Thanks for watching! In this video we visit Wizard of Oz land for the first time, check out the rides and theming and I give my HONEST review. It's a mixed bag. I hope you enjoy the Vlog!
Almost all the ride queues at Movie World are like that. It's one of the biggest theme parks in Australia, but it's nowhere near the size and budget of Disney or Universal.
They built scooby doo and that queue area had/has great theming. They can do it, they just didn't this time, for whatever reason. My biggest complaint about MW is the lack of shade in queues. It seems like MW should have a duty of care not to force people to stand in the blazing sun for long periods. The qld sun is brutal. It's frustrating to see this issue yet again with their new rides.
The Wizard of Oz is a family movie, I hope they'll expand and have more rides other than the coasters. I know they are family coasters, but not everyone enjoys riding a coaster. A dark ride would be amazing...
The chain link fences ruin the theme in some sort of way, and I feel it’s really underthemed in some areas, especially the wicked witch station and the emerald palace, it just looks so cheap and boring, but I’m just gonna be grateful that it’s open now.
Same the wizard of oz land looks super rushed and was opened quickly because of dreamworlds new area I also think they either spent most of the budget on the rides or didn’t use up all the budget because it looks super rushed
Yeah, I don't believe that 100m line for a second. It does feel like a budgeting issue, as the good stuff in the land is genuinely good, there's just not that much of it
The indoor queue theming looks great, shame about the outdoor portion in the sun lol. Having watched a POV, I would also love if they did something with the ride tunnels in FOTWW. It's a small moment but even just some painted flying monkeys and/or wicked witch would make it look so much better than just plain grey paint.
@@jjperceval it's exactly like that lol, rivertown really shocked everyone's expectations! but even if it isn't this amazing themed land, it is still a good addition to movie world in the aspect of family thrill rides which is what they needed.
Would have been great to spend the $100 million on a dark ride in the old Bugs Bunny dark ride building. Could have made an amazing experience for the whole family.
agreed, Aussie parks just have no idea. I mean Movie world for example already has a bunch of roller coasters, boggle the mind they would just add two more hoping to attract more visitors. A themed dark ride would have been a much better choice. I also think wizard of Oz was a bad choice on a new land too. there are much better options out there than a movie that was released in the 40's. the owners of these parks need to do a few trips to Disneyland and universals to see how they run.
After seeing Rivertown, it made me very hopeful that this one would be as amazing or even more so but it seems.. empty and rushed to me, some bits were very fleshed out and nice and others.. well were not.. hopefully they add more stuff into it in the future! God im praying that scooby doo is gonna be our saviour 😭🙏 (not to be dramatic lmfao-)
Make everything look less flat, add some more color to the city's walls other than green, and it should live up to expectations! But I must say, the queues look amazing! Best in the park for sure! Edit: perhaps use some different materials in the main area.
It's an interesting spot for a full themed land, they were obviously limited by space. It's like trying to be immersive but still gives off we are a "Studios" theme park. Also the Flight of the Wicked Witch has to be what the upcoming Monsters Inc suspended coaster is going to be at Hollywood Studios.
Agreed. The new Monsters Inc ride is indeed likely to be a Vekoma suspended family coaster - I'm looking forwards to it (just wish I didn't replace the Muppets 3D)
It feels a bit rushed as if corporate told them to quickly finishing up before the end of the year I feel like they just close the are and make things a little less bland like add some decorative elements to wall in the enarraled city and may add some shade and additional them to the ride stations and later part of the que also miss opportunity to add defying gravity for the wicked witch rides music
Unfortunately, whilst I do get your point about Defying Gravity, it wouldn't fit, as that's Wicked, not Wizard of Oz, and whilst Wicked is indeed based on Wizard of Oz, I feel like Wicked's version of Oz, itself, is it's own thing with a very diffrent musical esthetic to the original.
