    Bear totem too!! I've always have such a love and connection with grizzly bears, specifically. I have such a hard time letting myself slow down and take a good winter's nap 🙅‍♀️ but lately I've been seeing a lot of dragon imagery in my oracle cards, songs, and a Breath of the Dragon meditation video that I LOVE so I definitely feel like I have a Dragon guide rn 🤔 thanks for the clarification on this topic!

      I'm so happy to know that you found it so helpful! Also, did you know I have a Dragon video, too? We all have multiple totems (We are far too complicated for our lives to be confined to just one), so you may be both a Bear *and* Dragon Person :) Here's the link if you feel that it would interest you: ua-cam.com/video/g6QQy9uY41o/v-deo.html
      Wishing you much joy! J

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm a very skeptical person, and i approach spirituality from a psychological perspective, but I still find a ton of value in working with the earth and nature. I have always been attracted to birds and wintry, mysterious mammals (like wolves, lynxes, snow leopards). I saw a mink for the first time when I was 16, and it stuck with me. I feel so connected to them. You've given me a lot to think and journal about. You are a goddess! 💛

    🦉 owls 🦎lizards🐞 ladybugs, lightning bugs, cicadas for the sound,tree frogs 🐸 and 🦆 are my favorite animals. Owls don't match my personality the other may very likely.
    Maybe my spirit guide is 🦉 owl and others my totem ????
    A few others are of inspiration like 🐺wolf , hummingbirds,wren etc

    Such a strong affinity and connection with Wolf. My intuition is never turned off and I find myself as a silent observer constantly. I may have internal intuitive chaos but often exemplify the calm outward reglity of the Wolf.

    I was once riding my bycicle along a river stream and all of the sudden this falcon leaped from a branch to my left and glided through the air in front of me.
    For a good 10 seconds I was just staring in awe as my speed was synchronised with this beautiful bird that was flying about 2 meters ahead of me.
    After this, he made a sharp right turn and proceeded to fly low over the water, his wing tips nearly touching the gleaming water before crossing the stream and dissapearing in the woods.
    It was a beautiful moment that after 2 years still fills me with joy and wonder to this day.
    Ever since then, I have had this fascination with different types of birds.

    Ravens and Hawks are very rare in our country, like so rare, but now that it's winter, I'm always outside under the sun reading and one morning while I was thinking about my life, I heard a Raven. And one noon, I was down with fever and looked up at sky and saw a white hawk flew pass above me.

    There are 9 life Totem Animals part of you, 7 for each direction which also have meaning E.g. the guide of the child-self and so on representing the directions of the medicine wheel, and the directions also include above, bellow and within(which is also everywhere since within is universal consciousness) and two more personal protective totems that balance the masculine and feminine energies of your soul. masculine(warrior and adventurer side) and feminine side( nurturing and family oriented side), when one of these are out balance one needs to tune him/herself to the earth energies again. Very good video I agree with almost everything said ... thank you for posting it

    My totems are crow , bear and wolf .
    My recent spirit guide ( on January 10th 2018 ) is weasel . I live in the suburbs but have hares , weasels , raccoons, chipmunk etc all sit or check out my downstairs bedroom window .
    I'm tickled pink by weasel hanging around , she's keeping the mouse population at bay . I can tell that weasel is a she because of her size . A winter version of the long tail weasel 😊💜💜💜💜💜

    • @RavenLightHolisticHealing
      @RavenLightHolisticHealing  9 років тому

      Thank you so much, Raven! Yes, that is one of my art quilts :-) It's actually the only one I've ever done that's based off an established pattern; if you're interested, the original design is called "Moon Over the Mountain," and you can find the template Online. It's very easy :-) The quilt itself has a LOT of meanings for me, but the original idea behind it was "stability amidst change." The triangle is the chemical symbol for change, yet is also the most stable shape, and the moon may show us a different face each night, but it is always the same moon, and it goes through the same cycle endlessly. It made me feel like even in the midst of chaos, there were certainties. Considering that chaos did indeed follow its creation, it's now become a reminder that my Higher Self knows what's going on, even if I don't! LOL! Warmest blessings, and much love and light to you!

