Weird how so many players and GMs don't like art saturation...I guess I'm with you in the minority, I LOVE this kind of book. Great game too
Great review, as always! Side note: I loved those sidebars in the 2nd Edition Players handbook too! Lion & Dragon looks great though, I dig the gritty more historically accurate/authentic style. When you play it you're going to definitely have to come back and give a recap. I'd love to hear how it plays! How the mechanics actually work in gameplay, especially as it relates to the magic system and magic users, summoning, alchemy and astronomy sounds awesome and dark, the way you described it reminds me a bit of LotFP. BTW... You can never have too much artwork. Who complains about too much art? Crazy!

I love the game, it's rapidly become my favourite (just beating basic fantasy) but the paperback I got from Amazon had a load of errors in the creature section, missing stats and such. Does the hardback have that problem and if not where can I get it because Amazons print on demand has let me down with crappy covers that fall apart way too many times now on way too many otherwuse good books.
I don't remember my copy having any errors, but let me check and get back to you. I also enjoyed some of the supplementary pdfs he put out for this as well, especially the one on Astrology and medieval magic.
Mine was the attack bonus for satyr and frogmen soldiers.
I have Lion and Dragon, Dark Albion, Old School Companion, and Cults of Chaos by him. Arrows of Indra looks very interesting as well. His books are top quality, they really convey an authentic medieval setting.
