- In this video our family travels around Pattani town in the deep-south of Thailand. We are eating good food and talking to the lovely locals.

Mon is telling us about his childhood and why his parents hardly ever took him to the beach.
After we stumble upon a market on a different part of the beach. As is it the Hariraya, the Muslim celebration 6 days after the Ramadan, there market is packed with people who come to celebrate. There is good food, and lots of fun stuff for the kids. We try some typical Pattani food and some typical Thai food.
Evening time we visit a restaurant in Pattani town which had arabic and Middle-Eastern influence called Papa Tagu. See the location here:

Great job Maayan eating with your hands. Also I thought Mon's instructions on doing so was informative but super funny. Moroccans eat with their hands too. It's amazing how they can pick up a good size of couscous with sauce. Yes, it stands at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa. But geographically, it belongs to the Asian continent(not West) and is part of the Middle East region. In the west, Israel is bound by the Mediterranean Sea. Lebanon and Syria border it to the north, Jordan to the east, Egypt to the southwest and the Red Sea to the south.

We are in Kota Bharu , Malaysia. An Indian and Malay family..It’s about 150 Km from Patani . Previously Patani was part of Malaysia which Kelantan Sultan lost to Thai land in war.

Share the love and cultures. You are all doing a tremendous job opening eye's and hearts to a different Thai world. My Thai partner is a devoted Buddhist come Indian Hindu follower, hence we spend a lot of time visiting Wats, temple's especially around Chiangmai. She also have similar early childhood background, little time for fun recreation, mostly eke out a living. Thanks for sharing 👍

PATTANI History
AbstractThe border agreement between Siam and Britain in 1909 divided the Malaya territory into two parts, one is the three southernmost provinces and Satun province in Thailand, the other is the states of Kelantan, Tereng-ganu and Kedah in presentday Malaysia. The agreement not only divides the land but also separates the same ethnic group of peoples into an immensely different livelihood. This article examines crucial factorsinfluencing the 1909 border agreement between Siam and Britain.It argues that there are five factors influencing the agreement, i.e., nationhood and ethnicity, a successor state, the economy and administration, the state’s Image, and British imperial policy toward Malaya. Siam claimed her supreme power over the Pattani Kingdom (present day the three southernmost provinces of Thailand), whereas the other Malay states were just considered tributary states (‘Prathesrach’). In fact, the British policy was not aimed to annex the Malaya territory on the Siamese side. Therefore, Britain chose to make a secret convention with Siam in 1897. The convention states that the Malay territory in Siam would be the British sphere of influence. In 1907, Siam asked to cede her Malay territory in exchange for the cancellation of the secret convention, so that she could go with the construction of the southern railway. The negotiation concluded in 1909, when Siam agreed to transfer the states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis and adjacent islands to Britain. However, Britain cancelled the secret convention as well as the extraterritorial jurisdiction over Siam, and then gave a loan for the construction of the Siamese railway. According to the agreement, Siam still keeps some Malay territories including Monthons (circles) of Pattani, Satun (splitting from Kedah) and Tak Bai (splitting from Kelantan).Keywords: the 1909 Siam-Britain border agreement, the three southernmost provinces of Thailand.

I like your video, I miss when I was in Malaysia, the food like Lekor, nasi Biryani, fishball, beef ball. Pattani a place where people speak two languages Thai and Malay. One of the place I want to visit when I was in Malaysia, but during that time there's conflict between Thai government and revolutionary movement.
Hopefully you will get another chance to visit this lovely place.

Yeah for sure! I can suggest our places for example! Green Pepper or Wooda House in the Old Town. But of course you need to see if it is rhe right fit. There are so many nice hotels on our island, hundreds of them! So I'm sure you will find the one that fits you. Big hugs!
