The execution here is a little janky and unpolished... but I actually love the idea of this game. It has a lot of potential. Would love to see a more capable developer take a crack at it.
luke timothy I was thinking the same thing. The basic idea feels like a good one. Not sure if you could add an actual campaign to it...but it would be fun as a kind of open Elite Dangerous style "Here's the world, go patrol and work your way up" style thing.
Honestly, with quite a lot of polish this would be a pretty neat game. Based on the concept alone, I'd have bought it. Thank god (for Jim), however, that I am sensible enough to wait for reviews and gameplay videos. Hmm... RockStar? Get on this, will you? Make me a GTA 5 DLC where I can be the cops with this kind of idea of gameplay?
Josh Bryant And I would play GTA 5 on PC, with a police mod like this, if I had any hope it would run well on my PC. As it is, it probably wouldn't, so I'm "stuck" on consoles. But yes, rather than a mod, I'd love to see some solid development time put behind it and pay a few bucks. That's not to say a mod can't be amazing. I've play the LCPD mod, yes, and that was fun and well done, but still.
Jim, you actually lost score ever time you shot the vandals, 500 lost, and only gained about 60 per vandal plus 100 for the mission, so by shooting them you completed the mission at a massive loss... the concept of the game looks good, not that the game itself does...
A higher setting reduces the tendency of your mouse to stay up late, spend all its money on payday, sit too close to the television - that kind of thing.
This is quite impressive actually. If you're going to attempt an open-world game as a small, independent studio it makes sense to set the game in a small rural town.
There *was* a tazer you couldve used and yes killing the vandals netted you a -500 score on each shot which contributed to you eventually being fired. Dunno why im defending this shit game but I felt like pointing it out to all the people who said there was no consequences to playing the game like a real-life cop.
So, apparently vandalism is a shootable offence. Huh. No enquiry or anything. Just 'one less criminal on the streets'. Seems a little despotic if you ask me, but I'm not going to cause a fuss when Officer Sterling is on the beat. I'd better leave a like on this video, just in case.
Nope. Jim Sterling got -500 penalty for shooting without justification. The score of 50 and 30 for getting an ambulance and stopping a criminal is hardly worth it.
Exceedingly Dry Owl well that's what the cops are actually like man......COPS are nothing but BULLIES WITH WAY TO MUCH POWER......they can do WHATEVER THEY WANT WITH ZERO CONSEQUENCES....... They think that pathetic shiny metal on their chest makes them god.......I'm a homeless person just trying to survive and get by and all they've ever done for me is bully me and push me around......maybe because they're bored maybe cause they're insecure........who knows what I do know is if I had the chance I'd have all of them killed......every......last..........one.......
Layla tagge I don't mind any comments, usually, but yours should get in the trash were it belongs. Bullied or not you stop having my sympathy when you cross the line of "kill them all"... Or you're just another moron wasting my time by posting useless troll comment, but in any case enough with this shit already! 😣
This is actually quite an ambition game, shame it didn't have the staff and budget to be more. The game has heart, it really could have been something great.
...And other police too. I've seen many videos of police in South American countries shooting guys because they stole a damn bike. Literally, hes standing there like oh shit then the cop shoots him 5 times and stands above him as he bleeds out. Sure the cops in the US need a overhaul but the only reason they are regarded as shitty is because people *publicize* their bad experiences, cops get away with even worse shit in more economically crippled countries.
GameHopping This game isn't even close to being deep enough to have a morality system or even "bad cop" choices. You just get kicked out of the game for not following protocol which really is hilarious because it takes a lot for a real life police officer to get fired unless it has something to with a celebrity, then they're just lucky they aren't put on a stake.
Jeremy Masters But those South American countries are not first world countries like the USA. The police force of the United States gets compared to that of the European countries.
