On a serious note, Darby try to lie on your back without a pillow and sleep for a while, even if you have to take something or drink alcohol to be able to relax enough to go to sleep. Take ibuprofen before doing it. You need to release inflammation and you've got to relax to do that, which is especially hard when you are in pain. I also recommend drinking some Natural Calm, which is magnesium citrate (epsom salt is magnesium sulfate) that you stir in water and drink. When we don't have enough magnesium, our body gets and stays tense. It helps with muscle soreness but it also helps with anxiety because of that. I find it helps me sleep sometimes too. I hope you are able to rest, heal and feel better soon.

Thank you for sharing that your back has gone into haywire pain mode, such tings are horrible. Until you shared I was wondering if you had taken some sketchy drugs but the looks on your face make much more sense that it's pain. Hope you heal up as soon as possible. Watching this during my lunch break was the best decision I've made this week.
Darby - I'm so sorry about your back. I started having horrible back issues in my early 40's - finally had to have a ruptured disc partially removed. I had shooting pain up and down my left leg for 8 months. It was terrible - i ended up being on Tylenol 3/4 for almost 6 full months (that's another story in itself). Take care of yourself - sometimes you just need to take time to let your body heal itself. FYI - using your core is great. I had been doing yoga for almost ten years before my surgery - but it really didn't help when my disc decided to flip out. Yes a strong core is important, but once your back is injured - you HAVE to give it time to heal. (also, wet farts underwater could lead to other issues..... :P)

As a back pain haver... FARTING IS HEALING!!! One time I hobbled to a massage therapist, I could hardly walk. She did some magic hip point and I let out THE BIGGEST LOUDEST ABSOLUTELY CATHARTIC FART (dry, thankfully) and I melted into the table, but then I was 100% cured. Since then, anytime my back gets wack, I do belly massage, make myself fart. I swear to JESUS THE ONLY SON OF GOD- it helps every time. My theory is that farting lets out the back demons that would otherwise build up inside your body and stab you in the back with their red hot pokers.
