Yeah, its really a 'suburb truck'. But being similar to an SUV and truck is very appealing to us who live in the suburbs. An occasional piece of new furniture, sacks of concrete and lumber for home project, perfect. I appreciate this video because of its detail. I appreciate that someone would do one like this to spare me the visit to the 'shark pool' dealer to find out. Owners of the 'black' model are complaining about how much it shows dirt. btw
I bought the 2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL-T one month ago. My truck is black on black. Having had a 2013 Ridgeline I have a pretty good baseline on the previous Ridgeline vs. the 2017 model. Without a doubt, the latest version by Honda is quieter, gets MUCH better milage, drives smoother and I like the new exterior profile better than the previous Ridgeline. The technology on the new model is crazy good. I has taken me about one month to really command the different options on the in navigation control panel. Apple Car Play is just great. The Honda dealer could have done a much better job getting me up and running with the in dash screen. The long turning radius and lack of the rear window in all models except the Black and E version are the only negatives I have found. I also own two Lexus SUVs. The technology on the Honda is better, much better. Fit and finish is about the same. Time will tell, but so far the new Ridgeline is a great truck that fits my needs as both a daily driver and weekend work truck. I would buy it again.
You forgot the right turn camera the shows up on the screen when you put your blinker on. Other than that you did a great job to showing the truck off. I just bought one myself. Rides crazy smooth (nothing like a truck ride)
Another great review, so complete and thorough---head & shoulders above the rest. Because of your review I bought the 2016 Pilot, and it's an awesome vehicle. Thanks again.
My dad's gonna buy one today! Can't wait to see it!!! He's also getting a RTL-T but in the pearl white exterior with the beige leather interior. It's gonna replace his old 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac which he's had since it was new! He's super excited!!!
Two things are stopping me from buying the Honda Ridgeline.... 1. The sticker shock! 2. Taxes in S. California, depending where you live, is now at 8.9%. That can add from $3,000 to $4,000 onto the price of the Ridgeline folks.
yep I live in las vegas and the taxes are at 8.15% total rip off. That will add $3000-$4000 to the price, not to mention the price of the title and doc fee??????
What is the height of the bed surface to the ground ? What is the length and the width of the bed to fit an ATV or motorcycle without putting the gate down ?
do I need to buy new WeatherTech floor mats or do the ones from previous model Ridgeline fit? the rears look like they would but not too sure of the fronts.
This is one of my biggest annoyances with Honda. They force you to step up the the highest trim levels (RTL-E or Black Edition) to get a sunroof. It's kind of shady, considering how much this RTL-T trim costs. They at least should have included it on this trim too. They also do the same thing with BSM and other safety features that should be standard on this one. I love the Ridgeline and will probably buy one, but Honda did get a little crazy with the trims and pricing.
This thing definitely has some cool features but I can't get past it's "soft" look. Even my wife said she wouldn't drive it because it looks too much like a mini van. I went with the Tacoma instead but I can see the appeal that people have for this truck. It's really purpose built for the suburbs.
Air Conditioning draws heat out of the car and creates liquid condensation around the evaporator coils that is dispersed under the car in the form of water.
did you replace the transmission fluid at 30-40k mikes? My transmission went out in my Ford Fusion before purchasing 2017 Honda Pilot… no issues at 121k miles currently 6 speed
+MikesCarInfo Why not just review all the other trims since people cant afford Black Edition, Rtl-e, Rtl-t or Rtl. I understand if it's a Camaro, Mustang or other vehicle that has different engine choices. Nonetheless, It's still a nice Ridgeline.
+MikesCarInfo I mean I Thank you for the awesome reviews that you do but in a POV of a growing UA-camr, it's utter useless/pointless when you can just say "different trim offer this & that".
To those looking to add more safety feature on their Civic or other make car. Head over to our website www.BlinkingBrakeLights.com, you just might like what we have to offer. - Jeff
Rather than say that the fuel economy is not accurate you should say we have been idling the engine showing the truck off and you get terrible economy when you park and run the engine to power the AC here in the Southern heat. Get it on the interstate you should see 25 mpg city should probably expect 18 mpg or what ever the expected EPA is to be. I would suspect with the 3/6 engine toggle the truck should get pretty good city economy. The little mirror in the shades cubby is for when you have a baby in the back seat. You left out the actual economy of the vehicle I went to fuel economy.gov and looked it up for you. www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=37404&id=36919&id=37086
That is a good truck you get good in the middle economy with 3/4 ton capacity and towing numbers are really good. IF you need a vehicle that fits all 3 ranges the auto the PU and the SUV feel this is your ride. And gets respectable economy Honda is your ride.
nice vehicle.but two things bothers me. It doesn't look as good as it's midsize counterparts especially the canyon denali. . And it cost way too much than it's peers.
Please do not buy this junk, Honda insult us as consumer to invent this junk. I have a 2012 thinking the 2016 ridgeline will be better then the 2012. I'M very disappointed of Honda dealer. Please do not buy any latest ridgeline from them.

