Ride with MN Conductor “Train Man Paul” GCT-Southeast with full rear RFW M3 run back to GCT. 4/22/22

- We start with him in an empty M7 car doing a brake test at GCT. He has a most unique talent on the PA System. If he wasn’t a railroader, he would most likely write poetry books. At Southeast we swap our equipment for an 80’s built Budd M3 for run back to GCT. Trip is narrated with some additional comments from Conductor. He slipped up announcing Pleasantville next stop instead of Chappaqua. He is human. 😀😀😀. A fun and entertaining ride!!!

Crestwood my brother stop. He just started working for the MTA ,I sure will tell him about conductor Train man Paul 😊. Hopefully he’ll see him one day! God bless you Tim
We need some more videos with "Train Man Paul"! He's so upbeat!
God help us!
His positive energy is infectious.
Great video!!!! i got an M3 today from North White Plains to Grand Central and 8023 was leading today!!!!!
Paul is an awesome conductor. Always fun back when he was on the New Haven Line either getting on one of his trains, or having one of his trains pull in whilst railfanning. 😁
This conductor have to be one of the best conductor I ever seen on metro north
Their are many great conductors!
We love you Paul I miss you so much I miss riding the new haven line with you you always made it fun your the best we love you keep up the good work
Metro North lucky to have Conductor “Train Man Paul”. He's a good ambassador.
What a great conductor! I love his energy and attitude.
Great ride, nice to meet Trainman Paul. I used to live between Thornwood and Pleasantville years ago 🙂♥️
Absolutely a fun and interesting ride!! Conductor Paul is very adept at his job and poetic humor. Great scenery too!-
My only experience on this line is to/from White Plains.
Thanks RR for posting this video😀😀💚💚
Conductor Paul must love his job excellent video as always!!!
Great video
Dammmm Train Man Paul is the coolest engineer, conductor. Keep them coming my Bro. More Life. More Health ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m forever a huge fan of yours. What a fulfilling great ride hehe.
He’s so funny we love you Paul
congrats on 25 years strong.! the man himself.! i hope to ride his train one day
I just got a job with Metro North as a coach cleaner!! I hope to hang out with him in an employee lounge soon!!
This conductor is SO AWESOME. Oh my goodness, what a great narration! A great companion to your great narration.
Paul is one of the, "The Master Conductors Of Metro North"...great friend, and always friendly towards railfans! Talks to you, not down to you! :)
I like this conductor and the flying yankee good video
Thanks for sharing an excellent video. Very interesting. We really need Train Man Paul on our trains here in Australia. It would certainly make travel a lot more interesting.
Before I die I have to go there!!!
@@3985uprr I was quite impressed with the scenery between Southeast and Grand Central. Despite being a city, the scenery there looks quite rural with all the green surroundings to the line. It reminds me of the Glen Waverley train line here in Melbourne Australia.
1:21:54 lmaooooo, that motel charges way too much. I actually saw bedbugs there once. Haven’t been back since.
Other than that, great for seeing trains all day lmao.
Not a priority vacation destination.
@@3985uprrDefinitely not for vacations. Great for other “quick” tasks. 😂😂
I remember that big Metro-North accident where two trains on the same track collided on the New Haven line in 1988 near New Rochelle, the front car on one of the trains jumped up and got tangled in the catenary wires, sparks flying everywhere, Metro-North and Amtrak service was an absolute mess that day, OMG!!!
Retired railfan, this was an awesome video I really hope I get to train (pun) with train man Paul after taking my upcoming test for metro north railroad in the future months or at least operate an m3 or m7 with him aboard 😀 👍. It be pretty cool to see you both aboard..for the ride. Hope you doing well healing up fast. And shout outs to John Terry 🙌 lirr if I got that correct and ghost engineer. Being that of engineers training in the front cab was probably one of my former co-workers I use to work with.
My surgery is next week.
@@3985uprr God speed and hope it goes thru with Ease 🙏 and to see you once again with your great videos im sure Paul and i will be pleased!!!
Enjoyed the rear view. Thanks RR
Congrats for survivng a roundtrip with that effing buff (j/k) Great Video
😂🤣😂🤣
Double P.
He is the man the myth the legend.
Definitely two thumbs up ! Thanks for the trip with "Train Man Paul" .
Metro north railroad WIth go to Penn Station soon
Very entertaining ride! It’s fun getting a different perspective on riding suburban rail transit elsewhere. I’m a lifelong Chicagoan who’s always accustomed to riding the Metra and C.T.A., but always wanted to see what it’s like to ride the suburban rails in N.Y.C. Thank you much!
Love that he speaks in poetic verse
The M3s there look very clean.
I live in Florida I went up to New York to see my father family and friends. I was going to see my aunt and my uncle in Yonkers NYWhen I was in New York City 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue that’s where Grand Central Terminal. I saw Conductor Train Paul. I love trains. Of course I took a picture of him.
Chock fulla pride,
Ensures a fun ride,
My favorite train,
Is the engineer's bane,
But the best EVERY day,
Is the M-3A!!!!!!
😁😁😁
What was the reason behind the cancellation of the Putnam line? I did a little research online and saw the map. it looks quite the route. They should bring it back.
I met him once. He’s a cool guy.
At 34:33, you are correct in saying that restaurant looks like a station, that’s because it was once the former New York Central/ Penn Central Katonah Station!
I was sure of that.
Conductor Extraordinaire. You the best. ❤👍🏽One of the best. Good man. 🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Random comment here but: If anyone ever wanted to model Grand Central in Train Simulator, the NYPL has at least half of a longitudinal section available at original resolution (consisting of 2 pages) - and the other half of this longitudinal section + track diagrams from the station's construction available, but at a tiny resolution unless you wanna shell out $50 per page. Ugh.