    This has always been a little confusing to me but it's true they always show up at a particular time in life when a certain thought process is happening or major change needs to occur. Last night i was visited by a boar/ possibly warthog?...in a dream. They look somewhat similar. Animal totems/guides just have this way of presenting themselves to you that is very different from random dream symbolism. At least that's been my experience.

    Thank you. I enjoyed it. Today I experienced a traumatic event when I saw a big bird upside down on the wooden fence and I knew it was in trouble. I tried to get it unstuck and finally got a branch to fit in between and yanked hard and with the other hand I pulled him up with a decor license plate which was nailed and I was so happy to see him fly off. He had big beautiful golden eyes. I did tell him I was helping him and not to dare try to bite me. I almost cried trying to set him free from it

    Foxes have always been in my life. I dream about them often especially before something very good or bad happens. Sometimes I see a fox with a half white face in my dreams - usually nightmares. Similarly, if I see them in real life, it’s like a sign something good or bad is going to happen. I usually don’t believe in spiritual things, but it’s hard to ignore how obviously present the Fox has been in my life. I’ve always been drawn to polar bears and orcas too. I always say those 3 are my favorite animals. I’m not sure if my love for the other two is significant though. They aren’t present like the fox, but I love them just as much.

    I think my totem and spirit guide is a cat. I've always loved cats and felt a connection to cats. I've had litters of kittens and many of my family members have cats as pets. Whenether i see a cat i cannot look away and im facinated by them. They make me feel calm and happy. Ive been seeing cats everywhere lately, in my back yard, near cars, near the roads and on fences and walls.

      I'm so glad the video resonated with you, Jackie! With regard to Elephants, you may wish to watch my video on Elephants (also on this channel), as that provides a deeper exploration of what Elephants represent than I can provide here (I also have a book about Elephant as a totem, "Animal Totems and Spirit Guides: The Wisdom of Elephant). To answer your question as succinctly as possible, Elephants really have a lot to do with emotionality and with finding a balance between serving others...and losing ourselves in that service. At this time, more people are having more and more difficulty handling their strong emotions (hence all of the violence, rampant drug/alcohol use, and increasing number of people requiring prescription drugs for mood disorders, as well as the increase in cancers, which are tied to unresolved emotional issues). There is a DEFINITE need for people to begin examining and understanding their feelings rather than attempting to repress them, or worse, acting on them! We are really being called to become CONSCIOUS of what is creating our feelings, and to take responsibility for ourselves. At the same time, it is imperative that we seek friends and family who can help us while we do that, and in our increasingly social-media-driven age, more people are expressing feelings of loneliness, and a craving for close ties. Elephants (female, at least) require family to survive and thrive. Too, Elephant asks us to learn to serve from a place of *love*, rather than obligation. An increasing number of people are becoming aware of how much of what they do for others comes from a place of guilt, rather than joy, and are seeking to create a balance between loving others and loving themselves. Hope this helps! Warmest blessings to you!! Jordana

    The Golden Eagle has come into my life for the last three weeks as messenger. I am seeing them everywhere. The first time, I was on the playground with some of my students and co-workers (I work with kids who have special needs). Immediately me and a very intuitive boy looked up and saw three of them circling above the playground fairly high. (He loves to wear my stone necklaces, and hold the rocks/minerals I bring in) He shouted excitedly, "Eagle!" , and immediately one swooped down very, very close. GORGEOUS!!! Nobody else seemed to notice. I wonder if eagle is part of his totem. I have had similar experience with hawks (Hawk I haven't seen you in a while) and then one is suddenly circling above my head.

