the famous "chicken in a basket" venue..not one of John Wellers best bookings..think Weller and the boys were that pissed off that they played out of their skins..awesome performance..thing that gets me is how a no frills 3 piece can play a tune like Funeral Pyre and yet sound almost identical to the single..amazing.
Paul was so brassed off with the very awkward interview with the gorgeous Swedish lady and her inane questions... he was angry and it spilled over into their fantastic live performance of Funeral Pyre.. there will never be another Jam
Lately I've noticed alot of Gammons in amongst the comments on The Jam pages. Were they always there ? I always thought The Jams fanbase mainly understood and agreed with the Wellers views.
It's certainly about NOW ! How strange it all comes around again after a few decades. The State "pissing their selves laughing" as the flames grow higher. The weak get crushed as the strong grow stronger . What with today's high prices ..... If the last two years haven't woken folk up to the lie then we have no chance .....
@@as-rm2nu indeed. I saw TheJam play the Tory stronghold of Berkshire at Bracknell sports centre in 1980 when I was 15. It wasn't about the politics, everyone just loved the music and the energy and the brilliant lyrics, even if people didn't agree with them. We all knew what he was singing about.
One of the greatest songs
I love the raw energy of this song.
Doesn't get much better than this !
❤
Check out the look on Ricks face as he swipes the crash cymbal at just after 2:00
I want this and Going Underground played at my funeral.

foxton and buckler smashing thru it, ah, yeah!
Brilliant. One of the best things on UA-cam. I wonder how many of the people who listen to this song understand what it's actually about.

Weller's perfect ode to the Tory ideology
