The citizens of Bangladesh did not elect Shekh Hasina as their prime minister. She came into power through the manipulation of votes with the assistance of India.

It isn't just Maldives and Bangladesh. Even Hindu Nepalis and Buddhist Sri Lankans think India is regional bully that throws its weight around and inteferes in the internal affairs of its smaller neighbours. Ask any Nepali about the blockade in 2015, or any Sinhalese Sri Lankan about the Indian role in Tamil separatism in northern Sri Lanka. If everyone in our neighbourhood thinks we are meddling in their affairs, it means our regional foreign policies need an introspection and recalibration. Else, China is just waiting to take advantage of all this and build influence in our neighbourhood.
We really appreciate India for helping us in the most difficult time of our history and for giving us the independence. But India must stop interfering in Bangladesh's politics, hatred is increasing in the general people for India, and if India doesn't I'm afraid relationship between both the countries will go worse in the near future.

They helped us during our hard times as a friend.... Thay have been our friend... The problem is there has been no democratic voting system in Bangladesh since the 2014 election. I know it's Bangladesh's inner issues. Since 2014 India has been indirectly involved with this issue. In 2018 the opposite party attended the election but the vote was done before the night of the election day using police and administration power. Bangladesh is now one party state. There was pressure from the West for the 2024 voting system. but Seikh Hasina did the election again without an opposite party. There was a visa restriction from US, but they are now silent.
Now, in 2024, the opposite party thinks that India manages the Western country to keep hasina in power. This is the main reason. Delhi should focus on its neighbors like Male, Bangladesh, Nepal etc. you can see there is no good relationship between Delhi with its neighbors.
