I'm very late with this... But, about 3 months ago I was inside a market in Burbank California, and before I left the market this song began playing...i was already a fan... So when I heard it in public I stopped and smiled.. then left the market 😊
I can't explain the effect this song has on me. It makes me feel as though I were looking forward to something grandious that's just about to happen in my life. Maybe the most important encounter. Something grandious yet very intimate, like an encounter with Jesus. I hardly understand the lyrics (not a native speaker), which allows my imagination to fly high based on music alone 🙃 I wonder what the others feel while listening to this magical song.
I'll admit I've not met many band but I've met these was given an invite to Corner House in Manchester after thier show at the Ritz, they where so approachable and friendly.
Back in 2013, i went to the Festival d'ete in Quebec City. Belle & Sebastian were playing on the first day of the festival and it was also my birthday. What a gift!! I was there during the soundchecks of the opening bands and Stuart Murdoch was just there in the background. Very chill and friendly. I feel that they are very normal people, in the most perfect way. They are amazing artists but they are not separate from us. And that's why they make good art!
My kid and I danced to this as part of our morning exercise regimen every day during Covid lockdown. Hate Covid but love the memory of our daily livingroom dances.
I was first introduced to B&S by my dear friend Geoffrey as my Christmas gift in 1998. He surprised me with their 3rd album "The Boy with the Arab Strap" and the minute I played it that night I was in love. I have been obsessed and have followed their musical career and seen them play live 50+ times, first time at Coachella in 2002. I never get tired of seeing them as there is never a dull moment with these guys and no show is alike. Thank you B&S for giving us the best gift ever, your music and for giving it all when you write and play these songs, not only did you help me cope with life in my early twenties but you still inspire me to listen and get lost when I listen to you.
"In between I watch and go, I run alongside rush hour traffic, A prayer for every car" The second time through I realized what it says, then what it means. I still get all teary-eyed when I hear it. But it's more than just the words. These guys are magic
Until recently, I was only aware of "Another Sunny Day." "I Want the World to Stop", however, is an amazing song. Great chord changes, lyrics, and performance. Very intrigued by this band.

I cannot believe I had never heard of B&S until about 18 months ago and boy do I feel I missed out big time. First heard them on BBC Radio6Music (CoE IIRC) after getting a DAB radio after years of listening to the drivel that is BBC Radio1. Wish I'd heard them way back then, but at least I now have a great selection of B&S tracks to listen to now. Yey!
I think 'Write About Love' is one of the most underrated albums of the band discography, and one of the best pop albums (or indie pop) made in 21st Century, like Rumours from Fleetwood Mac, it will still survive through the years with that clean, modern and romantic sound.
Somehow this song has existed for 9 years without my hearing it. . . until now. How do musical masterpieces like this go unknown? Has rap destroyed musical taste?
I'd argue American Pop has destroyed musical taste. And it's all my wife listens to. There are some really good, talented artists (Kelly Clarkson, Pink - I am being serious, a couple of their early albums are REALLY good - a handful of others I'm sure) but so much of it is just meaningless trash with a hook.
To follow on my earlier comment - radio is probably the biggest issue. Stations play the same crap over and over and over. There's so much good music out there and only a fraction of it ever made it over the air waves - and that's all I had growing up. In college my roommate had The Pixies on CD and I was blown away, and they were already broken up by then. Why they were not ever on the radio in lower MI, yet I'd hear songs like "Lady In Red" literally hundreds of times, is beyond my comprehension. Don't get me wrong, "Lady In Red" is a fine song I'm sure if radio hadn't completely destroyed it, as they did and continue to do for so many other songs.
Mis artistas favoritos: Rod Stewart, Bonnie Raitt y Belle and Sebastian. Y tengo 32 años 😉🤟

Belle and Sebastian is the most under appreciated band in the world.
Probably because the world has been brainwashed into mainstream solo pop. WAKE UP WORLD
Agreed, haha. But then wouldn't it suck if they, and other indie bands, turned into Mainstream pop?
I was listening to these guys years ago at school and got stick for it... who cares... they're brilliant!
How original! No, they're not.
I'd put Broadcast out there as one of the most under appreciated bands in the world
They always seem like good people. Their music, their focus, they just seem chill af.

This band is quite simply incredible . They have everything, plus more.
