Flex Wheeler had an Amazing physique. Flex Wheeler’s physique was way ahead of the competition. Chris Cormier and Tom Prince alike are great champions. Rip Tom Prince. You are not forgotten Champ.
I wouldn´t say he was ahead of the competition in terms of mass/development of the body. But the roundness of his muscles gave him an almost unbeatable look of a bodybuilding cartoon. The only problem was that Coleman´s muscles were very round aswell, and bigger....
he had a great physique that he ruined later on in his career and never worked hard enough to compete properly shredded like his competition. Unbeatable physique? oh please. It could've been but that's projection, as he was, his physique was definitely beatable and that's translated in his placings.
resulted to heavy synthol use, which you can clearly see in his biceps, they look like water balloons for gods sake. Plus his rear delts are "enhanced" as well.
I was there, brings back memories. Was in my early twenties, living in Venice and training at Gold’s. One day Charles walked up to me and my friend and says to her, “This guy’s got great shoulders.” That was a good moment.
the good ole days, levrone was training at our gym, he asked me if i had any ideas f o r a posing song. he was really impressive in person, nice fella though. i never bothered him though. he came backstage and congratulated my brother when won the Maryland in 93. i miss those days very much. 58 now still hittin it. kevin was doing lying leg curls one day and they looked like quarter horse hams , race horse , it was hard to comprehend how huge and separated they were. he looked like was around 280 imo, it was the best i ever seen his legs. i forget what year it was, but he trained at our gym the POWERHOUSE GYM in linthicum Md.
So crazy to think that while they were here training with Charles in the best gym in the world at that time, Ronnie was in Texas training in a sweat box on beat up, rusty equipment.
To say sweat box would be a bit of an exaggeration, Metroflex was as polished as a commercial gym could be in ‘99 . Ronnie was definitely not in some barn training.
@@executiverobbery Lmao you gotta be trolling. Metro has been in the same old industrial park since the day opened. No air or heat. I’ve lived in Arlington my entire life and can assure you it’s ALWAYS been grungy and hardcore
Back in the day you had to have a nice watch, gold bracelet, thick gold chain around the neck and a couple of rings on your fingers to make it right. And don't forget the expensive shoes as well. Those were the unspoken rules back then and one more thing...you had to be a member of the 405-bench club minimum just to have your propers. Back then bodybuilding was one of the top sports. Everybody tuned in to see who won the Olympia & Arnolds. The 1st thing you did was run to the supermarket and look at the magazines for pictures. It's totally different now, in AMERICA. In other countries it's still huge, but here assess to sooo many PEDs has made the bodybuilding look so easy to get.
My guess is Flex is loading the T'bar with 10kg plates for greater range of motion. Doesn't look heavy, 50-60kg. Glass is always promoting quality over quantity. Still I've never seen Flex push or lift heavy lb's, his form is always spot on.
CHRIS CORMIER is one of my all time favorite body builders, but NOBODY had a body like FLEX WHEELER!! NOBODY!! I often wonder how much did MR. GLASS charge them for coaching.
Seeing these guys lift their tiny weights compared to Coleman makes me realize why Ronnie was so much bigger from the rest of the pack. It also makes me understand why Ronnie has screws in his spine and is unable to walk.
Because, you have not watched Ronie coleman (at his prime) who was his competition in some of those Mr.O, Flex undoubtedly was awesome but Ronie was even better.Nobody on earth there were or are who (also in their peak shape)could beat him in his absolute prime.
Which year do you mean by " the very first one"? Is it the 1998 mr o?, if it is then too i would disagree, because flex might have won (you are right here) if only there was nobody called Ronie as his competition.
Flex should have one a couple of Olympias at least. He looks how people actually dream of looking. Few strive, or dream about having a bubble gut. Damn "mass monsters" look like pregnant ninja turtles. Even Ronny and his gut was out of control at times. Mass monsters set bodybuilding back atleast a decade, maybe more.
neither Yates nor Coleman had bubble guts in 1993, 1998 and 1999. Far from it. Flex was small and soft, no amount of abs was going to change it. Bodybuilding is a sport of rules and has distinct judging criteria, who you as a viewer would rather look like IS IRRELEVANT. I also would look like Flex rather than look like Ronnie or Yates but I'm not ignorant and arrogant enough to claim that Flex ever deserved to beat them. 1993 Yates and 1999 Ronnie is greatness at its peak, 2 best versions of 2 best bodybuilders to ever live.

Everyone says he’s a nice guy, But as far as his training and what he used for supplementation I’ve heard a hundred different things.
I wouldn´t say he was ahead of the competition in terms of mass/development of the body. But the roundness of his muscles gave him an almost unbeatable look of a bodybuilding cartoon. The only problem was that Coleman´s muscles were very round aswell, and bigger....

Even in his mass monster mode, flex still so aesthetic, crazy..

Flex's back while he's doing T-bar rows looks absolutely INSANE
Deadlift too..
No mobiles, no tripods , no women, no influencers. Proper gyms back then

Look how clean, full, round and dense the muscles were, unlike today. Today's bodybuilders look like bloated noodles.
They clearly rely wayyy too much on drugs (insulin and hgh)
I hate to break it to you but Flex Wheeler is a poster boy for site enhancement. He had Rich Piana arms long after becoming skinny and retired.

Flex overdoing the delt and bicep oil. Very obvious on lat pull down when compared to Chris’s less oiled muscle fibres.
The pull-ups aren't full range, even the forehead doesn't reach the bar. But it seems they do it on purpose. Any ideas why?
