Sammy is not only one but definitely IS THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER.....EVER! Name one who can sing, dance, acts (in movies or Broadway stage), be a stand up comedian, impersonator and proficiently play at least 5 musical instruments out there.......NO ONE!
I saw Sammy Davis in Vegas in 1977. One word describes his show. Magic. It was magic! He sang, joked danced and was charming to the audience. What a priviledge to see him perform. Greatest performer ever. He could do it all.
Sammy was a warm and kind person! The city of Las Vegas, Nevada is a better place for knowing you! You are irreplaceable! Sleep well Sammy with the Angels! You will be honored and missed forever! Thanks for a lifetime of wonderful songs and performances! Thanks for posting this!
Not "almost" but it is! Sammy is THE BEST ONE-MAN ENTERTAINER EVER. Please name one who can SING, DANCE, ACT, BE A STAND UP COMEDIAN, IMPERSONATOR AND PROFICIENTLY PLAY AT LEAST 5 MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS.
The best entertainer of the 20th century. So sorry I never saw him perform in person. He was a beautiful song stylist with an absolutely gorgeous voice.
Saw him the '70s, he was all of the superlatives people gave him and more. Got standing ovations, thunderous applause. Still say to people his talent was quite unbelievable and his sensitivity and connection to the audience was one would call 'magical'. His ability to bring to life a song as intended by the writers and then add his 'heart' I have never seen/ felt since.
I don't think there will never be another Sammy. I saw him several times and he truly performed to the audience. One night at Caesars Palace, he was on for two hour, took requests and over achieved to entertain his audience. I miss him so much. R I P you are gone but not forgotten.
Incredible, amazing, there has never been anyone like him before or since. His beautiful voice, his polish, his professionalism, his elegance. truly one of a kind. Mr. Wonderful. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I met Sammy Davis Jr when I was 9 years old in 1976 after winning a talent contest in Chicago… he was such a super star…. And I love this rendition… so amazing.
As a child in the 80s so many of the stars from the golden era of Hollywood were still living but MJ, Prince, Whitney Houston are all dead, sad really…
I have heard of lot of Sammy's work, and I am still surprised. He is literally soaked in gift and talent even at this late stage of his career. Its impossible to be bored here. One is drawn in....One just HAS to listen what he is going to do with the next musical phrase. How close was he to the end here?
This was his last public performance on the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy telethon. I remember it like it was yesterday. What a gift he was to human kind. Unforgettable!
There's always a jerk who has to knock an entertainer. I'd like to see one idiot who gives this a thumbs down get up and sing these songs with such sensitivity and grace, let alone pitch.
Joe, you are man for this! They oughta teach this kinda stuff in school...Like a music class or dance class. Maybe that'll cut down on the dirty dancing that these kids seem to have to do no matter what kind of song comes on. Learn to have some pride about themselves bc its a damn shame what they calling music and dancing now.
I listen all the time to ‘What I did for love ‘ , by Eydie Gorme..(a superb rendition on the Carol Burnett Show…on UA-cam)..Like Sammy’s take on this song too..!!!!
I fell this is sammy at the pinnacle of his career, I believe this was taken from the special Two Friends with Bill Cosby,if so I would be pleased to find a copy.Noone has ever done it better. That why I am working on a tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. with a focus on his music outside of the Rat Pack, his talent was constricted inside the Pack.
Sadly, the word star is banded about to easily, these days. However, Sammy, Davis, Junior, was a real star, in every sense of the word. I don’t think we will see, the likes of an entertainer, as brilliant as he was, never again.
There will never be another one like him.Pure class.
Definitely one the greatest entertainers of the 20th century. Tap dancing, acting, singing, comedy, drama, Sammy could do it all.
Greg Zulak you forgot impressions
