I think the movie that was supposed to be filmed was called “Vikingr.” It ran out of money and then it was sold off to Netflix for “The Witcher.” As I was watching, I realized a spring trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior in MN would lend some similar experiences. Iceland is more mountains and MN is more forest with tall basalt formations. We have a black sand beach in Minnesota up in Silver Bay, which is on Lake Superior. Incredibly beautiful up there. In the winter we can get those same ice formations and more. Sometimes we even get ice caves that you can walk through. Lake Superior is often like the ocean and never freezes except close to the shore area. Because the waves are always roaring, especially in winter, these sheets of ice come crashing on shore and break apart. MN also gets the Northern Lights! They’ve been active the past year or two. Your trip looks beautiful and what a great way to make family memories! Iceland is on our bucket list so it’s great to see your experiences!
I found a post from someone whose uncle built the set. No movie name but his uncle said he was called back in 2019 to rebuild the set for a move called Vikingr but that movie shows still in production.
Hi guys according to my research The Viking Village was used as a filming location for the Netflix series The Witcher: Blood Origin in 2021. It was also used as a set for the movie Vikingr in 2018. Info from Google. Hope it helps. Great video. Thank you for bringing us along.
I just realized that it has been quite a long time since I saw Hensley and her pink boots and there was a time she would go nowhere without them just shows you how much she's growing up on her and JJ y'all have a lot of fun because as much as I'd want to do that my knees and legs just won't let me 🤠😎🤠

Yep! That's the one. This is Vestrahorn Mountain (where you see the loose sand going over halfway up the mountain sides). It's pretty epic and also wild to think the film never happened but so cool they left it there and now other things can be filmed there too.
12123 in Icelandic Krona, That is $85.95 in U.S and 38.88 liters is 10.271 gallons. 8.36/ gallon
Thanks!! So pretty good guess
What a fantastic education your children are receiving. First hand experiences..
They are so lucky to be able to experience this!
@LessJunkMoreJourney Indeed!

😂😂
Awesome…thank younall
Are you going to post the final cost of the trip?
I don't think we'll do actual exacts, but we can definitely give rounded numbers for things.
If you can access your credit card account online it will show you the amount in USD. You can then convert liters to gallons and do the math to come up with the amount per gallon.
Thanks for the info! We definitely should have done that before trying to math on the fly 😂
I think the movie that was supposed to be filmed was called “Vikingr.” It ran out of money and then it was sold off to Netflix for “The Witcher.”
So cool!!!
A quick Google about the village that was built, says the Witcher was eventually filmed there in 2021.
We did learn that after, they did the prequel here too.
Cool
😊😊😊
We have a nephew that looks exactly like Nathan
Maybe his twin is in Canada lol
how to rent a RV with automatic transmission in Iceland?
I'm not sure they had automatic RVs, this one was standard too, like our rental car.
And I thought California gas was expensive.... even diesel is about 1/2 that in Iceland!
you look COLD!!!!
The wind didn't help one bit! 😂
