This now almost 80 year old was a 17 year old senior in high school on January 1st 1961. My Uncle Russell invited me to join in the parade on 2 Street since he was as mummer. It’s a memory I’ve never forgotten, as a shy young teenage boy learned what 2 Street was all about, booze, frisky girls and the best night of my life. Yep, I even learned and can still do the Mummer’s Strut!!!

Really good video. Yes, the post parade is the true highlight of the Mummer's celebration. A while ago, I came across a bunch of photos of drunken Mummers. Evidently there was a particular alley chosen as a repository for piss from toked up drinkers. One photo showed a drunken Mummer who passed out in that alley and slept on a pool of piss. Dunno how he made it home that day. But he must have carried a god awful smell on him.

They don’t cover it because it’s all the drunken dabauchery... they have been mentioning it on tv during the main parade tho.