Excellent !! Shooting video from the rear cab sure beats the lousy shots out of a side window. Especially dirty side windows with the Sun shining on them. Since the conductor was so friendly and agreeable, I wish you would have asked him to take a few minutes of you. Many of us would like to see what you look like...if you match what we imagine you look like from the sound of your voice.
By the way, we don't call that "left-handed running". We call it 'wrong rail'.
Years ago, I was fortunate enough to have ridden the old New York Central electric MU cars with the openable windows and the 'walk-over' rattan seats. Did you ever have the thrill of riding packed trains of those cars coming out of New York City in the P.M. rush hour on a hot summer evening with all of the windows open !! The whine of the gears and traction motors was exquisite, at speed along the Hudson River all the way to Croton-Harmon. A thrill I'll never forget.
Don’t go by the sound of my voice. I hardly look like Rock Hudson. 😀😀. If I have a dirty window I try to recover the scene with my commentary, otherwise it would be a lousy and boring video. In case you are curious. ua-cam.com/video/LOW7f_gQX_Y/v-deo.html
Glad you had fun!
I love Paul he’s awesome!
I see the Stamford Yard Deadhead all the time! Can depart at anytime from 3:30-6:45p.
Is that a Danbury train set that goes to Wassaic or Poughkeepsie or even back to Danbury???
@@3985uprr 95% sure it goes back to Danbury as #1882, the last Danbury Direct. I have seen the same equipment on both trains every time I have seen both on the same day. Usually I don't stay for #1882 however because it passes at 8:25. I don't understand why Metro-North has no 7pm hour Danbury trains but a very late 8:01 to Danbury. It arrives at 10! I believe the equipment comes off of #1867 when it terminates at South Norwalk.
A great ride and an excellent video. Sorry, I couldn't make that rhyme.....
Can't make the rhyme??
Try your best,
Step up to the mic,
And put it to the test!!
Trainman Paul was fantastic
They still have trains terminate at Mount Kisco. Every other train during rush hour.
Terminate and originate
Storage track looked very rusty so they must either reverse move on main or continue to Southeast.
@@3985uprr Probably, I looked at the schedules and that would make more sense. All of the New Haven Line trains that terminate at Harrison keep running to Stamford Yard. It does not make make much sense to me because they have to operate so slowly because they get put on the local tracks. Yesterday the New York Railroad Enthusiasts showed your documentary on the LIRR in 2019 and it was great!
@@CTrail1711 What documentary? Those videos from GF Productions? I didn’t think they would show those there
@@3985uprr Yes
11:02 who saw him at the window
Way to Go....Paul
You won't be to do the head end ride in a million years. I just saw the LIRR video and was shocked you were allowed to "distract" the Engineer.
I was not inside where the engineer is. He was not distracted!!!
EXCELLENT....thx
So nice to see a train guy who so genuinely loves his job. Enjoying your channel and have subscribed.
Nice to know the M3 trains are still running!
P.S: I always enjoy your well-informed and enthusiastic commentary, but wind sometimes is very distracting. Have you considered getting a more effective wind-screen for your mic? It would definitely improve intelligibility in such conditions.
Did Paul ever say why he hates the M7s and prefers the old and smelly M3s over them?
He hates the systems on them. He hates the roaches on them. He’s into the old stuff.
@@3985uprr I’ve never seen roaches on them so I don’t know what he’s talking about. But he said he loves the M8s which I thought are very similar?
One day would you do a video on a train ride from New York to Atlantic City that would be an awesome video
Yes, and when here, visit me. We don't have direct train service from New York City to Atlantic City, unfortunately. Yes, that would be awesome if it could be done. Many years ago, when I had passenger rail service returned to the Atlantic City Line, Amtrak ran trains directly from NYC to Atlantic City. It required a tricky reverse move at Shore Interlocking. Sadly, Amtrak pulled out of the Atlantic City service in a cost cutting move. Ridership was never what had been predicted. The trains Amtrak ran from Atlantic City directly to Washington, D. C. were packed. I still remember how crowded the Atlantic City Terminal was when those trains were boarding.
nice! love seeing the M3As still in action! why did you remove the gladstone video?
No I will put it up I just posted that in error instead of this one
Love it! Thank you for this. How was your Easter?
Very nice. Yours too I hope
@@3985uprr Was pretty good. No complaints.
Why does the third rail alternate between inside and outside?
wait M9's were canelled? is the mta insane M3's arent gonna last on either system in 15 years
What train symbols does Paul Presente Work on?
He’s on Facebook. You can connect with him.
Did they really do something as stupid to cancel the M9 & M9A contracts another reason this governor needs to go
well mta burned the bridge with the company that buiklt them there only 100 cars short on Lirr for GCT expersion opens in dec 2022 this was a bad move by the mta govnor has no say in this she wouldnt happy if that ever becomes known to the public M'3s arent gonna last many more years idk what the mta is thinking

1:00:42 Ow, a train hitting a bald eagle? Did I hear that right?
I don't wanna think about what the paperwork for that is like.
Call it in, our dispatchers have to notify the police, and the police must handle it from there. Lots of laws and restrictions to even handle a dead bald eagle. Very very sad to see it!!!
A shame when it does happen, but at least (if it was dead on impact) it didn't suffer (if that can even be considered a bright side).
Sick of the masks
Sick mask, now it's a thing of the past. No need to see the crew, they'll have nothing for you.
OK ..BEATS ...LOL ...I GOT BEATS LOL ...