There's a Land of Oz theme park in Beech Mountain, North Carolina in the United States. It's like you're watching the Wizard of Oz, but you're actually living the movie. However, the park is only open for a few weekends every September.
Great video they definitely rushed the area to beat dreamworld or at least it seems I don't believe they actually spent 100 million dollars on the area if they did tho I feel bad for them they got scammed
Great review! I totally agree with you in regards to the lack of shading in the outdoor queue areas. You did better than we did, we gave up after waiting 45mins in Wicked Witch queue (both rides were suffering teething issues at the time) as we were starting to feel sunstroked 😫😓🔥 Jumped in the air conned car and drove to Dreamworld instead to have lunch in the restaurant and cool off 🥰 Hopefully MW takes feedback into account and addresses these issues asap 🤞🤞
Very interesting to see. The music seems very loud everywhere, and the speakers and lighting fixtures not hidden well. Poppy room and the indoor queues were most impressive. I think the Wizard is projected onto a scrim because you can see a dimmed version of it on the floor. Not sure if the black box with wires above it is the projector or not? Couldn't believe you didn't peek behind the curtain though!
I think this was so well laid out, but we were very disappointed that we only got the chance to go on the Kansas Twister ride yesterday. I went later in the day to go for White Christmas, and both rides were closed from around 4.30 :( Guess we will have to go back so try out the Wicked Witch ride.
Yeah, its ok but its definitely lacking in overall finished details...in the Oz section, the "Emerald City" walls need more detail and not just be plain green walls! That whole back outside queue area of both Kansas and the Witch with all those Black fences...needs some work, some theming and more details! Especially compared to the indoor queue parts for both coasters before that point! Its a major difference in detail and is kind of a shock! Also yes...the station for the Wicked Witch was pretty bland and disappointing! Like you said, there are some great spots here and there and some really poor spots that need work! Hopefully they spend some more and add more to this area over the next few years and improve these issues!
Wizard of oz, at Warner Bros world, looks amazing. Classic film, Wizard of Oz, from 1939. I am from Philadelphia. Maybe I go there in the future. Hopefully. I know Australia is the other side of the world. But never say never. Maybe I go and check it out. It looks sick. But watching this video, I really like the detail, good job.
To Oz. As a Brit, I was hoping these expansions would kick start some great rides and theming like in the UK parks of Thorpe part or Alton towers. I never expected universal standard or Disney, but I left in May very underwhelmed by the parks.
Hello fellow Brit! Yeah, I was hoping this would be something similar to Nemesis Reborn in the quality of theming, but sadly not... Dreamworld's new expansion down the road is awesome though and did indeed meet those standards for the most part
To be fair...almost EVERY parks new attraction has issues on opening day! We made the mistake of going to DCA when Cars Land opened and Radiator Springs Racers was a 6 and a half hour long queue! The ride kept breaking down...and that was back when Disney was still doing good things and HAD money lol
That happens all the time with new attractions even after months of testing. I worked at Disneyland Paris and the opening was the same, I tell people never to go to a theme park just because they have a new ride, wait six months for it to settle and iron out problems
Yeah, tech issues on opening days are normal, even with a lot of testing and soft openings. Problem here is that they advertised the land as being open, when in actual fact it was a "soft opening". Not a good move.
Wo. Oh my goodness wow. I'm a blind person, and I'm actually slightly confused/fascinated by something, the audio presentation. Can someone please describe the video sections to me? Once we get into the actual vid. Is there, essentially, different musical themes playing throughout, is it a scene you're walking through or are they facades? I can hear Over the Rainbow for a while but at one point when it stops we hear Come Out from Munchkinland in the sort of distance. So, in Movie World, how did they get to the presinct and what are we walking into/from? I'm now really interested, as it really seems you can hear each thing as you go near. Sometimes in theme park lands it's just one big loop throughout the entire land but this sseems... different?
