We're back with our Oslo Travel Guide! This one is definitely worth the wait as we explore this beautiful Norwegian city.
Oslo is one of the most beautiful cities in the world...and also one of the most expensive! But as we explain in this episode, there's a reason for Oslo's costs. Great food, beautiful scenery, friendly people...Oslo has it all!
Thanks to our friends at VisitOSLO for their help with our Oslo episode. For updated information on events, attractions, restaurants and bars, head to www.visitoslo.com. Need assistance while visiting the city? The Oslo Visitor Centre by the central station is open every day of the year.

Great video! Your guides are always appreciated. As an Oslo-citicen, i would like to add a couple of things about alcohol prices: Yes, in general prices on alcohol are extremely high. But if you know a little bit about it, it won't be as bad as you think. For example, Norwegians usually drink alcohol bought from stores either at home or at parks (though public drinking actually is forbidden). This is considerably cheaper than buying at a restaurant or bar. One 0.5 litre of Ringnes (plain Norwegian pilsner) can cost you up to 80-90 kroner at a bar. Buy the same beer in a grocery store and you get it for around 25 kroner.
Also, there are bars with much better prices. For cheap beer i reccomend these two: Samfunnet Bislet (40 kroner for a 0.5 pilsner) and Fyrhuset Kuba.

I live in Oslo, and yes I know it is super expensive compared to the rest of Europe. But what people don’t think about is that Norwegian wages are one of the highest in the world. When tourists come here, it is more expensive for them, because they don’t earn as much as Norwegians do.

  • @kaiaaune

It was really interesting watching this video on how you experienced my country and my Oslo. I feel so extremely proud of this little kingdom when you talked about the friendly people, green airport, good social systems etc, and i literally held my breath when you were going to say how much that glass of beer cost! hahah! Even norwegians think it is expensive here. Thats why norway (except oslo) dont have a massive culture of wining and dining outside at night, like the rest of europe. Thank you for visiting Oslo. You should definately visit the West of norway. Because that is really the essence of our country. Mountains, waterfalls, trolls and little cities.

It's interesting how you ended talking about the people- to me they were they strangest part of Oslo lol. The residents were unbelievably beautiful and that stuck out to me be bigtime, but they were also very awkward to talk with a weren't really helpful due to the awkwardness. The city itself is beautiful, everything is upscale and it's like if the Upper Eastside Manhattan was an entire city. I barely saw much middle class stuff, let alone lower class part of town. Everyone who lived there seemed to want to leave though, that was also noticeably strange.

There are plenty of homeless people in Oslo. Mostly because of the open border policy with the EU, but still, there are a lot of Eastern-European gypsy beggars sleeping, pissing and defecating in the streets of Oslo, with all the usual crime that follows them everywhere they go. Not so much during winter, though.

You are describing most of Europe, just saying. Just consider the rest of Europe does not have 6-month long winters with temperatures touching -25C.

Yes, but there are also Norwegian homeless in Oslo.

What's the name of the island you were on ? I'm going to Oslo next week and was planning to visit one of the islands but don't know which one is worth checking out

Nice review, though Oslo is quite a mid-sized airport. I would only call it small in comparison to LHR, FRA or CDG. It's bigger than most capital airports in Europe
