I have a simple routine for my cast irons.
      1. Clean them off as soon as you can so it's easier to get the food bits off. ONLY USE WATER NO DISH SOAP. I may also carefully use a plastic scraper for a touch pieces.
      2. I sprinkle the inside LIGHTLY with a general seasoned (like seasoned salt, Creole, garlic butter powder etc) then drop in some olive oil and use a paper towel to spread the oil w/season all over the inside and finish it up with coating the outside/bottom and sides. DON'T FORGET THE HANDLE.
      3. Bake it in the oven on 200-250 for 20-30 minutes (1-2 hours is preferable) after that let it cool down before putting away (it's ok to forget about it until the next day. I do)

    • @BillyBigRiggin359

@@OkButWhy_ everything’s perfect except the olive oil. Olive oil has a very low smoke point so it will burn and fill your house with carcinogens and leave a nasty taste on your food. I prefer avocado oil because it has the highest smoke point and a good flavor. Veg oil, and i think canola and peanut oil also work. Anything with a high smoke point really. The oven method is beat for initial seasoning and rescue seasoning after a heavy clean or accidental burning off the coating because you forgot you left your pan on the burner on high…. Lmaooo. But for a well seasoned pan i just clean it out with hot water and a soft scrub brush. Then set it on the stove on high and use a paper towel to coat it with some oil and let it sit a couple minutes, reducing the heat when it just starts to smoke, then i turn the burner off and let the pan sot on the hot burner as it cools. Alot more efficient than putting in the oven everytime. And with the high smoke point oil you want 450 in the oven for 1 hour minimum for initial seasoning. Because one of the best part about cast iron is high temp searing!