The fact that it doesn't have "simulator" in its name already makes the best simulator game of this year (well, if it really came out this year, which I'm not convinced). And the fact that it doesn't penalize you for every little tiny thing is quite nice. The graphics are balls, but hey, you can't have everything.
"All units, we've received a report that there is vandalism going on, no further info, kindly inquire passersby." The concept actually looks pretty interesting, but it needs some more work. A proper GUI would go a long way.
I love the idea for this game. But there's all kinds of little things you can still add to make it more interesting. Imagine randomly asking for ID and hearing the person say, *"Am I being detained?! Am I being detained?!"*
I love the sound asset of the cars tires. It's the sound of a tire very slowly driving over asphalt. I mean christ, they can't even get a decent tire on ground asset.
This is an interesting case. It looks like an actual game. Someone clearly had an idea and the know-how to make a functional game out of it, but this is what happens if there's no quality behind any of it. It feels like most of the game was developed on the "ah, that'll do" principle.
Does that mean that we are phallic shaped and we drive buses? Or that we are normal bus drivers who drive buses that are phallic shaped? I suppose it could be both.
I think this game is a neat idea... Just, being a police officer stopping crimes from vandalism to robbery. Imagine a game like Payday where you're the cops instead, maybe. Pretty rough around the edges though... To put it mildly.
The policing in this game is more realistic than in APB Reloaded which I might add could have been so much more of a game if G1 hadn't got their mits on it.
Also, there was a punishment (of sorts) to be fair. You lost 1000 points (500 each) for shooting the vandals. There were other options at your disposal too. Simply virtual police brutality. :P
What is with Al the meowing kittens in this game. Couldn't hear screens that time you asked. Also the game did subtract 500 each person you shot, but idk why it said "perfect score".
The last police game to be any good (LA Noire excluded) was Americas Scariest Police Chases for the PS1. This game looks a step in the right direction but really, who plays a sandbox game to follow strict rules?
Well, if a game was a police simulator it would *have* to be set in a sandbox unless it was linear missions. Hell, LA was set in a sandbox and it's incredible. Not really seeing your argument here.
True Crimes Street of LA, and NYC where more than decent in that perspective. Buggy yeah, but fun as hell (nothing is more rewarding than finding an AK47 in an old lady's purse). And as for the "who plays a sandbox game to follow strict rules?" the answer is just ROLE PLAYERS. I'd love that Enforcer game to be good...
I love the concept, a police where you have to balance work and family life. But I don't like how it actually ended up... I guess I'm saying I wish for a game like this, but good.
I really hope they intentionally made this game so wacky. Otherwise the developers would be incredibly incompetent and don't care about satisfying their customers.
Admittedly, even though the game is buggy, unpolished and technologically weak, at least you have to give kudos to the devs who have released several major patches (among other things improving the tracking of suspect positions on the map, possibly in direct reply to this video) since release and are quite active on the Steam forums. I haven't bought it yet, but I keep trying to encourage them to continually improve the game to the point where I'll buy it :) I don't want to sound unreasonably uncritical, but it's just nice to see devs who recognize the flaws of their game and actively try to fix them.
I'm convinced the screams of the people in this game are just recordings of cats meowing...
GiRayne That comment is gold.
Stephen D Yeah, of kittens to be exact.
The execution here is a little janky and unpolished... but I actually love the idea of this game. It has a lot of potential. Would love to see a more capable developer take a crack at it.
holy shits it the LMT
luke timothy I was thinking the same thing. The basic idea feels like a good one. Not sure if you could add an actual campaign to it...but it would be fun as a kind of open Elite Dangerous style "Here's the world, go patrol and work your way up" style thing.

