PART 1-SHOULD I CHANGE MY 2017 HONDA CRF1000 FOR SOMETHING NEWER? OPTION 1, DUCATI MULTISTRADA V2S🤔

- I am considering changing my 2017 Honda CRF1000, for something newer/more power and a bit quicker through the twists, but still ADV style, for wifey on the back.
Love the AT, but should I change it. Time to visit dealers for test rides.
First up then is this, Ducati's 2022 Multistrada V2S.
Lovely bike, great handling machine with superb brakes and a very smooth engine.
Bike only had 41 miles on the clock, so careful with tyres, etc and couldn't stretch the engine.
I will have to try bike again, when I can rev it a bit more to unleash its full character.
The AT is a great bike and can hustle with that 21 inch wheel, but it does lack a bit of punch at times and that skinny front tyre can make things a bit sketchy.
World adventurer/off roader I am not, but I am a tarmac god!
Thanks to Owen at Bikers ,Jersey(not the USA one) for allowing me to demo the Ducati V2, certainly on the list, but with spoked wheels and a new exhaust!!
Bikers also do a large range of KTM parts etc

I picked my V2s with travel pack on March 2nd. Done nearly 1,000 miles now and am just getting used to it. I find it very comfy & easy to ride. I did 7 1/2hrs around Wales running it in with only a few mild aches & pains afterwards. Hope to keep it for a good few years.
how is the V2s about vibration in pegs and handlebar after a long ride? do you get numb?
@@mansb7570 There is vibration but i don't mind it as it is minor. I've done 2,700 miles now and quite a few 6 or 7 hour days riding and no numb hands or feet.
@@ianchamberlain1631 thank you for answer! I’m driving a R NineT now and considering swapping to a multistrada because of the vibe’s 😆
You can’t beat a Multistrada mate I’m on my 5th one, a 1200 Enduro model with a full Termignoni system she fly’s.
That’s what I was worried about ! I’ll keep my KTM 890r Duke for those kind of days . 😂
Just swapped out my GSA for one, a lot lighter and more fun, seriously underrated bike. After my GS I didn’t find it noisy and the induction howl is addictive..
I am leaning towards the GS , already spoken about the finance with the dealership. oh dear. I guess there are some of us that just have to give the GS a shot, especially when you get to that age 🤪. ride safe.
@@gsd32i The GS is great but it’s heavy at low speeds and you spend a fortune on parts to make it your own, it’s also so common because it’s so popular😜, I’m 61 by the way with a knackered spine🥲
@@IanTed there is a reason why its soooo popular and the Ducati parts list is more expensive than BMW's! Im deciding to wait for the new 1300GS, get a runout 1250GS or go the Multi V2S????????
Hi where is that nice coastal road you were on. Ps it took me a month to fully understand my multistrada but it was worth it cracking bike.
Hi Terry, east coast of Jersey, great scenic roads , even if the speed limit is 40 mph!
@@gsd32i thought I'd been there it is a nice part of the world my friend was brought up on jersey 😁
I have the 950S 2021 and love it. Wear ear plugs and you won't notice the rattles
Oh yeah I agree about the noise at town speeds .... it sounds terribly tappy .. like cam chain rattle or something knocking on the engine casings. Does make me feel better about the noise my 790 makes at the same speeds though, lol!! 😂
God, that's a good looking bike
take a shot everytime he says i like it :)
If you dont ever take it off road then yeah .. trade the AT in for something a bit more road biased with a 17 or 19 inch front wheel for more fun in the twisties 😉 ... Horses for courses ... I'd wager the AT would run rings around the V2S off road ...
yup, it definitely would. AT wearing battle scars from my off roading that's how poor I am off tarmac.
Screen is in the down position I noticed. There is a huge improvement in wind noise in the up position for me. Dont let that put you off until you try it in the up.
I did try the screen in all the positions. Lovely bike, but just had to go with the GS in the end ,but yes its a great bike .
Could you flat foot this bike, with a standard seat?
Nearly , I am 5’9😊
@@gsd32i Thanks!
I just ordered V2S in gray color :D I only tested the lower seat and it was okay. But I'm a bit afraid of the standard seat, didn't want to rush and order the lower seat until I test it.
@@milosmilosevic1695 nice bike . Enjoy 😊
You already have my perfect garage, I have the 890 but would love a africa twin
Thanks, to get rid of the old girl, not the wife, will take something special. It may be that the itch is scratched but i keep the AT, as it really is a great bike and sounds awesome at all revs even with the standard exhaust. It's just the urge to change, happens all the time to me!
@GSD321 it would be a shame to consolidate both bikes into one do it all, two is better than one and the ktm is one of the best bikes out for handling so you have a great mix of bikes I think
@@thejudge3040 yes , the 8890r will be staying👍
Yes sell your africa twin ( 100% reliability) and buy a ducati ( shit reliability)
Ducati shit reliability? You live in the past mate :)
@@liferuiner9045
Well look at latest poll on failure rates.
Even harley davidson are more reliable than ducati..These are facts not my opinion.
@@6269steve Still buying myself a brand new V2 S tho. In love with the bike.
I have almost the same itch right now... Currently ride a 2018 Africa Twin AS and would like something a little more sporty. I see you went with the GS but I want something lighter, three current contenders: 2023 Tracer 9 GT+, the Multistrada V2s and the new Transalp as a maybe
The v2 was a nice bike 👍
