- We couldn't think of a better way to start off the year than to share a video with the man who started it all, Jon Petersen. Dad had the idea to become a family bluegrass band, bought us all our instruments, and signed us up to perform wayyyyy before we were ever ready haha. He and mom would sing us to sleep as little kids and "In You Came" was heard most nights in the Petersen household. Hope you all are blessed by it!
For everyone asking about Papa P's guitar, it is a 12-string (reverse-strung) Taylor 652ce, which he is fingerpicking, so plucking rather than strumming. The strings are in pairs, each an octave apart, and it takes some skill to play both at once but it gives such a beautiful sound.

This is an update for you. I had showed this to my husband about a week ago as I had loved this. Now, I was thinking it was perfect because it depicted what I thought of him...*In you came, staying by me, etc* As I scrolled down to read the rest of the stuff, I realized it was about Jesus. Even better! We BOTH really loved it. [If you've read this far thank you, My husband recently passed away on Feb 2, and your song/video will be played for him. As it is perfect. Sometimes if you're lucky you will come across a UA-cam video that is just a wee bit special. This is one of them.
Rainbows, playing in water puddles were all part my life as a child. This song made a 69 year old grandpa cry tears of joy.

One of the things I appreciated most when I got your Christmas Card is that you all appeared in the picture, including Dad Jon. I think he is an extraordinary man in every sense. Pilot, doctor, musician, the one who, with Mom, has created this fantastic musical reality that you all are.
Returning to the song, I have already written it, it is an authentic hidden gem that you are now offering to the whole world. Sung, arranged and played beautifully as only you know how to do. With those absolutely enchanting 12-string guitar sounds and with Jon's voice interpreting it in the best way. In short, this time too I got really moved.

It is probably a song born in the 70s-80s linked to American youth clubs with Christian inspiration. There is another video on UA-cam where this song is played on the piano and the author says almost the same things as Jon says.

This moved me to tears to see this and hear the story behind it. I've followed this family on youtube during the last year and what joy they have brought me and countless others. In my opinion this is the 'best' performance I've ever heard from the band. There's a difference in this performance. Dad singing from the heart, Karen joining him on harmonies and the rest of the family and Emmett contributing in their own inimitable way. The song moves me. Jon's vocal is not perfect. He doesn't intend it to be. But his approach to his vocal is totally sincere. He's sung it countless times to his beautiful children and it shows. It has soul and his family know it. You can see it in their faces. They're proud. They love their Mum and Dad who have given them this gift. This song reminds me of John Prine's approach to his incredible songs. Nothing needs to be perfect....but when a performance like this speaks to our souls, we're moved. This is music at it's absolute best.....

In a different time and era, like the one I grew up in...I have no doubt the Petersens would have their own music/variety show on TV where once a week families would all sit together and watch them sing and have special musical guests. This video has sooo many facets to it that reveal much about your family. First there is the man that started his kids in a positive direction. He heretofore was most always humbly in the background-even now doesn't look directly into the camera- now persuaded to perform and share a beautiful family intimacy. Look at his children. They all have this "Dad is so special" look on their face. And talk about faces; why did it take so long for we the admiring public to see the beautiful radiant glowing face that Mom has. Wow, does she love that guy doing the singing! And then there is the double entendre of the song's lyrics -sung to Jesus and yet also to the one that Jesus gave him as a life partner. This video Petersen-people is sensational.

That’s a very beautiful song. It’s helping me. I lost my big sister on Christmas Eve. I held her hand all through the night. But in the early morning I let go, and Jesus came and took her away. Now the mirror makes me sad, ‘cause all I can see is my sister looking back at me. I grieve my loss, but she is walking with the Lord. Thank you for sharing that song.

Boom 💥 that’s is an incredible song and I dedicate this to my wife and son who stood beside me through my addiction and still in my 9th year of recovery ( I know it’s nothing related to recovery, but the lyrics ring perfectly for mine ). I owe my recovery to myself but just as importantly my wife Sam and Jack my son who have made my recovery the best decision I’ve ever made. The Petersens are ace 👍 and I listen to all their songs most evenings as the harmonies from their voices are peaceful to my relaxation. Keep up the amazing songs you beautiful family xx
