Good Eats, the iconic series from Alton Brown, may be done but it will never be forgotten. This tribute was assembled by long-time GE editor Eric Bigman.
Good Eats is one of the few shows I can just watch over and over and over and never get bored of it. Honestly one of my favorite shows of all time. Not one of my favorite cooking shows. One of my favorite shows, period. Been watching it more or less since the beginning. Thanks AB and everyone involved with the show over the years, it's brought a lot of light into a lot of people's worlds.
I miss the show so much!! There’s nothing exactly like that anywhere. Some things are close, but not exactly the same. And it is because of Alton Brown.
It gave off the same vibe as the PBS shows I watched as a kid in the 80s (Sesame Street, Mr. Roger's, Square One, 3•2•1 Contact, etc), which was why I was so taken with it upon first seeing it during my early 30s. 🤩😊🥰
Curling up on the couch and watching good eats is one the few good memories I have from a rough adolescents. Good eats, and Alton Brown, are responsible for many an extra smile and laugh for me. And still is a show I go back to frequently. Guess I'm going back again now.
Me too, HUGE role! I eat every day, and I do it so differently because of the influence Alton had on me and on western cooking education and entertainment
I feel the same way. Good eats made me understand some fundamentals about cooking that made me able to consistently make good food, while being entertained in a way that I have not seen matched. If this is truly the end, then it will be missed . But hey, if they can bring back Futurama 3 times, I still have a glimmer of hope someday we will see new episodes.
Good Eats was the best cooking show of all time as far as I am concerned. It didn't just tell you steps to cooking something, it explained WHY you do it and it was hilarious as well. If it was still being made I would still be watching. I hope it is brought back again some day.
Good Eats is a show that is engaging, funny, educational, and (most of all) charming. You made something amazing with the Good Eats team, Alton. Thank you for creating something so incredibly entertaining. It will always be in my list of favourite shows I've ever seen. And that's a testament to the amount of love, hard work, and care poured into each episode by everyone involved.
Good Eats turned my interest of cooking into a love of cooking. I still watch and I always will. I introduced my wife's family to Good Eats on Thanksgiving and will never stop evangelizing the Good News of Good Eats!
Good Eats was always a favorite of mine, and when my son was born, he and I would regularly watch it together. He is now an amazing cook. Thank you Alton Brown!!
Hey Alton, my wife and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary... I remember as newlyweds how we watched "Cable TeeVee" and there was this guy we really liked who looked like Thomas Dolby from "She Blinded Me With Science." :D
Watched since the beginning, have re-watched many times in my adult life, one of my favorite shows of all time, thank you so much Alton and amazing crew!
I love and miss Good Eats. It’s not just the best cooking show, but probably one of the best TV shows ever. Its approach to cooking and entertainment is the basis for who I am as a cook today.
This show shaped my childhood, started watching and learning at age 10 from you. You’ve been one of my favorite chefs/people since. Thank you for being you Alton!!! You’re the reason I fell in love with the culinary arts and got my first set of cookwear for my 12th birthday❤cheers to many more dishes and lots of adventures! Wishing you, Elizabeth, and the doggos all the best!
By far the best cooking show of all time, in my opinion. In terms of entertainment and educational value nothing else comes close to it. Thanks for the hours of entertainment Alton.
The show was a family favorite. We watched every week and helped interest my kids in cooking. The cooking was fun and then add the comedy, history, and camaraderie...so many good memories. Great show.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! I live Good Eats! It was the best show! The only food show I watched and probably will watch. Alton Brown is the best! Thank you Sir!
It's the one show that I loved that I also watched with my young kids at the time. My son loved it and I credit both our love of cooking, and the wonderful relationship we have today to Good Eats. Thanks for the memories.
Good Eats is the reason I cook to this day. From watching it after school to DVR-ing every episode and now streaming it. Nothing but love for Alton and the passion he shares.
Shows like the Galloping Gourmet and chef's like Emeril got me interested in cooking. Good Eats showed me that it wasn't some mystical ability, and that I could actually understand why things worked the way they did and how to use that in my own cooking. Alton, and Good Eats, are 100% the reason I cook as well as I do today.
Still my favorite TV show…not cooking show…FAVORITE TV SHOW…of all time. I own all the AB books, have been to three live shows. My passion for cooking and science and critical thinking are 100% credited to those 10 notes.
I can still remember recording every episode of Good Eats to watch with my family growing up. It was fun, it was interesting, and it was a bonding experience. Science and food and entertainment done better than anyone else could. Thank you Alton Brown.
I was a professional chef while Good Eats was on the air. The chefs I knew spoke with utter contempt of every Food Network chef/host but two, Alton Brown and Sara Moulton. Alton because he really was teaching people and Sara because it took balls to go on every night live and try to cook while taking calls (and generally getting the dish right and answering the questions as well). Alton taught me more about some food techniques and the why behind some stuff than I learned in culinary school which has made me far more confident in my cooking than I was when I actually cooked for a living. It is criminal that the Food Network won't continue producing his show even as a series of specials.
As a kid who grew up on Bill Nye, Good Eats was directly responsible for me finding my love for cooking. I even bought the giant set of DVDs Food Network sold back in the day. Gotta be 30+ DVDs. Still have it and watch them lol. Good Eats also still takes up the bulk of my DVR space. Thank you, Alton.
My son and I watched every good eats while he was 6-7 years old. Now, every time we crack and egg on the counter we ask each other“who taught you how to do that?” And we respond “our buddy Alton.” Those were just the BEST shows and we still love them. Thanks Alton ✌️
I'm sad that the Food Network has mostly gone the way of competitions (including our own Alton). I really miss this show. My whole DVR would have as many Good Eats episodes as it possibly could hold. I wish it was still on. I'm baffled at how many people apparently want to watch cooks compete against each other using only 5 dumb ingredients. Or watch the arrogant Bobby Flay try to "master" something in an episode and beat someone who has dedicated their whole life to it. America needs to keep the home cooking alive. Like Alton said in this video, food is one of the few things that all of us have in common. And we need Good Eats. If only to teach Americans how not to burn their house down deep frying a turkey.

