My dad died from stage 4 colon cancer on June 3. He was 86. It's been a weird combination of grief and relief. He loved me, but he had been reading a lot of Fox news approved things that I felt like he was miserable from it but clung to it because he felt so at odds with how weak he was as he grew older. Unfortunately the rage filled rhetoric of hateful people in power really seems to inflate those who are not rich and powerful. Thankfully me and my sisters have been there for each other throughout our lives so I'm glad y'all have each other. Loved this episode!

I grew up in a Baptist church with very close-minded people. My aunt went to war when my cousin was chosen to room with the first black student integrating her nursing school. Luckily my cousin stood up to her and Athena and Gina became lifelong friends and were in each other's weddings but that was the first time I saw my aunt and the people in that church for how mean and close-minded and racist they were. It also made me grateful that MY mom was not like that. I still feel so lucky to have had a tolerant, loving mom.
