Haunting Photographs of Extinct Animals
We are living at the beginning of what may be Earth’s 6th mass extinction, which is being caused by human activity, over the past few hundred years many species have gone extinct or possibly have, and some of these more recently extinct species were able to be photographed before their extinction both in out in the wild and in captivity, this video is a haunting gallery of those images, the name, scientific name, geographical location, extinction dates, and the causes of the extinction.

Welcome to Ecotasia! On this channel you can find wildlife footage and short documentaries on the natural world. I am an early career biologist who was inspired by the likes of the BBC Natural History unit, PBS, and Animal Planet as a child and then more recently by various nature UA-cam channels to share my love for animals and nature. My goal is to document and highlight the interesting ecology and behavior of organisms I encounter, as well as cover and elucidate conservation and biological topics. So You may have heard that we burn dinosaurs when we burn gasoline, a concept partially created by Sinclair Oil as a marketing campaign and their dinosaur mascot, so is that true? Are we burning the remains of dinosaurs like these mighty predators of Late Cretaceous North America? Well no, I will have to take you on a journey further back in time to explain where we get fossil fuels. This video...

I saw one for the first time today in the Delaware River at Port Jervis. It was on the underside of a large flat rock I had lifted from the riverbed while taking a swim. I am happy to learn that its presence indicates that the waters I spend so much time in are not polluted.

Very interesting. There's a reason this is not 'common knowledge' --- because the human societies function the same way, and the parasitic class slows down the transmission of such info.

I got stung by one in New Mexico, visiting my G'ma. Got into my shoe and stung on the top of my foot. Really hurt for a day or two. But we have the Pogonomyrmex Californica in CA where I live. In spring, you see them by the sides of hiking trails foraging. Wondered if they sting, and I now have my answer. Also, just read the Chumash people (Native Americans) of CA would use them to initiate boys into manhood. 250 ants was an effective dose, swallowed alive.

I really enjoyed this video JJ, your Amazon bird taxonomy video is one of my all time favorites, and this video is now up there with it. I am blown away by the number of species you were able to film, I can only imagine that that was very challenging. You made strong points throughout, even though I also wish we could talk about the intrinsic and ecological importance of birds more than the purely anthropocentric, economic benefits. Very well researched and written, you pull off this style very well. Great work!
