I discovered The Fugitive in the late '80s when I worked until 3 a.m. and it was the only thing on when I got home. It instantly became my favorite show of all time, and to this day I still think it's one of the best shows ever created. I had never heard of David Janssen prior to this, but it is so apparent when you watch The Fugitive that the man was an outstanding actor.
better late than never. Can you imagine, this is the list of actors that starred in this series in the late 1960's. it reads like the top 10 TV seriers of the 1970's... First, the great movie actor Robert Duvall in one episode. Bruce Dern.......then we have , William Shatner, Jack Lord, Telly Savalas, Carroll O'Connor,Ed Asner, Angie Dickenson, Jack Klugman, and of course, Scottie and Bones of Star Trek
David Janssen’s subtle strength & believability resonated in his every performance. He was a rare gem: a handsome yet modest & unassuming actor who gave 100% to every role he undertook. Incomparable as the wrongly-accused Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive, he warmed our hearts in every episode. Sadly, his own tender heart gave out at 48, but he will live within ours forever.
I have just acquired The Fugitive box set and am enjoying it immensely. He had the most beautiful, sad and expressive brown eyes, a lovely speaking voice and he also had class. An adorable gentleman.💖💖
I adored David Janssen and was so happy to know he was a kind hearted man besides being a brilliant actor and so handsome...LOVED him as the fugitive and in the films I remember....so awful to lose him at only 48....you can see how his lifestyle took a toll on him in later photos...REST IN PEACE beautiful David 💜🌹
I met David Janssen when I was a little girl. My parents were looking at property in Nevada City / Grass Valley area of California. It was a scorching hot summer day and they decided to visit the historic National Hotel in downtown Nevada City for a cool drink. My mother, who was a big fan looked over towards the bar and said to my Father, "Isn't that David Janssen?" He said, "It sure is". He was dressed in a beautiful black tuxedo and even at a young age I thought he was very handsome. My mother reached inside her purse and pulled out a pen and note pad and handed it to me to ask for an autograph. I bashfully went over to him and politely asked for his autograph. He was so nice! He said, "He'd be honored to". He then asked my name and began to write. I still have his autograph in my scrapbook from 1973. It reads, "My pleasure, Vonna.. Thank you, David Janssen."
He always looked so sad to me.He looked like he had a troubled soul.He looked like he cared about people.I loved the Fugitive.He was borned to play that part.
I loved David Janssen, he was awesome. I loved watching him in The Fugative. The fact that he was against the Viet Nam war and that he had a kind heart, doesn't surprise me. You can see it all over his face!
Yes and he was very generous ... his friend actor Peter Phelps talks about how a woman who had six kids lost her home and everything in a fire and I think she did not have any insurance . Phelps says David Janssen replaced her house and many of the possessions and he did this anonymously .
As a young teenager at the time in the West-Indies, I watched the Fugitive every Wednesday at eight o'clock with the entire family. This was a weekly EVENT that could not be missed. It was very exciting and suspenseful and caused so much anxiety to viewers. Most people could not wait for that one-armed man to be caught and brought to justice. When the final episode was to be aired, the public was well notified in advance so everyone who had a TV was glued to it. For those who didn't have a TV, they went to a neighbor or a friend to watch. It had that kind of effect on people. My mother always said that playing the part of the Fugitive made David Janssen a very solemn and sad person. He literally was always looking over his shoulder. He had a presence but it wasn't the kind of presence of say a Gregory Peck or John Wayne. Janssen's presence was one of sadness and sorrow but I guess that reflected how good of an actor he was.
