    Bought one but the connectors to the battery were faulty. Genaray we’re less than helpful, wanted me to pay all costs to return the light from Australia to the US, after 3 emails they still failed to give me an address to send it to.
    I was going to buy a further 10 but not now.

    OY! I just bought 15 of these for my company. they DON'T keep their power on setting. if you string these up in a studio, with a switch at the end. turn them off. then turning the switch back on, you have to MANUALLY walk around powering up these units. ridiculous. I have an email to their support now to see what can be done.

      Yea, these are not really studio lights. They are more for run and gun. I made a recent video about why I now don't recommend these. After a few years of use, I have discovered a lot that I dislike about these lights. However, I still use these light for specialty reasons, so it's still a useful light on occasion. Really depends on the use. I use these for narrative work when I don't need to record sound.

      @@Ranger7Studios Damn, I just ordered one of these! Not sure what Matthew means by "they don't keep their power on setting." Does that mean the power suddenly cuts out???

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  3 роки тому

      @@ratt57 So if you have this attached to a light switch and you flip the switch off, you will have to manually turn the unit back on via the power button. Also, if you pull the battery or cut off the light, it does not save your settings. This is a really great light though. The barn doors cut exceptionally well on this light and the daylight is super bright.

    hey was just curious about fan noise. some reviews say there is a little and some say nothing... how loud can it get? not recommend for interview recording sound?

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  4 роки тому +1

      It starts up after a while and while you can hear it, After a while, you don't notice it. SO it's really not that bad. If you are using it as a hair light or getting it some distance from the mic you should be fine. It doesn't seem to pick up in any of my mics, so you're good.

    i many never other lighting for years but I just ordered 3 of these and have enjoyed unboxing before my gets here tomorrow. I'm wondereing, however, if barndoors are generally extendable? they look pretty small in the video and I would actually lilke to contour-block some of the light .... hopefully by extended the barndoor.

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  5 років тому

      The barn doors are small and they don't "extend" as you say. They only extension you will get is if you flood the light. The unit extends when you do this, but its not the barn doors extending.

      Try clipping on pieces of Black wrap. You can cut shapes or ragged edges for special lighting effects. You can also have custom Gobos made.

    Is the power comparable to came-tv boltzen 55w?

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  5 років тому

      How do you mean power? Do you mean output or wattage? I've never tested the Came-TV so I'm not sure, but this one is pretty bright. I am in the mists of testing this against the Godox SL 60W. That will be coming out in the next week or so. But I really can't speak about the Came-TV without testing it. Hope that helps. :) If you ask me though, the Came-TV has better features like no fan and it can run on a full battery. The Genaray will only give you half the battery life on a full charge, so this is really for wall plugging only. Given the choice again, I would go with the Came-TV.

    would you choose this light over the came-tv 55w? thank you

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  5 років тому

      No, I would not. The Came TV is much better. It doesnt have a fan and its battery last much longer. When you plug s battery into the Torpedo, the battery only reads at half charge. So you're only going to get half the time. Even with the largest battery. So I would go with the came tv.

    • @RobDunlopPrettyInWhite
      @RobDunlopPrettyInWhite 5 років тому

      @@Ranger7Studios Are you aware that the Came TV model won't let you go to 100% brightness with battery power, it's capped at 50-60%? Maybe they both suffer the same problem. I was only looking at this unit because it seems like the Came TV model is a no-go for battery use in practice.

      Actually this has been around longer. It's similar but it's its own brand. Genaray is actually a well know professional brand.

    • @JamesDBuzzard
      @JamesDBuzzard 3 роки тому +1

      @@Ranger7Studios I was curious about this as well so I looked around at Genaray's website and they do infact have all rebranded products from the looks of it. Even their new 40watt light is a rebranded Chinese light from a company called Wellmaking. Came-TV has been around much longer than Genaray. Also their is no way this light can pull 60watts from a NPF battery only because NPF batteries only can put out around 40-48watts max at full charge. The original Came-TV 55 watts that came out 3-4 years ago only used a single NPF battery and had the exact same issue as these. I'm still curious about the Genaray's though since they are only $450 for all 3 and the Came-TV Q55s are about $1000 but do have app control and a nice controller and you can group them. I have the Q55s and love them. Was looking to pickup more lighting for the studio and ran into this video 😊. Great video man!

    Genaray is B&H brand, B&H copy Came-tv lights . The copy one is bad quality.

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  5 років тому +1

      Actually that is false. Genaray is its own company. They sell on Adorama and Amazon as well as B&H. While this is a clone of the Came-TV, the Genaray is built better. It has more heft to it. The Came-TV ones feel like if you drop them they will crack and break. Also, you will get the same half life battery on a full battery with the Came-TV 55W as on the Torpedo. I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. The Genaray Torpedo is not bad quality at all. It's actually the opposite.
