    There'll never be another Roy Castle. What a star. It's a crime that he never got the major stardom he deserved.

      I agree with you totally. He was so talented. I had the pleasure of seeing his amazing performance at the London Palladium in Singing in the Rain in 1980s.

    We didn't know about Roy Castle in the States. We missed out on a lot of great entertainers from the UK.

      He appeared on the Garry Moore show in the US in the early 60s. Check out the paralleljulie UA-cam site for him working with Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews.

      He guested on the Garry Moore Show 42 times. But (aside from Benny Hill & Monty Python maybe) British talent and humour didn't cross the pond well.

    I have never heard Buddy play this song so simple...Sounds like he was maybe tired.

    Nice to see Buddy playing a straight 4/4 groove...that's pretty rare

    • @vova47
      @vova47 5 років тому

      That's 8/8 not 4/4. And it's not rare enough.

    @eocarcharia - True! Chat-show guests only get around $500 appearance money in the US and $120 in the UK (the HOST gets the BIG money).
    Thus they only normally turn up out of contractural obligation to promote a movie or some such.
    But appearing on Parky was FUN - so they'd come on for NOTHING!

    mrbuddyi: What is this piece called, anyways? -- I am not familiar with it, sorry. -- By the way, Buddy Rich's drums never sounded tired in his entire playing career.

    Drums seem out of sorts/ key.

    Horrible mix for the drums-and way slower than he usually played it

  • @vova47

    Horrid music - it's nether good jazz nor good rock. Buddy wanted to "stay young" and "keep with the times" - a mistake!
    I am sure he would come back to swinging jazz now.