    Today there was a dead rat in the middle of parking space. He was just died because I walked there just before and he wasn't there. So I went home get me some things so I could move the rat. So I picked him up and put under tree and put some leaves on top of him.
    Is there any symbolic message here? The rat looked like smiling and he was so cute. It was actually very beautiful moment there. I've actually had few pet rats when I was a child... I know people usually don't like rats but I don't know... to me the experience was beautiful.

    I also was afraid the freaking bird eating cat would come to attack him because I did not want to have to hurt the cat trying to rescue the beautiful bird. The cat has lots of food as it is. And the way the bird looked up at me with the big golden eyes was touching. I am not sure if it was an owl, hawk or falcon but it was beautiful. I was eating pecans from the trees. I hope he is ok

      Olga King Wow, Olga! It sounds like you had quite an experience yesterday!!! In many cases, when we are called on to rescue an animal in the loving way that you did, there is a part of our self that is requiring rescuing as well. It may be that you, yourself are feeling stuck or threatened at this time and in need of freedom and/or protecting. In freeing your bird, you are creating the perfect energy to free yourself, so way to go for following your heart and instincts and helping out the wing-baby! Many, many blessings to you, and keep a look out for more bird-experiences. It sounds like this may be the beginning of a series of messages for you. With much warmth, Jordana

    This was very helpful. Thank you. I became obsessed with sea turtle last summer. I painted a huge painting of it, bought sea turtle figures. Had one hanging in my car. Helped a (regular) turtle cross the road. Then I went to a sea turtle hospital and visited all them. After that day, my fixation with them was done. I remember when fox and owl were big. I never got into either one of them because I thought they were both symbols of shadiness and deceit at the time. I’ve noticed llama got big a couple years ago! How about that.

    My power totems are the Fox, the Dolphin. They totally describe my personality. I do have a strong affinity for Hawks, and Arctic Wolves though. A Hawk landed not 3 feet in front of me once. He was about 18 inches high and his wingspan was between 4 to 5 feet. We made direct eye contact and I felt this wave of love and connection. We communicated for 15 to 20 minutes before he got up and flew away. It was definitely a spirit animal and a pretty life changing experience.

    Is there a possibility that there is a combination? For example I've found there is 4 types of spirit guides. The messenger- the quick memo , the journey guide- the one who shows up when you're at a fork end of your journey, the life guide-the one who is with you your whole life, and the shadow guide- the one who represents fear.. I ask because from my personal experience- I've always had the company a wolf. I was toddler when she found me and is still with me from this day. Giving me messages/guidance when she feels I need it. But also- I see a lot of myself in this type of animal/animal totem as well. I can connect to them on a whole different level. I've always been closer to wolf like dogs (german shepherds and siberian husky) I can pretty much connect to most canine creature descended from the Wolf itself. I've seen her in dreams, meditation, and a few times physically. It's rare but it has happened. With people around me too. She's a huge part of me and has shown me a lot. Taught me how to follow my gut, Always eager to gain more to/share my wisdom, loyalty and how to communicate and control my emotions. I promise i'm not trying to give a hard time I'm just speaking through my experience growing up. How "She" as i call her affected me myself as a person and my obsessions. The better irony to all this too is I recently discovered my last name "Love" (which was originally Luiff) was Scottish form of the latin word "Lupus". So this really has had me opened.