I have always been a huge fan of David Janssen. He made it look so easy. It’s nice to learn he and Clint Eastwood were good friends. They share that coolness and calm in their acting style
I knew David Janssen and Henry Darrow while in the Navy, I had a friend that was his driver and met David on the set of Harry O at the boat on the Coronado Island and after getting to know him I was a stand-in on 3 of the episodes but my favorite scene was on the Farris Wheel in San Diego. David Janssen was one of the nicest people that you would ever meet. David would have to take a nap around 12 noon or so every day because of the drinking while on set. We had some great times and went to many parties at Henry Darrow's house during the years I was around him and the crew on set. One of the best memories was a scene at the San Diego University where there was supposed to be a Lincoln Continental that went over the hill and crashed, it was supposed to be a different location. While waiting for the scene to begin, myself, my wife at the time, and Ron, David Janssen's driver were at the car and I jumped on the front of the Lincoln to sit for a bit and the hood ornament went through my right butt cheek and the doctor on-site had to sew me up. When the Lincoln was sent over the hill it went about 20 feet and stopped sideways so the crew and I went down to the car and we had to lift the passenger side of the car and roll it down the hill 20 to 30 feet at a time. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life knowing David Janssen and the crew with Henry Darrow, another saint of a person.
wot a great memory ,my bro and i watched an old black n white episode of fugitive on hols,,recently ,,so when i got home i sent my bro the last 2 episodes of that series ,,by todays standards the fight scenes were a bit lame ,,but we both enjoyed rewatching the episodes ,we could hardly remember as teens ,,ha ,,my old mum loved david too ,,different times ,,,
I was a bit surprised to hear he was so compassionate ! He awesome acting on the Fugitive makes you think he’s a quiet brooding man but I’m pleased to hear it was only his great acting that made him seem that way! He’s one of my favorite actors!
I GREW UP WATCHING THE FUGITIVE AND ALWAYS LOVED DAVID JANSSEN. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO WATCH HIM FILMING A BIT OF THE FUGITIVE SHOW DOWN IN SAN PEDRO, CALIFORNIA. I WAS SO TAKEN WITH HIS HUMOR AND GENTLE WAYS WITH HIS FANS AND WAS SO GRACIOUS AS A HUMAN BEING. I HAVE MISSED HIM.
For me it's not so much a person's looks but their voice, such as James Mason and Richard Burton etc you can hear their voices on the radio and exactly who they are. David had that kind of voice. Loved him in Harry O in which another two favourite actors appeared Henry Darrow and Anthony Zerbe.
I've wanted to know about David Janssen like this since I was young. His dedication to all the time he worked explains why a lot of his performances were ahead of his time. Very great video. Liked and subscribed.
David Jansen had a good impact on my life. I wanted to be like him. I knew he was good. I was only eight when the fugitive started it is my favorite tv program of all time. It’s my favorite because I felt like I was in the room with him , I was only 8 years old , but it’s hard to put into words how watching someone like he was in the fugitive can make you want to be good. Some of the episodes still make me cry today. I wish he was still alive today.
I had the pleasure meeting him while playing hookey from school..he was filming “Generations” on the lower East Side of Manhattan. He was my number 2 hero, my dad was number 1. Got his autograph and lost it over the years...what I would give to have a autograph picture of him...a gallant, decent man and wonderful actor...
He had a lot of depth as an actor. Good looking, nice manly voice, what can you say? Good thing we can go back and watch his old movies, and of course, the great Fugitive episodes. You are missed, Mr. Janssen!