Hey there! Thanks for checking out the video. The entrance to the land is located behind the Superman Roller Coaster. There's an archway with figures of the Wizard of Oz gang, and a Yellow Brick Road which leads to the main area. This is where "Somewhere over the Rainbow" gets played on loop. The main section of the land is a little courtyard themed to the Emerald City, with a large facade of the Emerald Palace. In this courtyard is also a very small facade of Munchkin land, with some Munchkin Houses. Here they play a few different instrumental bits of Oz music, which is where you heard "Come Out". You enter the Emerald Palace facade building, which leads to a well themed indoor version of the Wizard's room, with the Wizard's face showing on a screen. There's two side doors which lead to the Wizard of Oz Roller Coasters, with one being themed to the Wicked Witch, and the other being themed to Kansas during the Twister. The UA-cam channel "Jaggs Journeys" will have a similar video to min uploaded soon, but he talks, so it may be easier for you to enjoy. But thanks for checking out mine!
6:57 Crash, Crash, Crash... Why must you always muck in my mud! Oh look! I have a mask helping me too! We will find out which one is more powerful, SOON ENOUGH.
Isn't it going to get super hot with all that concrete and paint. Doesn't look like there would be any airflow. Kind of reminds me of a very, very cheap Mario world! Have to say Rivertown is looking much more appealing.
So they have Somewhere over the rainbow blaring in the Superman area now... That doesn't kill that section at all... Nice to see they have a wheelchair lift at 5:29. Was wondering how they were going to be inclusive for that area. Of course the old stair section did have ramps. The way the house, which is supposed to be on a farm, is sitting under an awning looks terrible. Overall you hit it on the head. They promised so much, and really didn't deliver. Seems typical of MW as of late.
For sure, lots of ups and downs in the land. I counted 4 lifts total, which was awesome (there's an elevator pun here somewhere). In retrospect with MW's recent doings we indeed should have expected this
Look, they obviously were rushing this area, i wouldve wanted to see more of the kansas theming throughout the rest of the queue and the walls around the area are quite plain and boring
Wooooh - I made it in another ogre video 😂😂 They had the mini live shows yesterday on as well! We managed to catch all 3 and thought they were brilliant especially the one with all the characters!
seems the lines to get on the rides have better theming than the ride itself. from the rides all other buildings and worlds can be seen. no thought has been given to immersion by making other worlds and buildings unable to be seen from the area that you are in. Disneyland and Universal do this very well. the black fencing, fire escapes and other buildings being visible ruins the theming. This doesn't seem to be done very well, they also need to stop with the roller coasters, doesn't the park have enough of them, a well presented dark ride for this would have been much more successful i think. taking into account this park doesn't have one, except for scoobydo, which is a nice ride but still a roller coaster built in a shed. Village roadshow need to go back to the drawing board i think, maybe go visit a disneyland or universal to see how they do it before they build their next attraction.
@ThemeParkOgre yes exactly, they would have been better off not doing. The roller coaster and employing a flat ride trackless system through the line theming area. Haha. The theming in there looks great and is a major let down when coming out of there into a bunch of industrial stairs and fences to wait for a roller coaster that is similar to the 4 other coasters they have
After Watching this video it honestly felt like the Emerald place was the only thing worth the wait, don’t get me wrong the theming is good for the rides like the house and the poppy’s until you get outside, everything goes downhill like the castle station for the flight of the wicked witch was by far the worst, the whole place looks pretty small, when I saw this video for the first time I was expecting a big lobby if you know what I mean, but it’s kinda all squished together making it look so cramped, I swear the promo video looked bigger, they put so much hype into this project for it to be eh.