Great comment, and I agree fully!
Amen. A friend showed it to me around 2002, and I've been hooked on it since. Knowing the science behind the food made it all the more interesting.
One of the only tv shows my hubby asks to watch! Why, because he understands the reasoning behind combinations as you present them.
Same here!!!
Did it for years. And still do I watch reruns all the time almost every day we fall asleep watching this
I miss the show. Thank you Alton for Good Eats and making it fun and educational.

exactly
Same. Still have the cook books in regular rotation. Never know when you have to explainable what makes a biscuit a biscuit.
"If you can entertain people, you can infect them with knowledge"
I'm gonna live by that best as I can
worked for Schoolhouse Rock

Good Eats honestly played a huge role in who I am today.
Me too. I learned so much from Good Eats, it’s probably the reason I’m a foodie today and why we love to cook at home.
Same here❤❤❤
Me too, HUGE role! I eat every day, and I do it so differently because of the influence Alton had on me and on western cooking education and entertainment
Me too! I’ve always loved food, but now I truly appreciate it!
Good Eats is SUCH a 2000s show, so much life and soul to it!
Alton, I loved the show. Watched every single episode. Thanks for all the knowledge. My wife loves me because of you. Thank you.
I miss Good Eats.
Watching this video today on the 3rd year anniversary of my father’s passing. He and I always loved watching this show together. ❤

You left out the Eats part.
Good Eats turned my interest of cooking into a love of cooking. I still watch and I always will. I introduced my wife's family to Good Eats on Thanksgiving and will never stop evangelizing the Good News of Good Eats!
Still watch and love Good Eats all the time. Thank you Mr. Brown!
The supporting cast, the music, the food, the inimitable Mr. Brown - thanks!
One of the greatest TV shows ever. I still love it!
Thank you Alton Brown. GOOD EATS is the best show about food ever made. Just wonderful stuff.
Alton, this was the show that made me love cooking while I was growing up, a love that persists today. Thank you.

Watched good eats all the time as a kid and I love to cook now, thanks Alton
Dang it's like opening up an old wound...loved Good Eats!
Good Eats has taught me far more than any other cooking show I've ever watched
Hey Alton, my wife and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary... I remember as newlyweds how we watched "Cable TeeVee" and there was this guy we really liked who looked like Thomas Dolby from "She Blinded Me With Science." :D
It was the best show in the entire genre of culinary education. I wish it could've lasted forever.
I miss you, and miss Good Eats so much!! There are many excellent chefs/hosts of great and similar shows, but none like you and Good Eats, dear Alton.
You hit a home run,Alton, best cooking show ever and always. Laugh and learn, great TV
I still keep a full set of Good Eats on my HD, had a digital copy of the series for years. The show will live on forever......