They were both good looking men, but they really don't look the much alike and certainly had entirely different personalities. Believe the gossip and you'll identify many other "children" of Clark Gable.

My youngest son has portfolio photos that greatly resemble both Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise but absolutely no relationship other than also being an actor. Like my eldest son said, "He had that look" meaning this is what they are seeking in the movie industry. I had not really considered it before, but if we look at any particular time period, many of the leading actors heavily resembled each other. It doesn't stop at actors, however. There is a man in Australia, actually a not-nice guy, that I ran across a video of that I would swear is my father when he was in his 40s! He not only looks like him, he sounds and moves like him - they could literally be identical twins born decades apart, but not even distantly related. I send a clip to my sister and she saw it as well. It was eerie. Everyone has at least one "double" out there which is not surprising since there are only so many ways the same features can be assembled to make a face. In 1978, a dear friend came into my office and was furious I had snubbed her at a night club previously on Saturday night. I was home with my family, but to this day she does not believe it was not me!

We ALL loved David Jenssen's persona as an actor; But I wonder if there are any x-wives or girlfriends who would agree with me that David had a very nasty-rude side after a few drinks when he wasn't getting enough attention? Yep-I saw the very tall, well-built handsome man come in to BJ's Lobster house, one Sunday night-didn't see a lady with him, now I don't wonder why not? I was singing an old standard around closing , propped up with my guitar and amp behind the piano, singing a request at about One AM. The man, who had been sitting at the bar drinking alone, "ran" up behind me, and tapped me on the shoulder, and said in MY mike' "Let's not have any more of that crap, let's do Melancholy Baby for the crowd !" What the heck?My answer , "But of course!" And there wasn't much left of "a crowd" either ? I wasn't going to argue with a drunk, and then, I also finally recognized him as he turned around!I could have simply taken a "break" and let him have his show, but thought it best to try to "work with him" as best I could. (I believe he might have been offended that I hadn't asked him for an autograph?) Thank God I knew the chords, and was not bombed at the time, myself, having had a glass of wine four hours prior! I tried to harmonize with him as best I could to cover how aggressive he was acting, but his solo was simply all over the place ! BJ's was a great hang-out for employees from the Pierpont Inn, down the 101, and the Ventura Cadillac car dealership lot to the North; and the tips were better and the output less demanding, so I' d refused a Sat. night gig and chose to sing on Sundays and Mondays instead. I kept wondering " What's this guy doing, driving around drunk at one AM ? Perhaps he didn't have to punch the clock like allot of us have to on a Monday morning, right ? True Story, BJ's was located a block away from the California St. exit , Ventura, California and has since been redesigned into a Mexican Restaurant. Bet he would'a liked my rendition of "I Fall to Pieces," done classical-style, and when he said "none of this crap," he was referring to a country song? Anyone ?
@@lyndafayesmusic It is sad how drink can turn a basically kind person into a monster. U were correct in ur way of handling the situation. Under the influence, I suspect David could be a really nasty person. I've known a lot of people who turned into Godzilla after a couple of shots.

I always felt that he was down to earth and when he pass away was very sadden by it. I used to look forward to what he was in. And always thought of him as being a stand up guy. He would be 80 if he was still alive.
I grew up watching the reruns of the fugitive back in Perú . We loved this show, with great content . It always had valuable lessons about human nature. 👏👏🙏🙏 RIP fugitive
I recently watched the fugitive and I wanted to find out more about Janssen. I’m in my 30’s and I think this show would be enjoyed by all who are lucky enough to see it. Janssen was most def a stellar actor.

I love watching The Fugitive on DVD 📀. Saw that show in syndicated reruns growing up in the 1970's. Every day a new name ie Harry Conners, Don Sinclair and a new city ie San Diego, Philadelphia, Chicago etc. He played a newspaper reporter in The Green Berets with John Wayne and Shoes of a Fisherman.
well, how many of you never ever noticed jansen's ears! i, for 1, never did. i always liked his voice & his mannerisms. oh, i watched the fugitive reruns just last year.
God, I loved this man ; my only problem with his character was that he was the worst fighter for someone who seemed to constantly be involved in fisticuffs due to his position. Also, whenever I see Mr Janssen I'm always reminded of my father who has been gone from this earth for 39 years. My father wasn't that big on tv, except when " THE FUGITIVE " came on .
I thought he did ok in his fight scenes. I loved the show, but what bothered me was that the stunt men who stood in for him on occasion didn't resemble him very much at all.
I am very sad for him by accident and I remember the days when it occurred to me to mention today how much I hurt for him. This is life, how insignificant, unfortunately, we are all gone, we are only memories, God have mercy on you, Mr. David Jensen
My brother and I used to watch The fugitive Every Sunday when we used to go and visit our nanny . we sit there and watch it ...then we go home and tell are dad that we’ve just seen him on the telly! They was the image of each other! And it didn’t matter how much he denied it we knew he was the fugitive ! We thought it was a secret actor . We told everybody . It was a much nicer era then .
I never noticed his ears until you mentioned it. I watched the fugitive when it first aired back in the 60s when I was a kid and it was mom and dad’s favorite show.
When I watched the fugitive as a child I would ask my mom why he looked so sad he's on the run my mom replied no not Dr Kimble David Janssen something in his eyes I loved him so 😢😢❤️❤️
I remember that better too. I loved Harry O! My mom wouldn't let me stay up to watch The Fugitive when I was younger but I hid in a part of the hall that she couldn't see and caught it a few times. Caught the reruns later. It's a great show too.

Always enjoyed him onscreen, including what I thought was one of the best tv cop shows around, "Harry O!" Great actor who'd have definitely made even more of an impact on the big and silver screen had he lived.
He’s a once in a lifetime actor. The smoking, drinking took it toll on him and the cause of his passing. He had a real passion for the roles he played during his career. Everyone in Hollywood had high respect for him and he was accessible to his fans, peers. He is truly missed in Hollywood and in life. When will they get it that smoking, drinking will be the death of you you don’t stop to see the damage to the organs in the body. The body only has so much to bear, tolerate! I was not surprised to hear that he smoked 4 packs of cigarettes a day and drank heavily. Wow! Four packs a day? That is enough to make anyone sick as a dog.