My standards for Movie World are really low. Obviously they don’t have the budget of Universal or Disney, but to me this was better than average, I expected a lot less theming from them. To say that this is “world-class” theming is definitely an overstatement but I wonder if they rushed a couple things to get it open in time before the year ends? I mean the announcement felt very sudden, and I generally didn’t think it would open this year like they said. I reckon/hope they continue the theming of FOTWW after all the buzz has died down because compared to KT it looks sad. Other than that would’ve liked to have seen a couple of trees in between Munchkin Land and Oz kinda representing the journey between the two, doesn’t feel right all being one space but I get it. Regardless, they’ve impressed me and hope they put this much effort into the retheming of SDSC, and would love to see the show of Doomsday are be turned into another precinct seen as it isn’t being used at all
Yeah, a lot of the complains are coming from the "world class" hype. Would have been easier to accept if we knew it was going to be just well themed for GC park standards. I'm lowering my expectations for Scooby now!
Private Equity and the loss of Greg Yong to dreamworld shows the little detail placed into this. It certainly doesn't look $100 million worth of investment.
I'm trying to figure out where that 100m came from haha, there's no way it cost that. I'm really not a fan of a lot of VRTP's decisions since they got bought
The facades could go up to building height….munchkin land and giant industrial staircase takes you out of the story a little bit. I do enjoy the fact that the coaster vehicles are painted like the vests of the winged monkeys
i would say they are half way there. got some things perfect and others not. the entrance literally stepping over a coaster piling is very strange. theres really nothing going on in that big open area in front of the oz house. the oz is weird too. should of been a 3 dimenional face and maybe not be so loud and ask weird questions. they nailed both of the ques for the coasters. hmmm. maybe a 6.5/10
it's a bit disappointing that they were advertising this land to a very high standard, but it was quite lackluster... I know we can't compare it to disney or universal but after waiting for so long it feels like it should be better. I'm sure they will add small bits of theming here and there, it looks like they either ran out of money, or wanted to get it out before 2024 ends so they rushed it.
It’s good Movie World but a lot of missed opportunities ,easy to see the budget wasn’t anywhere near the same as Dreamworld has spent on Rivertown because sorry but that’s world class the presentation, finish, garden a all over a attraction you would expect to see at Disney land or Universal Studios.
great to get back to movieworld for the opening day of the wizard of oz land I am so happy this finally opened we waited so many years and it was long and it was def worth it theres no place like home and were on our way off to see the wizard at the wizard of oz land I love the figures so accurate and realistic great photo op the oz gang is so amazing! and I like that theyre playing somewhere over the rainbow over the speakers thats makes it so good! AHHH THE TORNADO/TWISTER WE BETTER BE CAREFUL Great graphics great how its like ur in the house and the tornado is going! Wow! well done really impressive 10/10 from seeing the promo pics This was amazing and now to see this on video is even MORE amazing, WOW! they really done a good job with it I like how you get to race with the other ride vehicle gives me vibe of radiator springs racer from disney california adventure a bit how were the queue lines? were big, long wait, short? ITS THE COW!! MOO COW Gotta love flight of the wicked witch it the same ride vehicle as that madagascar ride from Dreamworld (now changed) Lets play the elevator music while we wait LOL WHAT IS GODZILLA VS KONG DOING THERE THAT DOES NOT BELONG IN OZ!!! Flight of wicked witch will be so good to get on THATS COOL!! was it crowded and packed on a opening day or was it good? (AAAAAH!!!) Oz looks so amazing! You can never get over it I love it! THE WICKED WITCH IS MEETING OH NOOOOO THATS NOT GOOD!!! Thats sick! SHE NEEDS A BREAK! the great and powerful oz wants you to go on flight of wicked witch! OH NOO That themed queue was really sick Love how it was based around poppies SPOOOOOKYYYYYYY operations need to be a bit faster i think sun cream is good to protect you face love the castle adds great theming to it! Were you gonna get fastpass on the day so you could skip the queues? Were almost there! wicked witch must feel happy she got a ride atleast the oz gang will put water on her and she will say IM MELTING IM MELTING i think man i thought it was gonna be like leviathan thats sad but atleast we got flying monkey thing love when it goes fast I know right! just dont really like the station to it! kinda pisses me off leviathan queue station is def better than flight of wicked witch station i agree with you! SNEAKY OGRE HAHAHAH lol oh nooo GLINDA!!!!!! im already fed up with that wicked witch station! i thought it would be much bigger and now its smaller ! lets go to dreamworld cant wait for update alright land Great update/video 10/10 well done TO OZ!