    • @RavenLightHolisticHealing
      @RavenLightHolisticHealing  8 років тому +3

      That's a tough question to answer succinctly, James, because there isn't a hard and fast definition for either term. Many people use "power animal", "animal totem", "animal spirit guide", and "familar" interchangeably. When I speak about animal helpers, I use "animal totem" for those creatures that are a more permanent part of our journey, i.e., their wisdom is linked to our biggest and most growth-producing challenges, and certain of their qualities resonate with the way in which we express certain aspects of our personalities. They are NOT usually a physical presence in our lives, but are instead more symbolic (for example, Raven is one of my totems, but we do not have ravens where we live. I LOVE when I get to see them in real life, but they are not physically present on a daily basis. Similarly, one of my husband's totems is Gorilla, and he loves seeing them at the wild animal park, but it's not like he gets to hang out with them every day! Rather, the wisdom linked to their role as a totem is what has an impact upon him. Again, they offer guidance through symbolism). In my own mind, the terms "power animal" and "animal totem" are indeed interchangeable, I just try to steer clear of "power animal" when write books and do videos, because I don't want to confuse people. But you really *could* use either. When we talk about a "familiar", it gets more complicated. Historically, a familiar was thought to be a creature that did a witch's bidding; it may have physically helped him/her carry out spells (sometimes in a sinister fashion), or it may simply have leant its power to the creation of the spell. These days, I hear the term "familiar" applied rather recklessly; people often call their beloved pets "familiars" simply because they feel a kinship with the animal, though no actual "spiritual" communion occurs. I also hear it used often among those who identify themselves as Pagan or Wiccan, and again in reference to a pet with which they feel a kinship. In this case, the animal takes on the quality of a sibling or beloved friend, but it is not a source of guidance in the same way as a totem or spirit guide. From my own experience, "familiar" only seems to get used when the animal is a daily part of one's life. I hope that helps! Cheers and blessings to you! Jordana

    ravens and hawks! me too! i've had recurring dreams (borderline sleep paralysis/ night terrors) involving a raven-woman who is simultaneously terrifying and compelling. of late, i've been noticing more hawks in my life; yesterday one flew right over my head.
    i've always regarded bison as my spirit animal/totem...i just have a lifelong, enduring love of them...now i'm curious to think on the distinction between totem and guide. years ago, while in grand teton park, i was held up on a road (mormon row, if memory serves correctly) where the buffalo determined who passed and when. though i know good and well not to screw with wild bison, a lifelong dream was realized when a huge, shaggy beast stuck his gead right in the car, grunted and allowed the briefest of nuzzles.

    Jordana, first thank you for everything, secondly let me repay you with some creative feed back: what if your totem is like the spinal column of a human... but instead of having chakras on it, you have animals... what if the number of totem animal is the same as the number of chakras? I know that the number can change according to the way to view the data, like koans in zen tradition, several lectures according to the level of consciousness (different pair of glasses really)... but I thought maybe eight would be interesting, because of the symbol of the caduceus ; all the eight on it going back and forth to infinity like a crazy hot-road toy car circuit with Kundalini shakti zooming on it (which makes sense if you know about electrical circuits, especially AC in a house for instance... or a similar thing with water)... helix everywhere, and eight being the infinity symbol, I've seen Ankhs with caduceus on it, the ankh who is a symbol of infinity too, of creation of life, the sexual/creative part of male and female intricated one into the other, like the Shivling in hindu religion... I mean; you know, an infinite number of infinite number, which would explain while there is no end to life... because it replicates itself, like the cells of a baby after the egg was fertilized by a spermatozoid. The big bang, expantion... oh shit, I have to go, I just blew my own mind again... sigh, I just did redone the pain job, jeezus... that's what happen when you try and free your mind, he doesn 't want to come back, always out to drink with his friends, making childrens to other brains you don't even know about... howling at the moon at three in the morning you have to come to pick him up in strange places, when the cops didn't catch him , , pray he doesn't eat by zombies on the way, or get a shower at midnight while eating with someone wanting to take advantage of him, it is good to have a dirty mind, I NEVER wash my brain if I can help it... ah it's hard to raise those kids... you have a great whatever you're having just now dear :3 Anyway, joke apart, and that brainstorming done, I hope it'll give you ideas that you'll share with us... this is team work Earthling, we have to understand what is the answer that is answered by 42 :3

Maybe some of that information will help you. @CristinaRodriguez-go3gr 5 років тому +2

    What happens if your spirit guide gives you the message and you receive it, but then sticks around. Does that mean it is your totem? Also, what if your are afraid of your spirit guide physically and not really spiritually in meditations and stuff? If I can get some feedback that would be amazing. Thank you for the video and Blessed Be.