Facts Verse ' i really liked David Janssen in tv series Richard Diamond ' a well made series also his O Hara US Treasury series Was very good ' and his series Harry O ' was Excellent ' of course his portrayal of Doctor Richard Kimble in tv series the Fugitive Was outstanding ' everyone loved it ' anything I've seen David in was always worth watching' he gave us so many happy times with his lifes work in the TV n movies '
That screenshot of David Janssen at 1:40 is from one of his last films, a made-for-TV drama/thriller called City in Fear (1980) that is posted in the Internet Movie Database. You can tell just from looking at it that at age 48 he was clearly tiring. Although he was well known for having a naturally rugged exterior, issues with excessive smoking, drinking and overwork caused Janssen to age prematurely starting in his early 40s. If you get a chance to see any of his movies, between 1975 and 1980, you will notice that David Janssen aged terribly in those last five years of his life; his hair turning grey and his face becoming prematurely lined.

A bit of trivia. As a little kid I remember Janssen starring in a TV show in the 50s where he played a private detective named Richard Diamond. One of the pictures in your collage of him in a car with a hat on is from that show. When he would call his office, his assistant would respond, but only her legs would be seen on the screen. The assistant was played by Mary Tyler Moore. Enjoy...
David Jansen was great, I respected him a lot, I was young and I watched episodes of the fugitive, God have mercy on him, I loved him a lot, he was great in his representation of the character of Dr. Richard Campbell
Not unexpected. He was working in his last series and you could easily notice his labored breathing. My husband mentioned how bad he sounded and shortly thereafter he died of a massive heart attack. He also looked far older than his 48 years. Telltale signs of heavy smoking and drinking. I was a big fan of David Janssen .

In Debbie Reynold’s bio she stated it was strongly rumoured that Gable was his father. His mother was a Zigfield girl and moved in those circles at the time. He’s very like him, I agree.

I met David Janssen when I was a little girl. My parents were looking at property in Nevada City / Grass Valley area of California. It was a scorching hot summer day and they decided to visit the historic National Hotel in downtown Nevada City for a cool drink. My mother, who was a big fan looked over towards the bar and said to my Father, "Isn't that David Janssen?" He said, "It sure is". He was dressed in a beautiful black tuxedo and even at a young age I thought he was very handsome. My mother reached inside her purse and pulled out a pen and note pad and handed it to me to ask for an autograph. I bashfully went over to him and politely asked for his autograph. He was so nice! He said, "He'd be honored to". He then asked my name and began to write. I still have his autograph in my scrapbook from 1973. It reads, "My pleasure, Vonna.. Thank you, David Janssen."

As a young teenager at the time in the West-Indies, I watched the Fugitive every Wednesday at eight o'clock with the entire family. This was a weekly EVENT that could not be missed. It was very exciting and suspenseful and caused so much anxiety to viewers. Most people could not wait for that one-armed man to be caught and brought to justice. When the final episode was to be aired, the public was well notified in advance so everyone who had a TV was glued to it. For those who didn't have a TV, they went to a neighbor or a friend to watch. It had that kind of effect on people. My mother always said that playing the part of the Fugitive made David Janssen a very solemn and sad person. He literally was always looking over his shoulder. He had a presence but it wasn't the kind of presence of say a Gregory Peck or John Wayne. Janssen's presence was one of sadness and sorrow but I guess that reflected how good of an actor he was.
I have always been a huge fan of David Janssen. He made it look so easy. It’s nice to learn he and Clint Eastwood were good friends. They share that coolness and calm in their acting style

I knew David Janssen and Henry Darrow while in the Navy, I had a friend that was his driver and met David on the set of Harry O at the boat on the Coronado Island and after getting to know him I was a stand-in on 3 of the episodes but my favorite scene was on the Farris Wheel in San Diego. David Janssen was one of the nicest people that you would ever meet. David would have to take a nap around 12 noon or so every day because of the drinking while on set. We had some great times and went to many parties at Henry Darrow's house during the years I was around him and the crew on set. One of the best memories was a scene at the San Diego University where there was supposed to be a Lincoln Continental that went over the hill and crashed, it was supposed to be a different location. While waiting for the scene to begin, myself, my wife at the time, and Ron, David Janssen's driver were at the car and I jumped on the front of the Lincoln to sit for a bit and the hood ornament went through my right butt cheek and the doctor on-site had to sew me up. When the Lincoln was sent over the hill it went about 20 feet and stopped sideways so the crew and I went down to the car and we had to lift the passenger side of the car and roll it down the hill 20 to 30 feet at a time. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life knowing David Janssen and the crew with Henry Darrow, another saint of a person.
wot a great memory ,my bro and i watched an old black n white episode of fugitive on hols,,recently ,,so when i got home i sent my bro the last 2 episodes of that series ,,by todays standards the fight scenes were a bit lame ,,but we both enjoyed rewatching the episodes ,we could hardly remember as teens ,,ha ,,my old mum loved david too ,,different times ,,,