Hmm... RockStar? Get on this, will you?
Make me a GTA 5 DLC where I can be the cops with this kind of idea of gameplay?
Indeed. Some polish and I might buy this one.
Josh Bryant id love to. but i have never been able to get GTA4 running. its a horrid port.
EDIT: Rephrased
If Rockstar employees make a game about not being a thug, their collar-bombs will go off, I'm sure it's part of the contract.
Josh Bryant And I would play GTA 5 on PC, with a police mod like this, if I had any hope it would run well on my PC.

That's not to say a mod can't be amazing. I've play the LCPD mod, yes, and that was fun and well done, but still.
MelficeSilesius How would putting a bunch of Polish people in this game make it neat?
Police can shoot innocent people with no punishment? This game is more realistic than I thought.
Jim, you actually lost score ever time you shot the vandals, 500 lost, and only gained about 60 per vandal plus 100 for the mission, so by shooting them you completed the mission at a massive loss...
the concept of the game looks good, not that the game itself does...
3:26 "mouse sensibility"
A higher setting reduces the tendency of your mouse to stay up late, spend all its money on payday, sit too close to the television - that kind of thing.
But he said sensitivity though...
Paul Dennett
but it said sensibility in the menu ;)
Pew pew pew, officer Chungus on duty. Crime is Down, doctors are busy. Everyone is living the life in Chungustown!
This is quite impressive actually. If you're going to attempt an open-world game as a small, independent studio it makes sense to set the game in a small rural town.
Do you get paid leave if you kill an unarmed black youth, or does that only happen in Realistic mode?
Or perhaps using real money to buy currency, that'll be given to you ingame in the form of a 400,000$ Gofundme campaign.
or get a promotion, either way.
Doom2Guy That is some master level baiting right there.
TheGreatRakatan "Masterbaiting" if you will.
Not funny. You racist fuck.
Jim's a true American now..
This gameplay accurately depicts what law enforcement is like, shoot first ask questions in hospital.
"Let's Cop this town"
Epic tagline for my new, original, police action television series.
Damnit Jim, you missed the "mouse sensibility" slider! Don't you want your mouse to be more sensible?
There *was* a tazer you couldve used and yes killing the vandals netted you a -500 score on each shot which contributed to you eventually being fired. Dunno why im defending this shit game but I felt like pointing it out to all the people who said there was no consequences to playing the game like a real-life cop.

It's officer chungus to you!
Nope. Jim Sterling got -500 penalty for shooting without justification. The score of 50 and 30 for getting an ambulance and stopping a criminal is hardly worth it.

This is actually quite an ambition game, shame it didn't have the staff and budget to be more. The game has heart, it really could have been something great.
I love Jim ignoring the "the fuck are you doing" -500 point messages but cheering at the +100 point "yeah I guess you did it" messages.
I wish it was still Oct. 27 2014.
Police can't just search you and demand I.D. lol
This is pretty accurate for the American police.
...And other police too.
Well, when questioning the innocent people, there should be an option to ask them how much money they have so the cop can take it...like in real life.

They clearly stopped working on this game too early. It really suffers from arrested development. Bam. I'm here all week.
It's been five years. Are you still here?
Is that meowing I heard in the last couple of minutes? Did I imagine that?
True realism, just like real police officers, you keep kittens in the trunk of your car.
"All units, we've received a report that there is vandalism going on, no further info, kindly inquire passersby."
The concept actually looks pretty interesting, but it needs some more work. A proper GUI would go a long way.
Just like a real cop Jim can barely hit what he's aiming at and he always aims at innocent people.
There WAS a 500 point penalty along with an admonishment to "be sure why you are shooting" both times you shot the vandals.
You seemed to really enjoy playing around in this sandbox. Thanks for sharing :)
I mean ... the idea of a switched up GTA isn't shabby at all. Give these guys a Rockstar budget and see where it leads us I say.
Kept saying there was no punishment for just shooting vandals but ignores the -500 point penalty.
-gets out of the car- "It's Officer Jim Fucking Sterling, son now place your hands behind your back and get on the goddamn ground!"
Not enough games have a mouse sensibility setting.
Another sign of corruption within the game industry.
I guess Jim didn't notice his giant negative score for shooting unarmed people.
is this the Wire thing everyone's talking about? looks pretty realistic
The random ladies screaming sound more like kitty cats meowing.
The adventures of officer spaghetti arms and the sensible mouse
I can tell by this video that Jim would be a brilliant police officer.
I love the idea for this game. But there's all kinds of little things you can still add to make it more interesting.
Imagine randomly asking for ID and hearing the person say,
*"Am I being detained?! Am I being detained?!"*
Chungus of the Ferguson PD!
Honestly, looks like a cool game. I'm all into police games.
We need SWAT 5!
And another Police Quest.
@@chubbycatfish4573 Wasn't SWAT a spin-off from the Police Quest series?
@@lehelisbored Yeah.
@@chubbycatfish4573 Cheers, I couldn't tell if I'm remembering that wrong.
There is an ad for children with cleft palettes in the upper corner of the page. Kinda disturbing.
Lol I love how Jim calls wife-beaters "vests". Adorable
It's actually a tank top
In the uk, they're vests.
Tank tops are normally sleeveless wool sweaters that you wear over a shirt.
I love the sound asset of the cars tires. It's the sound of a tire very slowly driving over asphalt. I mean christ, they can't even get a decent tire on ground asset.
This was simple based on what was shown but pretty good.
"bam bam badadam, gotta stop all the crime from happening."
OMG AHAHA, did you guys notice it said "Mouse SENSIBILITY"? hahaha
Oh! Now you tell me.
What am I supposed to do with all these Vin Diesel corpses now?
I'm not sure if I hear screaming in the distance or there's a bunch of kittens meowing from the trunk.
This looks entertaining!
This is an interesting case. It looks like an actual game. Someone clearly had an idea and the know-how to make a functional game out of it, but this is what happens if there's no quality behind any of it. It feels like most of the game was developed on the "ah, that'll do" principle.
"What am I? Some kind of animal" Can't stop laughing...
Aw man, that starting tip is my life's credo.
There's potential here, some things could be trimmed but overall, if a larger studio with more resources crafted this game, I'd pounce on it..
Jim is very.. Dread-y... in his law enforcement.
The voice acting is actually pretty dang good
+tim5fl Too bad it's barely audible
BLACKIESBOY Yeah true!
The policing in this game is more realistic than in APB Reloaded which I might add could have been so much more of a game if G1 hadn't got their mits on it.