    • @RavenLightHolisticHealing
      @RavenLightHolisticHealing  5 років тому +3

      If it sticks around, yep, probably a totem :) Or...you just haven't made use of the message yet. Receiving the message is only half the equation; we also have to DO something with it before the Universe considers the matter resolved. With regard to your second question, a little fear of a wild critter in real life is actually healthy. If you're terrified of the animal all the time even though you don't often have contact with it, that's one thing, but otherwise, some trepidation is normal and actually a VERY good thing. People tend to anthropomorphize those animals that they relate to as totems and expect them to behave like humans; but the truth remains that these are wild, often unpredictable creatures, and it is best for us AND THEM to keep our distance (Unless we are talking about an animal that has been raised around humans; that is a different story!). For example, Bear is one of my own totems. I love bears, and I work with them frequently in a metaphysical sense; here, they are friends and companions and teachers. But I also grew up in bear country, and I recognize that a bear in the wild may have its own agenda that most certainly does not include me! I'm not frightened of bears, but if I encountered a grizzly, I would definitely not try to give it a hug, and I have no doubt I would experience some concerns about my safety. This isn't to say that some rare souls do not have the kind of fearless connection with their totems that allows them to interact closely and safely with them, but that for MOST of us, having an animal as a totem does not necessarily mean that we feel no hesitation whatsoever about being close to it. Hope that helps! Blessed be

    You have the most accurate breakdown of the character traits of totems and guides I have seen online so far, I really enjoy your videos.
    I would like to add, that based on my personal experience, and based on ancient African and Native Indigenous cultures where the concept of totems originated, totems are connected to bloodline incarnations going back to tribal collectives.
    For example, I have Aztec, Potawatomi, Lakota, and Hebrew Tribe of Dan bloodline ties. The Aztecs had a winged feathered serpent (dragon) totem who was worshipped as a god, I have a dragon totem. The Tribe of Dan has a totem of the serpent, particularly the adder or viper, I have that totem, the Potawatomi has fire as their totem, I also have fire as a totem, linked to my dragon totem, Raven and Blackwidow are also my totems from my mother's side, the Lakota bloodline, and I have those totems.
    Also according to these cultures we are not to kill or eat our personal totems.
    In a nutshell, totems are are linked to conscious collectives and bloodlines, culturally speaking.

    When I was hog hunting out of a tree stand one evening I had a marvelous 30 minute visit with a possum! I watched him eating, then he walked right up to the base of my tree and relaxed, gave himself a bath, and sneezed. That evening I watched a total of 3 possums scampering around. So what is the difference between totem animals and power animals ?

    • @RavenLightHolisticHealing
      @RavenLightHolisticHealing  4 роки тому +9

      This is a bit of a gray area, Victor, as the terms *can* be used interchangeably. However, my understanding is that a totem is a lifelong symbol for a part of who you ARE; in some way, it represents you, or what you are here to learn and experience. A power animal is an energy that can be invoked to help you in specific circumstances. So for example, if you need strength setting boundaries with others, you might call on Wolf for assistance, or if you need to improve your work ethic, you might call on Honey Bee. These creatures might then lend you some of their own essence to help you with these specific issues. I do not work with power animals in this way (I accept whatever I am given in the belief that the Universe knows better than I do what I need in each situation, but do not ask for specific assistance), so please take my answer as that of someone who is familiar with the concept, but not an expert.

    I live near BYU campus, at the base of the Wasatch mountains. I’m near a river that runs from the canyon to Utah lake, and wildlife can follow it all the way down from the mountains.
    But to see a lynx so far west of the canyons , just causally wandering down the hillside, was really a stunning surprise.

    i have a question some has told me that A yellow butterfly is strongly contented to my heart energy. .. is that good or bad?