For me it's not so much a person's looks but their voice, such as James Mason and Richard Burton etc you can hear their voices on the radio and exactly who they are. David had that kind of voice. Loved him in Harry O in which another two favourite actors appeared Henry Darrow and Anthony Zerbe.

David Jansen had a good impact on my life. I wanted to be like him. I knew he was good. I was only eight when the fugitive started it is my favorite tv program of all time. It’s my favorite because I felt like I was in the room with him , I was only 8 years old , but it’s hard to put into words how watching someone like he was in the fugitive can make you want to be good. Some of the episodes still make me cry today. I wish he was still alive today.

I had the pleasure meeting him while playing hookey from school..he was filming “Generations” on the lower East Side of Manhattan. He was my number 2 hero, my dad was number 1. Got his autograph and lost it over the years...what I would give to have a autograph picture of him...a gallant, decent man and wonderful actor...

My youngest son has portfolio photos that greatly resemble both Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise but absolutely no relationship other than also being an actor. Like my eldest son said, "He had that look" meaning this is what they are seeking in the movie industry. I had not really considered it before, but if we look at any particular time period, many of the leading actors heavily resembled each other. It doesn't stop at actors, however. There is a man in Australia, actually a not-nice guy, that I ran across a video of that I would swear is my father when he was in his 40s! He not only looks like him, he sounds and moves like him - they could literally be identical twins born decades apart, but not even distantly related. I send a clip to my sister and she saw it as well. It was eerie. Everyone has at least one "double" out there which is not surprising since there are only so many ways the same features can be assembled to make a face. In 1978, a dear friend came into my office and was furious I had snubbed her at a night club previously on Saturday night. I was home with my family, but to this day she does not believe it was not me!

very tall, well-built handsome man come in to BJ's Lobster house, one Sunday night-didn't see a lady with him, now I don't wonder why not? I was singing an old standard around closing , propped up with my guitar and amp behind the piano, singing a request at about One AM. The man, who had been sitting at the bar drinking alone, "ran" up behind me, and tapped me on the shoulder, and said in MY mike' "Let's not have any more of that crap, let's do Melancholy Baby for the crowd !" What the heck?My answer , "But of course!" And there wasn't much left of "a crowd" either ? I wasn't going to argue with a drunk, and then, I also finally recognized him as he turned around!I could have simply taken a "break" and let him have his show, but thought it best to try to "work with him" as best I could. (I believe he might have been offended that I hadn't asked him for an autograph?) Thank God I knew the chords, and was not bombed at the time, myself, having had a glass of wine four hours prior! I tried to harmonize with him as best I could to cover how aggressive he was acting, but his solo was simply all over the place !
BJ's was a great hang-out for employees from the Pierpont Inn, down the 101, and the Ventura Cadillac car dealership lot to the North; and the tips were better and the output less demanding, so I' d refused a Sat. night gig and chose to sing on Sundays and Mondays instead. I kept wondering " What's this guy doing, driving around drunk at one AM ? Perhaps he didn't have to punch the clock like allot of us have to on a Monday morning, right ? True Story, BJ's was located a block away from the California St. exit , Ventura, California and has since been redesigned into a Mexican Restaurant.

I always felt that he was down to earth and when he pass away was very sadden by it. I used to look forward to what he was in. And always thought of him as being a stand up guy. He would be 80 if he was still alive.

I love watching The Fugitive on DVD 📀. Saw that show in syndicated reruns growing up in the 1970's. Every day a new name ie Harry Conners, Don Sinclair and a new city ie San Diego, Philadelphia, Chicago etc.
He played a newspaper reporter in The Green Berets with John Wayne and Shoes of a Fisherman.

well, how many of you never ever noticed jansen's ears! i, for 1, never did. i always liked his voice & his mannerisms. oh, i watched the fugitive reruns just last year.
I watched The Fugitive faithfully as a kid. David was born a couple years after my stepfather & lived a couple hours from him in Nebraska.
God, I loved this man ; my only problem with his character was that he was the worst fighter for someone who seemed to constantly be involved in fisticuffs due to his position. Also, whenever I see Mr Janssen I'm always reminded of my father who has been gone from this earth for 39 years. My father wasn't that big on tv,
except when " THE FUGITIVE " came on .
I thought he did ok in his fight scenes. I loved the show, but what bothered me was that the stunt men who stood in for him on occasion didn't resemble him very much at all.