Police Quest by Sierra Games is still the best police simulator ever.
hey this was released on my birthday, which is cool
I wonder why Jim thought shooting people is preferable over a tazer for a chase.
Or why not use the SMG while you're at it?
Hello you phallic bus conductors Jim Sterling here ...
What is with Al the meowing kittens in this game. Couldn't hear screens that time you asked. Also the game did subtract 500 each person you shot, but idk why it said "perfect score".
This reminds me of my favorite officers in video games the ones from Destroy All Humans 1 and 2.
The last police game to be any good (LA Noire excluded) was Americas Scariest Police Chases for the PS1. This game looks a step in the right direction but really, who plays a sandbox game to follow strict rules?
Good shout! I remember playing that game, spent hours on it !

Jeremy Masters I'm counting on this to be at least decent. It looks promising so far. policesimulator1013.com/
monsterfurby time will tell. Until then I recommend APB and the gta iv lapdfr or whatever mod.
When did Gerudo Valley get a police force?
Police brutality simulator
This wasnt all that bad actually... Needs a tanker-worth of polish, but the general idea is good
I love the concept, a police where you have to balance work and family life.
But I don't like how it actually ended up... I guess I'm saying I wish for a game like this, but good.
please do more deadly premonition!!
Sooo, this game is the exact opposite of Saints Row 3?
I s the title reference to the 80s movie Maniac cop ?
Helps to have a map.
"you can be on duty as long as you can" you dont say
Hmmm... It is a cool concept, it is interesting, tought very low production values...
Y'know, this is a decent concept for a game but just executed really shoddily. I'd love a game like this made by a huge developer like Rockstar.
Yes, ma'am, Officer Chungus, ma'am.
I love the name
Nice concept but what happend to the rest of the game ?
This game has an interesting premise... to bad it didn't turn out so good :(
Is the "Police Crime Action" subtitle supposed to be a riff on Metal Gear Solid's "Tactical Espionage Action" tagline?
+SixFootTurkey In which case they're doing it wrong. It's supposed to be "Jurisdictional Policiacal Action."
Great idea for a game... but sub-par execution.
The screaming sounds like cats lol.
"REEEEEEEEEEWMM" - Jim Fucking Sterling
14:00 Is that screaming or a box of kittens?
exclusive Alpha footage of Battlefield Hardline.
I really hope they intentionally made this game so wacky. Otherwise the developers would be incredibly incompetent and don't care about satisfying their customers.
This game is pretty much the Breaking Bad of Video Games
How are the driving lessons going, Jim?
This game looks really good.

I would genuinely love to play this game if it was just a bit less shit. We really need a cool police game.
Honestly a lot better then most of those shit games. This one actually looks like effort went into it
Realistically you should've been fine for killing that innocent person. America after all :v
You know, it has the underpinnings of a good game. Too bad its pretty obvious that they didn't have the money & talent to finish it.
i thought this was gonna be lethal enforcers for the genesis, lol.
Still better than LA Noir.
fine police work here
Is it just me, or does the screaming sound like meowing?
I want a good open world cop game...