One of the best shows ever on TV. I miss it.
I love and miss Good Eats. It’s not just the best cooking show, but probably one of the best TV shows ever. Its approach to cooking and entertainment is the basis for who I am as a cook today.
Good Eats is where most of us first found you, Mr. Brown! I know it was for me. Thank you for the memories!
Good Eats was/is a very refreshing take on a cooking show. I still enjoy it to this day.
Good Eats videos are still quality and I will watch them from time to time.
This show shaped my childhood, started watching and learning at age 10 from you. You’ve been one of my favorite chefs/people since. Thank you for being you Alton!!! I grew up watching this show, and loved every episode. Thank you, Alton, for giving me a love of cooking.
20 years ago I found myself in the unique position of teaching a middle school culinary class. I couldn’t have done it without you Alton Brown!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! I live Good Eats! It was the best show! The only food show I watched and probably will watch. Alton Brown is the best! Thank you Sir!

The tone of Alton's voice, the subjects, and the final product.
The best show ever. My husband, who doesn’t cook, loved watching it too
I learned so much watching Good Eats! Thank you Alton!!
My favorite of all time! Love you Alton and team...
I loved watching good eats throughout high school and college. Simpler times.
It's the one show that I loved that I also watched with my young kids at the time. My son loved it and I credit both our love of cooking, and the wonderful relationship we have today to Good Eats. Thanks for the memories.
I grew up with Good Eats. This show was a big part of my teenage years.
This show in its various iterations was the best! TYSM Alton Brown! Huzzah!

Good Eats is the reason I cook to this day. From watching it after school to DVR-ing every episode and now streaming it. Nothing but love for Alton and the passion he shares.
RIP to the best show on television.
We have most of the shows on DVD and watch them over and over again.
I loved "Good Eats". It still is ground breaking.. And there's still nothing like it.

Oh My God Alton, the feels I get from this. Thank you sir.
My favorite cooking show. Still good watching today as it was back then 👍🥃
I can still remember recording every episode of Good Eats to watch with my family growing up. It was fun, it was interesting, and it was a bonding experience. Science and food and entertainment done better than anyone else could. Thank you Alton Brown.
I appreciate everything Good Eats and you yourself brought to us Alton Brown. Thank you for being you.
Good Eats still remains my favorite cooking show of all time from childhood to adulthood, It is just plain fun to watch
I was a professional chef while Good Eats was on the air. The chefs I knew spoke with utter contempt of every Food Network chef/host but two, Alton Brown and Sara Moulton. I want to say that Good Eats should be required - the WHOLE SERIES - in every culinary environment everywhere.
I miss new episodes so much!!!!

Happy tears for such good Good Eats memories. I hope you know how timeless and well written your Good Eats is. Thank you, Alton Brown ;-)
Julia Child, Monty Pyrhon and Mr. Wizard all together. Perfect idea. You should be in the TV Hall of Fame!
"I know I just don't care a lil bit." is one of the funniest things I have ever heard ever. Thank you Colonel Bob.
Good Eats and Mr. Brown sparked my love of cooking and baking and will always hold a special place in my heart.
My son and I watched every good eats while he was 6-7 years old.
Now, every time we crack and egg on the counter we ask each other“who taught you how to do that?” And we respond “our buddy Alton.”
Those were just the BEST shows and we still love them. Thanks Alton ✌️
My heart is broken but my tummy is full. Thanks for everything Alton!
I really miss this show. It combined so many of my loves in life.
Alton Brown and Anthony Bourdain are the culinary role models I grew up with. And I’m glad I got to see them when I could
I miss watching Food Network exclusively for Good Eats when I was like 10 or something. I'm almost 23 now.
Same here

Absolute legend. Thank you Alton.
My favorite show of all-time, of any genre. Thank you Alton.
The greatest cooking ever. Been cooking for 25 years and I've learned more from Alton than anyone 🙏