My brother and I used to watch The fugitive Every Sunday when we used to go and visit our nanny . we sit there and watch it ...then we go home and tell are dad that we’ve just seen him on the telly! They was the image of each other! And it didn’t matter how much he denied it we knew he was the fugitive ! We thought it was a secret actor . We told everybody . It was a much nicer era then .

He’s a once in a lifetime actor. The smoking, drinking took it toll on him and the cause of his passing. He had a real passion for the roles he played during his career. Everyone in Hollywood had high respect for him and he was accessible to his fans, peers. He is truly missed in Hollywood and in life. When will they get it that smoking, drinking will be the death of you you don’t stop to see the damage to the organs in the body. The body only has so much to bear, tolerate! That screenshot of David Janssen at 1:40 is from one of his last films, a made-for-TV drama/thriller called City in Fear (1980) that is posted in the Internet Movie Database. You can tell just from looking at it that at age 48 he was clearly tiring. Although he was well known for having a naturally rugged exterior, issues with excessive smoking, drinking and overwork caused Janssen to age prematurely starting in his early 40s. If you get a chance to see any of his movies, between 1975 and 1980, you will notice that David Janssen aged terribly in those last five years of his life; his hair turning grey and his face becoming prematurely lined.
Smoking and drinking will have signifcant effects to anyone's life. David Janseen had a great acting talent but in the end he was only human.

A bit of trivia. As a little kid I remember Janssen starring in a TV show in the 50s where he played a private detective named Richard Diamond. One of the pictures in your collage of him in a car with a hat on is from that show. When he would call his office, his assistant would respond, but only her legs would be seen on the screen. The assistant was played by Mary Tyler Moore. Enjoy...

David Jansen was great, I respected him a lot, I was young and I watched episodes of the fugitive, God have mercy on him, I loved him a lot, he was great in his representation of the character of Dr. Richard Campbell

Not unexpected. He was working in his last series and you could easily notice his labored breathing. My husband mentioned how bad he sounded and shortly thereafter he died of a massive heart attack. He also looked far older than his 48 years. Telltale signs of heavy smoking and drinking. I was a big fan of David Janssen .

very tall, well-built handsome man come in to BJ's Lobster house, one Sunday night-didn't see a lady with him, now I don't wonder why not? I was singing an old standard around closing , propped up with my guitar and amp behind the piano, singing a request at about One AM. The man, who had been sitting at the bar drinking alone, "ran" up behind me, and tapped me on the shoulder, and said in MY mike' "Let's not have any more of that crap, let's do Melancholy Baby for the crowd !" What the heck?My answer , "But of course!" And there wasn't much left of "a crowd" either ? I wasn't going to argue with a drunk, and then, I also finally recognized him as he turned around!I could have simply taken a "break" and let him have his show, but thought it best to try to "work with him" as best I could. (I believe he might have been offended that I hadn't asked him for an autograph?) Thank God I knew the chords, and was not bombed at the time, myself, having had a glass of wine four hours prior! I tried to harmonize with him as best I could to cover how aggressive he was acting, but his solo was simply all over the place !
BJ's was a great hang-out for employees from the Pierpont Inn, down the 101, and the Ventura Cadillac car dealership lot to the North; and the tips were better and the output less demanding, so I' d refused a Sat. night gig and chose to sing on Sundays and Mondays instead. I kept wondering " What's this guy doing, driving around drunk at one AM ? Perhaps he didn't have to punch the clock like allot of us have to on a Monday morning, right ? True Story, BJ's was located a block away from the California St. exit , Ventura, California and has since been redesigned into a Mexican Restaurant.Regardless, the man died far before his years. He still had more films to star in as far as I coud see; Bet he would'a liked my rendition of "I Fall to Pieces," done classical-style, and when he said "none of this crap," he was referring to a country song? Anyone ?

He had incredible screen presence. He always reminded me of Clark Gable.
In Debbie Reynold’s bio she stated it was strongly rumoured that Gable was his father. His mother was a Zigfield girl and moved in those circles at the time. He’s very like him, I agree.
