Amps like this are exactly my wheelhouse. These little 10ish watt combos for non-gigging musicians are the absolute sweet spot. Touch, feel, volume, character, all that good shit in an inoffensive little box. You don't need more than that.
Love what Nelsen was playing. That Oracle is awesome. And that warmly thing Jason does with the chroma console is a sound I've had in my head for ages.
Dumb Bass Player's take: The amp sounds soo (WONDERFULLY) clean - but also wide? and rich? - by itself, but that's its superpower! Once you add any kind of effect to it, it almost sounds like a 50/50 blend of wet and dry (or at least some hint of dry). Its break-up sound is FANTASTIC! It really has a lot of dimension to its sound, where other similar-in-price--or-design-but-not-in-country-of-origin amps sound boxy, nasal, stuffy or just gross. I couldn't agree more with Tia's and Jason's summation at the end, and I think this may have dethroned the PRS Sonzera for best amp under $1k (it can still be Vice Presid-amp, and I'll bet the Marla + Sonzera could make for a pretty wicked stereo pair)! Also, this episode had just THE BEST off-handed comments, great job y'all!
As I sit in my Oxford cloth button down surrounded by my IKEA furniture that complete me as a person, plug into a Marla amp. Marla, the little tube on the roof of your rig that would clean up if only you would stop driving it, but you can't.
Really great there is an option for an amp like this that’s sub 1k. I really loved Nelsen and also Tia’s contributions. At some point Tia’s reminded me of Xx really nice with the reverse minim.
This is all true! It does break up before a Bjr, but doesn't hit a fuzzy ceiling like the Bjr does at about 70% turned up. There is no reverb, and the Bjr reverb is pretty darn good. They are pretty comparable in db levels, I push that 6v6 pretty hard - love power section break up more than preamp break up. haha. Thanks!!
how does that saying go?... "you can tunafish, but you can't tunagibson?" Also Xander, what color is that SG? I can't tell if it's gold or blue. Regardless, that thing is awesome.
i'm still trying to break-in that SG. it was a case queen before i got my hands on it and it's not used to being played yet. this cold weather isn't helping lol. I'll try harder in the future i promise
@@MarlaAmps Thanks man. "Limeburst." I call it Margarita. I'd been trying to get one for a long time; they're usually priced a little too high because they were all scooped up by hedge fund managers.
@@realxandercuck it's not outta tune any more than any other gibson out there in the world (and im the biggest gibson fan there is). i didn't notice it when I listened and I've watched this video a few times.
Dang, sounds sweet to me. I especially like the cleaner tones. Also, I'm glad Jason didn't fully snap his own neck at the beginning.
Marla amplification ...we love you...
We love you too! I hope all is well Roy!

Huge thanks to the funnest people to hang out with at Gearfest!!!! Xander, Nelsen, Tia & Jason, yall are the best : ) Love this video!
You've built a magnificent sounding amp! Well done!!!
@@bassnsax Thank you!!!
So sick! Made right in our hometown!
I gotta have one of these amps. I wouldn't even start adding anything to it. 2 knobs. Hardwired and built. Lightweight Unbeatable price.
Ah, taking the Xander Path?
A very noble and commendable choice
Good stuff guys, your channel always makes it feel like hanging out with friends instead of watching youtube if you know what i mean. .Love it. Thanks
There are getting to be some great choices in smaller wattage amps these days. Glad to see a smaller builder get some screen time.
Marla and me 🎬

@@MarlaAmpsof course! Thank you so much for taking a peak at it! I appreciate your saying that ❤
What is that purple guitar?
Kramer Pacer
Did Xander Dad Rock?
Yep.
i had to google search "dad rock"...
...but at least i didn't use Bing!
no i uncle punked. it's a different thing
How is it 10 watts? Not 10watt clean. Nice sounding Princeto though. Not as loud as a blue junior and no reverb!

Xander needs a tuner though. 🤕

Funny enough, it's green
