About the SKELETON: Inside the oratory were kept the relics of Santa Pulcheria, exhumed in 1671 from the catacombs of Priscilla in Rome. Last year they were moved to the nearby parish church, to protect them from vandalism.

Also, the extra rooms on the sides of the chapel may also been used as confessionals. Kind of sad, the skeleton was gone, but at least the blessed sacrament on top of the altar remains intact.

Thank you for your respect in the churches and chapels, Leslie. Because you so often find these holy places in historic homes, I know you may find some factoids interesting (from a 'cradle Catholic' in the know): * the little box in the middle of the altar is called a 'tabernacle,' the most sacred place in the chapel. (Thank you for being kind to these old altars; it means a lot to us Catholics!) * The 'kneelers' would have normally been accompanied by pews right behind them. Likely those chairs in the back were at one time used with the kneelers in the absence of proper pews. During Catholic Mass, participants do not kneel the whole time. But, you're right; the pews and kneelers were not made for comfort, but to help Mass-goers pay attention (i.e., stay awake. 😉) * The "windows" on either side of the chapel with kneelers beneath would have been used most likely by visitors outside the family -- or "overflow." There may well have been benches behind them, as well. * The statue with the broken head is of St. Joseph, the Foster Father of Jesus. In old traditional Catholic chapels, you will always find him on the right side, facing the altar, and the Blessed Mother (Mary, mother of Jesus) on the left side.
Many of us sigh with (Holy?) envy at the many Catholic statues, relics, and images you find. Again, thank you for being respectful of them.

Kneeling before God shows reverence; lying prostate before Him shows utmost humility. Often, women would kneel from afar or through the ironwork. Sometimes that position was reserved for the nuns. You are a year younger than my youngest son, which makes me feel so old. I love listening to you talk. Lol

@ christine robinson, Thanks for your insightful comments! In regards to the areas concealed behind the ironwork grills, sometimes these areas were also used by high ranking noble men & women, or their families.

Stunning property. The skeleton was the relic of a Saint, which every cathedral and chapel had received from the Vatican, and kept in the Altar. The baby angels are called cherubs or cherubim. In Italy they are called putti. This place shows a lifestyle that is no more, but was elegant and lived with care. It is so sad to see so many fine old mansions just left to decay. So nice to see you with a great sponsor...your skills continue to improve steadily, so keep going and stay safe out there.🖤🇨🇦

I love these Italian and French homes! Like Leslie said, they really took pride in their work back then! The amount of time spent to paint the ceilings and walls must have been months! I love how the painting on the walls are done because it breaks them up like picture frames. Some walls done need anything else added because they're so beautiful. Like the one down stairs that was pink and soft green!

What an incredible find. This palace is so beautiful inside with the exquisite painting of the walls and ceilings. Loved the chapel so authentic and glorious. The iron work was amazing. Can I say I felt a little sad for whomever was sick in that area with the 3 small beds you could just feel the patients there and that they had been very bad in health. It was like an imprint was left. Wonder if you could sense this as well. But on a more positive note this was truly a remarkable opportunity for you to share with us and was breathtaking with its artwork and architectural design features. Thanks for sharing. Please stay safe. We love you guys. Great job. Again you have the most wonderful way about you. And you take us on a journey into the past in such a sincere lovely way. Bless you guys. Just magnificent!! ❤ The Italians have great taste and style. Wine, quality leather goods, food, ect. Just my opinion as a Christian.., the position of the praying benches is more humbling than "uncomfortable ". I love and enjoy your talents in video photography and hope to donate soon. We here in America are in a bit of a pickle these days. The cost of everything is going up. I know that many countries are suffering as well. 🙏😔 We are praying for our Beautiful Country and the other countries that need our help. Not hand outs. From America with Love, peace be with you. We love your historical history.

Hi there Leslie - I think the strange side rooms or alcoves in the chapel where people could pray on the benches behind the iron grids looking in at the main congregation is about, I'm afraid to say, the poorer members of the household, servants, cooks, grooms, etc being allowed to attend the chapel services but not being allowed to mingle with the family. Much further back in history, I found this information, which is not relevant to the chapel as such but related to separating congregations and interesting on its own account: "Although we now know that there is very little risk of contagion, people in the Middle Ages were terrified of contracting leprosy and lepers were forced to stay well away from everyone else even to the extent of observing church rituals through a little hole called a leper's squint or leper's hole." There are many UK churches with these weird little windows.