Thanks for sharing your experience Mark :)
Glad to hear that you enjoy your Ridgeline. Good decision!
Seven years ago today! Trying to buy one.
Wow this was an awesome in-depth video! I love how you showed it inside and out. Thanks!
You forgot the right turn camera the shows up on the screen when you put your blinker on. Other than that you did a great job to showing the truck off. I just bought one myself. Rides crazy smooth (nothing like a truck ride)
Thanks... I knew I was forgetting something :)
Thanks Mike for the best end user post I've seen.

Thanks for watching and your feedback :)
Excellent review Mike.
Its a truck-like crossover but Im digging it. I would get the black ed. :)
That was an excellent review very informative
Very useful vehicle thank to Honda
Biggest problem with the Ridgeline is the price. You could buy a great Tacoma or even a Tundra at these prices.
Two things are stopping me from buying the Honda Ridgeline....
1. The sticker shock!
2. Taxes in S. California, depending where you live, is now at 8.9%. That can add from $3,000 to $4,000 onto the price of the

Still planning to get the black edition.
Just ordered that exact vehicle in white w/ beige leather. Can't believe it doesn't include backup sensors, rails, or splash guards for $38K tho....
What is the height of the bed surface to the ground ? What is the length and the width of the bed to fit an ATV or motorcycle without putting the gate down ?
You can fit an ATV but only with the tailgate down. You can also fit a 4' sheet of plywood between the wheel wells.
I like this one too! This might be the one for me! I do love the black edition but can't afford it!!
Should give a demo of playing some tunes for us to see how well the speakers in the bed work
+Andrew Coulter this one doesn't have any speakers in the bed.
Hello Mike, when the vehicle is locked, is the tailgate locked as well ????
I think that is how it works... I didn't try it but I read that on websites.
+MikesCarInfo thanks for the quick reply. Keep those videos coming! :)
do I need to buy new WeatherTech floor mats or do the ones from previous model Ridgeline fit? the rears look like they would but not too sure of the fronts.
It seems unlikely that would fit well since this vehicle is a completely new design.
another question, is this truck made to compete with the f-150 and silvrado?
no
It's made to compete with the Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, And Frontier. (Chevy, GMC, Toyota, and Nissan)
I wished they had a moon/sunroof option! Would've been perfect. And also a long bed option.
They have one with a moon roof in a higher trim level.
This is one of my biggest annoyances with Honda. They force you to step up the the highest trim levels (RTL-E or Black Edition) to get a sunroof. It's kind of shady, considering how much this RTL-T trim costs. They at least should have included it on this trim too. Is that a full size spare?
I just bought one rtl-e
Do you still own it?
Does it have a 7 pin receptacle by the hitch?
Awesome video thank you
How do you think Mike Nissan rouge sl Awd is is it better then a crv
I like them both.
Nice review.
This thing definitely has some cool features but I can't get past it's "soft" look. Even my wife said she wouldn't drive it because it looks too much like a mini van. I went with the Tacoma instead but I can see the appeal that people have for this truck. It's really purpose built for the suburbs.
Trying to trade for one now!
Mike you have to go back you forgot the lane watch
nice video, but why is it dripping water??
thanks
Air Conditioning does that.
so its normal!
thank you
Happened on my 2007 Ridgeline. Completely normal
Air Conditioning draws heat out of the car and creates liquid condensation around the evaporator coils that is dispersed under the car in the form of water.
Ok, nice explanation.
thank you
Does that rear glass slide open?
Automatically, yes
+Spence Walton How?
Only on the RTL-E and Black Edition
The switch of the powered rear window is beside the moonroof switch if equipped. The one in this video isn't.
the music reminds of tron
Its from a great synth artist soundcloud.com/starforce/starforce-disrupted-cryonics
Idk care anyone says this is a nice truck
merci
Is that fwd?
Yes
does it have a power source on the back? at 8:11
No but the Black Edition does
ua-cam.com/video/MzAWS-LwCvE/v-deo.htmlm26s
Mike which SUVs would u choose land cruiser or Ford Expedition
Both are way out of my price range so i never considered that question before. I guess I would go with the Land Cruiser if money wasn't a factor.
Transmission needed replaced at 52,500 miles in mine, cost me $10000.00 loss on my trade in.
which year and transmission?
did you replace the transmission fluid at 30-40k mikes? My transmission went out in my Ford Fusion before purchasing 2017 Honda Pilot… no issues at 121k miles currently 6 speed
It's awesome you do review but why review the same truck?
+Chr Gav To show people a different trim level. Most people will not buy the Black Edition because of the price.
+Chr Gav That is what I plan to do.
+MikesCarInfo why not just review all cars then with each trim.
+MikesCarInfo I mean I Thank you for the awesome reviews that you do but in a POV of a growing UA-camr, it's utter useless/pointless when you can just say "different trim offer this & that".
I appreciate you not calling this a review since you don't drive it. I enjoy the features presentation nonetheless.
Even my test drive videos are not reviews. I try to avoid rating a vehicle or swaying other people's opinion based on my subjective (re)view.

thats is made with Nokia plastic
nice vehicle.but two things bothers me. It doesn't look as good as it's midsize counterparts especially the canyon denali. . And it cost way too much than it's peers.
Why does this remind me of the Honda pilot?
It basically is a Pilot with a truck bed on the back :)