The land indeed had some great ups, but sadly more downs. The queue lines were pretty long for Wicked Witch, a lot shorter for Kansas Twister. I don't think i'd ever by Fastpass being a local! I am really sad the stations weren't like Leviathan. To Oz! Thanks for watching!
Hey, welcome! Most channels speak, so I'm trying something different. My goal is to make it more about the parks and less about me, with the clips being more immersive like you're there yourself with just the park sounds
This is average at best. I don’t understand how they havnt figured out sight lines yet. Go into an area to see a sky painted half way up a studio building is terrible. There is nothing immersive about this, feels bit, bland and empty. Compared to like a Super Nintendo world or fantasy springs this is like temu.
Honestly it kinda sucks. The textures are all bland and feel cheap and not magical. The land is not immersive with the painted fake wall and overall it is very disappointing. The emerald palace feels like lex luthor and not a steampunk building like it should. Very disappointing.
This feels like such a waste using something as iconic as the Wizard of Oz theme on something that looks so underwhelming and cheap. Here's to hoping that Universal eventually blows us away with a fully immersive Land of Oz / Wicked themed land or major attraction!
Thanks for watching! In this video we visit Wizard of Oz land for the first time, check out the rides and theming and I give my HONEST review. It's a mixed bag. I hope you enjoy the Vlog!
Man, it seems super weird to have these amazingly themed queue rooms that then just lead into blazing sun and black fences.
It's giving "we run out of money but enjoy the ride!"

It is very weird and not good at all. Especially on quieter days when you speed through the well themed section and have to wait in the sun
@@SmathmotheAwesome That's sad to hear.

WB on the gold coast is like ordering a theme park from Wish.
Best theme park in Australia tho in terms of rides
it's nothing compared to disney, but there is no disney in australia. it may not be mind blowing, but it's the best themed park in all of australia

As polite as this review was, imagine having a theme park experience so negative that you decide to leave and go to their competition down the street!

The yellow brick road looks more The Beige Brick road, doesn't look a bright yellow to me.

Tech issues on the first day of opening….well done movie world!!
Guess that's what happens when they suddenly decide to open it because their competitor up the road is doing tech rehearsals.
That happens all the time with new attractions even after months of testing.
I worked at Disneyland Paris and the opening was the same, I tell people never to go to a theme park just because they have a new ride, wait six months for it to settle and iron out problems
Hyperia: am I a joke to you?
The lack of shade is worrying..... You'd think they would know outdoor sections need cover by now!
Agreed, it's very weird they didn't add more shade
I think, because they promised to open it by now, they actually rushed it... I agree, it looks like 'half way'... 😕
Hopefully they'll add some more stuff to it... time will tell
Not sure what you mean about the shows. They had multiple shows on yesterday. Great use of the land
I guess we missed them! The app stated they started running on the 27th. I'll have to try and catch them next visit
I would have preferred a willy wonka themed park
In Sydney?
A well themed Wonka land has a lot of potential
6:57 Crash, Crash, Crash... Why must you always muck in my mud! Oh look! I have a mask helping me too! We will find out which one is more powerful, SOON ENOUGH.
Crash 3 is one of my favourite games of all time. I read that in Cortex's voice haha
Isn't it going to get super hot with all that concrete and paint. Doesn't look like there would be any airflow. Kind of reminds me of a very, very cheap Mario world! Have to say Rivertown is looking much more appealing.
