Provincial governments can do their own carbon tax... but... it must be in line with the pricing set by the federal government at a minimum. This is probably because the province must still submit it to the Federal Government. I did see a map showing each province and the cost per ton. The entire country pays $80.00 per ton... except Quebec pays $57.00 per ton.
