She was there for a fitting. That is probably why it looked unfinished. If you see her on the podium at the end, the neckline is a lot more rounded and finished looking.
I don’t think the finishing touches saved the dress. Especially for that price tag. I think she scammed a naive, little girl with a few hundred dollars worth of materials and labor.
I think it's just an unfinished edge, she said she made a duplicate bodice out of something other than fabric, in case she didn't turn out liking the cut.

100% silk tulle costs between $80.00-100.00 per yard. There is no way that this dress should have cost $6000-6500. She provided the leather and what little silk she used to make the alternate bodice didn’t cost much and neither did the lining of the skirt.
Most Graphic designers tend to stick with cookie cutter basics. Redoing the same thing over and over while trying to look unique... same as everybody else. Artists, fashion designers, artisans think creatively with innovation and vision, even if it is from just some leather and a tea cup.

It's a fitting! It's not supposed to be perfectly sewed! And no it's not a classic top but i love this high neck style. Not every bride wants an strapless or v neck you know.
When the designer was drawing the dress and she drew out the skirt and the bride and her family were saying “wow I love it” I was just like it’s not really anything unique and astounding for them to have that reaction 😅

Not because it's leather, but because the straps are not in the place they should be, the closed neckline is too closed, and the back just looks like she stole it from a biker. And, eventhough bottom part is on point, the dress is just too plain, it misses some bling.

I have seen a number of these Bride by Design dresses and they draw out nicely but are all hideous, not one I would ever be happy with, they are not cheap and to look like they were made in the basement with an old sewing machine, in ill lightening is abysmal. Unfortunately the only moments this dress has is ugly moments.
I've noticed that pictures always look amazing because the model they use are tall and skinny so they would look great on anything, while in actual real life and lighting and a real woman, they look hideous.

I loved this creative combination. This will look perfect with a nice statement necklace and a beautiful wedding. The idea or strong leather mixed with the ultra feminine tulle skirt really shows how unique and individual the designer and client are. I love the back. It will be a dress to remember.

Because the bride supplied the leather and she didn’t line the dress with silk and what little silk she used for the alternate bodice was less than a yard and could easily have been made using left over fabric from a different dress.
yes, one thing I didn't want was tulle on top. to me the tulle is cheap and is to fluff out a skirt but not be the skirt. I had a very full skirt but had raw silk on top no tulle to be see as it should be.

As a designer, myself. I loved watching her process. It's not necessarily an easy thing to explain your vision to others. But bringing her creative process, to another designer, was fun to watch.