Will be interesting to see. It did give me some Nintendo World vibes after doing that recently in Japan haha
It does feel a bit rushed, or at least showcasing a small budget
Wooooh - I made it in another ogre video 😂😂
They had the mini live shows yesterday on as well! We managed to catch all 3 and thought they were brilliant especially the one with all the characters!
haha, you're famous! Hope you had a good day!
Oh, they're on now? Interesting, I thought they started with Hooray for Hollywood
This update is "wicked!"
Thank you, I defied gravity to get it uploaded fast!
seems the lines to get on the rides have better theming than the ride itself. from the rides all other buildings and worlds can be seen. no thought has been given to immersion by making other worlds and buildings unable to be seen from the area that you are in.
It's a shame the rest of the land wasn't like the awesome indoor queue lines
Agreed, it's a shame it wasn't more consistent
I'm lowering my expectations for Scooby now!
ooo Wizard of Oz Land is Open i can't to go there
Hope you get to visit one day, Shadow!
I agree. I do like the trains for both coasters, they're really well detailed
Unrelated topic but do you think Doomsday gonna close forever since I haven’t seen it open for months!
Yeah, it looks like it's never going to open. I believe the park are currently deciding how to replace it
i would say they are half way there. got some things perfect and others not. the entrance literally stepping over a coaster piling is very strange. theres really nothing going on in that big open area in front of the oz house. the oz is weird too. should of been a 3 dimenional face and maybe not be so loud and ask weird questions. they nailed both of the ques for the coasters. hmmm. maybe a 6.5/10
That's very fair, I'd have to give it a similar score. Just a bit more work and it'd be solid
I feel like they could have done something better with the walls I think dream world has done a way better job with attention to detail in rivertown
Agreed!
TO OZ!
To Oz! Thanks for watching :D
it's a bit disappointing that they were advertising this land to a very high standard, but it was quite lackluster... I know we can't compare it to disney or universal but after waiting for so long it feels like it should be better. I'm sure they will add small bits of theming here and there, it looks like they either ran out of money, or wanted to get it out before 2024 ends so they rushed it.
It does feel like it was on a limited budget. They really shouldn't have advertised it as "world class"
My dad was built this
Awesome!
Is it just me, or does the Wicked Witch look suspiciously more like Cynthia Erivo than Margaret Hamilton?
Definitely!
It's a shame as they could have made it world class like Rivertown, all the ingredients were there... but they half baked it
7:44 bro looks like megamind
haha!

TO OZ!
Ewww!! What a nightmare. I don't think I'd go there if you paid me.
Wasn't the best was it?
First time visiting your channel. Why don't you speak?
Hey, welcome! Most channels speak, so I'm trying something different. My goal is to make it more about the parks and less about me, with the clips being more immersive like you're there yourself with just the park sounds
@@ThemeParkOgre fair enough
Dont get me wrong it looks nice but it was just 1 step away from great
With a bit more work / a higher budget it could have rivaled Rivertown at Dreamworld for sure
Why can't we have anything in Sydney, all we have is the stupid Luna Park that has been around for decades.
The lack of a Theme Park near Sydney is really strange with Sydney being... well, Sydney.
Yup, needs a lot more work
Honestly it kinda sucks. The textures are all bland and feel cheap and not magical. The land is not immersive with the painted fake wall and overall it is very disappointing. The emerald palace feels like lex luthor and not a steampunk building like it should. Very disappointing.
Yeah, it could have been way better for sure
Not going to lie its a little lack lustre
agreed
This feels like such a waste using something as iconic as the Wizard of Oz theme on something that looks so underwhelming and cheap. Here's to hoping that Universal eventually blows us away with a fully immersive Land of Oz / Wicked themed land or major attraction!
Wizard of Oz really deserves a proper themed area. They were on to something with the indoor stuff, but the outside? Oh dear
What an overall disappointment. Spend your money at dreamworld! Their new land is alive, immersive and world class. This… this is not. 😢
I'd have to agree
Very weird and sparse looking
Yeah, it's a real shame
