Bad news for sandra the new chinese space station requires a key to open the airlock..good news is the docking adapter is compitable with the US spacecraft
@@MFM230 Not Hans Zimmer m8. Steven Price did the soundtrack for this movie. It was his first time working on a major film such as gravity and the music you hear was only meant to be temporary. It wasn’t until the scene where the Iss was destroyed that director Alfonso Cuaron (pardon my spelling) realized he wasn’t going to get a better soundtrack. And guess what. The soundtrack won the Oscar
I just realised that every single person who isn't on earth in this movie besides 2 people either die or return to earth within the first 2 minutes. Thats freaky.
It's ironic that your name is Richard Parker because at the end of Gravity when Sandra Bullock is lying exhausted on the beach I half expected her to look up and see the Tiger from Life of Pi.
would that space suit be able to withstand the vacuum of space? i thought it was a flight suit which was only able to last a few minutes in an unpressurised area, not for EVAs, plus the thing doesn't seem to have an oxygen tank... I assume the umbilical is feeding her with oxygen...
The space station seems to be affected by strong wind currents. But Sandra Bullock is hardly affected by the wind, that little fire hydrant would not be enough to allow her to keep up with the station.
Dominic W or perhaps, “they” don’t understand the concept of that exaggerated amount of wind being presented (with all the station’s shaking parts to imply entry into the atmosphere) at that density of atmosphere and its effects in the “vacuum” of space....
What you don't understand, is that physics does not mean anything in this movie. This movie is not about physics... This movie is a about Life and Corrones. This movie is about faith to move forward even when Death is in front of you... _Interstellar : ...It is not possible... no, It is necessary!_ This is the beauty.
Notice that her space suit is not equipped with oxygen supply system. That should tell us something insightful regarding what has "really" happened to astronaut Ryan at this point of her "journey".
+Cesar Omiste There was air in her suit. If she was in space long enough to need an external supply she was dead anyway. She just needed protection from vacuum while she made the jump
According to the film's science adviser Kevin Grazier and NASA engineer Robert Frost, however, the pair are still decelerating with Stone's leg caught in the parachute cords from the Soyuz. The cords stretch as they absorb her kinetic energy. Kowalski thinks that the cords are not strong enough to absorb his kinetic energy as well as hers, and that he must release the tether to give Stone a chance of stopping before the cords fail and doom both of them.... but we aren't convinced of it.
This movie is so unrealistic. Hubble, ISS, Russian spy satellites, Chinese space station etc. are all orbiting at different altitudes and on different orbital paths. The space debris are moving so fast that it would be impossible to see them with naked eye. It may be a good movie for the average joe who knows shit about orbital mechanics but to Kerbal Space Program player and space enthusiast like me it is a load of bullcrap.

Um--okay.......as much as I LUV geeking out over science fiction movies, she--uh--she has no air supply in the vacuum.......of space. I'm just saying.. Movies such as this are the reason why soooo many people are science illiterate. They believe stuff like this that they see in the movies over actual scientific fact simply because these scientific stereotypes still permeate the public domain : the one-in-a-billion longshot chance of getting back aboard a space station using nothing but a fire extinguisher to maneuver oneself through the vacuum of space--**where is her air supply**??!! One can only stretch the "fiction" part of science fiction but so far..
its not hugely unrealistic, u could do all these things is just a low chance u would make it with the extinguisher and jumping whilst in high atmosphere but its possible
pramudi sukamto Maybe, but I have to find out who composed the scores. Dramatic, chilling, and terrifying at times. The music is the real star of this film.
star wars is meant to be that way. It is supposed to represent a world that we can see ourselves in, yet know that its one we will never be able to experience. this movie just doesn't know how science works. this movie was trying to be accurate to real life and fell flat on its face.
+Ish Scientists proved that this could actually work but you would need more flight control systems because you dont know velocity of the station and yourself but technically the fire extinguisher would do a decent amount of thrust because its just a gas thats released very quickly (newtons 3rd law i think) every action has a reaction
+FreakGaming Funny that people can actually even use fire extinguishers without some sort of anchoring system and harness and warnings that anybody under 200lb should not use them due to the force. I understand Newton's 3rd law quite well. The same applies to the jet pack scenes in this movie. There is no way that they could move around that quickly. Please type in "extravehicular activity" into youtube and watch the real thing. These are jet packs specifically designed for this unlike a fire extinguisher....or are you just trolling?
Ish How is it trolling that i say its very realistic and could work. Its maybe so fast because after all its still a movie do you want to see 8 hours off orbital manouvering with a fire extinguisher ? :D
I forgot how stressful literally every single second of this movie was
Agreed.
It really is, in the best way possible. Absolute masterpiece of a cinema experience.

Its funny that everyone leaves the doors unlocked on space stations.
They knew they were going to shoot a movie and left the doors unlocked. Actors were only asked to film quietly so as not to disturb the taikonauts.
Excellent work by this show

2:20 is that kowalski's body flying few moment before the space garbage hit and ryan saw it right before she open the door
I slowed down to see it but it looks like debris.
I'm 99% positive it is his body
Looks like a flat chunk of debris at 0.25x. In the movie he has a pretty beefy EV suit.

Maybe the air trapped in the suit was enough just for a couple of minutes
Thats a Russian space suit, it doesnt have a tank but it does have an oxygen hose en the middle.