    • @RavenLightHolisticHealing
      @RavenLightHolisticHealing  7 років тому

      There really isn't a simple answer to that one, Jennifer; I'd have to look at your energy directly to be able to tell you exactly what is going on there (yellow, like all colors, has both positive and negative qualities, and Butterfly can represent that you are either doing something positive for yourself already, or that something needs to change. Too, the yellow butterfly may have personal symbolism outside of the more common interpretations). Your best bet here is to ask yourself how YOU feel about this person's words. If you love the idea of a yellow butterfly being connected to your heart energy, then that is fabulous! But if it somehow makes you uncomfortable or frightens you, ask yourself why. Really sitting with the emotions the symbol evokes in you may help you understand exactly what it is trying to tell you...If it is trying to tell you anything at all! The person who said that to you may actually have NO CLUE what they are talking about; I can't tell you how many times I've encountered "spiritual" individuals who throw stuff like that out there, and it is not true at all. YOU are the expert on YOU, so just because someone tells you something about your spiritual, energetic, or physical being, that does not mean that it is true. Hope that helps! Much love, Jordana

      Melissa Asensio Usual twelve? Do you mean astrological association like the Chinese Zodiac? Whatever the case, your totem or spirit guide can be *any* insect or animal in physical or mythological existence (I run into people with Unicorn totems all the time! :-) The only exceptions are humanoid creatures like mermaids...Those aren't guides so much as kindred spirits. If you read either of my books ("Animal Totems and Spirit Guides: The Wisdom of Owl" and "...The Wisdom of Elephant", which you can get on Amazon), the first few chapters are devoted just to understanding animal totems and spirit guides and how to figure yours out. It gives a bit more detail than I give in the videos, so it may be helpful to you. They're both quick reads). Cheers, Melissa, and thanks so much!

    Does everyone have a totem animal? Or can someone not have one? Can they have more than one or have a hybrid totem animal? Can someone's totem animal be non-corporeal?

    • @RavenLightHolisticHealing
      @RavenLightHolisticHealing  7 років тому +3

      Hi, Zachery! Good questions! 1) As far as I know, everyone has a totem animal. However, they aren't *necessary* for spiritual growth; the Universe sends us those messages and messengers that will serve us best, and so I imagine that if someone has NO interest in animals whatsoever, the Universe would be less likely to send them an animal to help them develop themselves (because the person would just not be paying attention to guidance from this quarter). Instead, guidance would come through other forms. 2) As far as I know, ALL of us have more than one totem animal. This is because they relate to different pieces of our personality, and to different challenges we each face in our lifetimes. So Bear may help you with one part of yourself and your life, Ant with another, for example. 3) By hybrid, I take it you are meaning a creature that is a composite of two animals? The only place that I have seen this is with mythological creatures such as the griffon (half lion, half eagle). I've never seen someone with a basilisk (half rooster, half snake), but I imagine that is possible as well. Half-human creatures such as mermaids do NOT usually appear as totems. 4) By non-corporeal, are you meaning that the way in which we experience them is all on a mental/spiritual level, and that they do not exist in present reality? If so, this is how a lot of us actually experience our totems. In many cases, the animal does not appear in our present reality, but shows up in pictures, videos, books, signs, or we have a "vision" of it. Or, as often happens with me, I am simply "aware" that it is there. Hope this helps! Love and blessings, Jordana

    For my family, we call the inner animal like " pride of the wolf," " the strength of an eagle," "the stupidity of a goldfish," and yes, the last one has been used. For us, no one has the same animal because there are no two alike. They had to search for one for me, and I got " the stubbornness of a shoebill." I had to look the dang animal up when I was 13 to see what it was. It matches me all too well.

      In that case, I might have the Shoebill as a totem as well! Stubborn here, too! 😂 Your family sounds like a fabulous bunch. My own loves figurative language, and finding animal-similes to speak to one's inner-self sounds like a wonderfully playful way to go about the process. Wishing you a very happy spring, Lime!
