I hate Cetaphil, and problem solved. I didn’t even get the rest of the products. That you prefer to get your advice from a professional I can understand, but telling people to not believe her when you haven’t even tried it and obviously have no idea why SA works for that problem, is just showing ignorance. To anyone wondering if it works, it does. You don’t have to buy the exact products mentioned . e.l.f. Skin has a SA acne spot treatment that works great for $4, and Cerave has a much better SA cleanser than Cetaphil, specially if your skin is dry or sensitive. Unless you are sensitive to SA, what she’s recommending should work great for most. Worked for me.
