Great job explaining extinction with multiple examples. I’d love for the ivory billed to be around still but I am doubtful.

I go back and fourth still a lot whether I find "Multiple Lines of Evidence..." Convincing, I think it finally was published which I would be interested in checking out because I found the preprint to sound pretty unprofessional and certain conclusions to be poorly defended in places.

This was a fantastic video JJ, your Hawaii videos are always incredible. Your ‘akiapola’au footage is absolutely stunning and as usual you explain these complex scientific topics in such approachable and thought provoking terms. It is pretty amazing how complicated declaring a species extinct can be to assert, I have always been fascinated by Lazarus taxa but the ongoing state of ecological affairs has me somewhat less than hopeful that something like the ivory-billed woodpecker is still around. There have been some pretty incredible rediscoveries though, so I’ll still hold out hope. Great work!

I really do hope the ivory-bill is still around, but in the mean time I have filmed the largest findable woodpecker in the world which was exciting. Yeah, declaration of extinction is quite complex and there are competing philosophies in the gray area. Thank you for watching.

I heard and saw an ivory-billed woodpecker in the summer of 2018.