Jesus, through God was put on this earth in human form to teach us, die and then rise in order to deliver us from our sins. If we ask for forgiveness and truly make every effort to live up to the 10 Commandments he will save us all (The entire World)
Mostly... “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the first and great commandment.

One thing I love about the Italian palaces is the frescos painted on the walls inside of the rooms. Instead of wall paper they painted such beautiful frescos and it's amazing how vivid the colors still remain on the walls. They are still so bright. I also like the doorways between rooms in these old castles and palaces. They look like they are approximately 18" wide. Maybe this was once used as a children's home.

Those beautiful decorated pink rooms remind me of similar rooms with the same kind of ribbon decorated patterns in a derelict building that I used to live in West Flanders Belgium in the 1980's. I associate them with the aroma of roses because there was also a soap left behind I think or at least its aroma in the room which I used to experienced on a beautiful sunny day just like in your video. I love the warm glow of the natural light that bounces of the light shades of the yellow interiors in your video. It awakens the place with energy and enthusiasm.

Such a beautiful little chapel. The chairs were probably paced behind the kneelers to use during different parts of the Mass and the sermon. Catholics kneel or genuflect to show honor to our Lord and God. The kneelers behind the metal screens were generally used Nun's or other religious. Maybe even a choir. The details in the house itself were beautiful. They gave the palace a true sense of nobility. Thank you and Jordy for your beautiful work.

Hi, Jordy and the Bro’s of Decay families. I enjoy watching your tours of abandoned homes every week. Each one of them leaves behind a different atmosphere. Especially the ones with a lot of pictures and religious artifacts in them.
I was just thinking before I watched this video that if you believe that the Bible is the word of God, that Jesus was the son of the living God, and if you received his sacrifice for your sins, you don’t need religious artifacts because you already have all the faith you need.

    Hello, from Ontario, Canada.
Your technical skills are so much improved since the early days of your explorations. Your speaking and narration is also so much improved over your first ones. Congratulations.
Your curiosity about chapels and religion is remarkable. Your Catholic viewers of this video are generous in their remarks, explaining the significance of the features and images. I appreciate their generosity.
    Tips for more improvement.
Pronunciation of some English words. Example. Chandelier is said like shandelier, with a soft S not a harsh C.
Movement of the camera. Slow down the movement. We your viewers want to focus on the wall features.
As always, you do fine work and I applaud you for continuing to seek improvement.

Hi there, dear Lesley, Thank you very much once more for taking us viewers on such an amazing tour through this former italian palace.
It was really an amazing explore, and I enjoyed watching after the actual lifestream, - taking in a more restful way a closer look at your video.
I loved most the still beautiful and remarkably well preserved interior details like the very decorative murals, the old and original ceilings
with their special architecture. - You focussed nicely on all these details, so it was possible to see the former beauty of that location. - I also
think, like some of the other commenters, that this palace has been transformed into some kind of caring home but not necessarily into
a hospital. - This was a fascinating explore, dear Lesley and as always such a pleasure to watch and to listen to your comment. - By the way
breathtakingly beautiful introduction with wonderful outside images of this historical building! - Very well done! - Stay safe, my dear friend,
and I am already looking forward to your next explore. - Kindest regards also to your dear brother Jordy!
Much love from cold and partially snowy Switzerland. - Blessings and kindest regards.

Stations of the cross for Catholics. Also, the bones that were on the altar were what Catholics calls religious relics. Sometimes bones of a deceased saint or person important in the church. The benches you kneel on are called pews
Great job Lesley! Love your videos!

I just discovered your videos Leslie. They are fascinating and amazing! I see that some people have commented on the side rooms in the chapel behind the iron grill work. I'm wondering if maybe this was where the priests would go if they occasionally came to hear confessions, The priest would be in the small side room. The family would have a kneeler slid over to the window in the chapel for the day.

Please be careful!!! You're truly a risk taker. I've noticed in a lot of your videos you refer to items as copper. Just to let you know most are brass...much harder metal than copper. Copper is reddish while brass is more yellow/gold color. Love your videos.

Great video. So sad to think no one wants to bring back the beauty to even a small building , true it would be costly but what isn't these days. Thank You. ✌️

I bet it was gorgeous in the beginning. Ceilings and walls are stunning. Maybe up to 1980 it was a boarding home or care facility for seniors.
