    Here is the raw unedited video of what actually happened on Poker Night in America between Alec Torelli and Daniel Wolf.
    This hand was played in April of 2016 in Pittsburgh and was also live-streamed on Twitch. At the time of it's airing, nobody seemed to have a problem with what happened (not even the rail on Twitch) and not a single accusation was made. It was mainly after Doug Polk distorted the raw tape by taking clips out of chronological order and omitting roughly 10 minutes of relevant footage, that the story went viral.
    Now for the first time, the entire hand, unedited is available so you decide for yourself as to what really happened.

      Alec,
      The one thing that I think is missing from both yours and Doug Polk's. The Floor and every one else's tutorial is that Wolf bet into you AND Gusak. Unless I am mistaken Gusak has him covered and is sitting right next to him with all chips in plain view. Wolf clearly knew that he was putting all his chips at risk..... just sayin... Peace

      that was weird indeed, but I think I would have reacted the same way. I don't believe there was an angle there, a mistake with chip placement, most likely, but I don't think it was intentional.
      a perfect gentleman might have folded due to the situation, but it's still poker and it's still a healthy amount of cash, there was no ruling from the floor, the hand went on, and the offer after it was done was fair if it got followed through.
      You guys, Doug and yourself, you should try and squash the beef, we're all human, we all make mistakes, I love both of you guys channels and you are complimentary, you just shouldn't be fighting over this, maybe have a chat together work this thing out, please.
      thank you

      @ConsciousPoker by saying "Ill give you a piece of me in a future cash game" did you mean a free roll of your winnings or just a straight up dollar for dollar staking deal.. which could end up costing him more money. This unfortunately turned poker into something else, certainly not poker, thats for sure. You come off genuine to me to give him a deal but he couldn't say anything without totally revealing his hand strength. JJ 1010 possible AK,KK possible...he played the hand bad but got put in a wicked bad spot. So what did you mean by the staking deal? you probably should've just gave him his money back if you said "You'll win this back as long as I don't die" You should've given him back 10k right then and there. Thats the extra money he lost and you still win a nice pot and you would've been praised.

      @Azuredrake7979 7 років тому +1

      Not to mention it's the first thing discussed as it totally screws Gusak to do that. Then they even ask him if it's ok, of which Gusak doesn't even say it is until much later. It's like people don't even understand what's going on in the video.

    • @craigborrenpohl1233
      @craigborrenpohl1233 7 років тому

      Wrong, Gusak's decision was to call or fold following Wolf's all in, the total value of Torelli's chip stack had only the very slightest thing to do with Gusak's decision. I believe what was discussed @3:21 was Alec suggesting that if Wolf just calls Alec's raise to $2,825 and they "run their equity" that would be unfair to Gusak - which I agree would be unfair to Gusak. But as I stated, I never heard any discussion about pulling the value of Torelli's obscured high value chips out of the pot. This would leave the pot at somewhere around $29k total and could have been run between Torelli and Wolf. I feel this solution would have been only slightly unfair to Gusak. If Wolf had made the bet what he thought Alec's chip stack was, say $15k, Gusak may have called or even gone all in but like I said, the true value of Alec's chip stack had very little to do with his decision following Wolf's all in. Just my thoughts and I's love to hear yours Terence.

    • @Azuredrake7979
      @Azuredrake7979 7 років тому +1

      After Wolf shoves, Torelli's stack size is irrelevant. The issue is that Gusak was going to shove if Wolf called or folded to Alec's 3-bet knowing that he had an extra 10k. At best, we don't know what might have happened, at worst, Gusek might have been able to take it down with a cold shove. It's clear that's what Alec is talking about when he mentions how Gusek might be tilted by his action getting screwed and didn't want to assume a deal with Wolf would just be cool with everybody, especially Gusek. To the main point, they did discuss it and no one told Alec it was cool. They just left him floundering in his mistake. Hard to make things right when no one wants to agree to anything.

    • @BAlvn-yr6ej

      that sums it up right there. i think Wolf actually was being strategic hoping for a fold (or that he had the best hand, against maybe KQ) and didn't want to make a deal. In his mind he might have read the situation as to his advantage and was thinking that Alec was the one that wanted to play lower because of his hand...a lot of poker players are very deceptive and think about all the angles.

  • @HobboTube
    @HobboTube 7 років тому +22

    I don't think you went out to angle shoot but:
    - Chips were hidden from most people to your left of the table
    - You weren't correct about where your chips were placed when you told the floor
    - Nobody at the table minded if you came to an agreement
    - You didn't offer any agreement, despite saying you were thinking about it.
    - During the chat it becomes apparent that his hand is weak and you use that information to your advantage
    I think this plays on your mind which then leads to the offer after the hand has finished. I presume you have watched this video. If so, have you offered anything to the other player? I'd be embarrassed about it to be honest. I think you should give back the value of the silver chips you had hidden, intentional or not. Otherwise you come across as just another chancer, rather than a class act, which you seem to have been up to now, which is one of the reasons I have been subscribed to you for a while.

    8:50 Daniel's rarely shoving with AA or KK. QQ is blocked and you can pretty much discount AK because of the way Daniel reacted.
    Therefore this is an instacall.
    Alec is taking his time because its all part of his act to make the situation appear more confusing than it actually is so as to disguise the fact that he failed to put his big chips at the front
    I mean seriously, when did you last hear a pro verbalize so much of their decision-making process?
    This is all so transparent that its embarrassing.

    Torrelli -"If I make a deal with you, I don't know if that's right"
    Floor-"That's up to you, you're heads up"
    Then you ask Gusak cause you know he's tilted...he says he doesn't care...You should've just actually asked the question DO YOU WANT TO DO A DEAL? but you didn't, and you tiptoed and the only way was if Wolfe asked for it, Wolfe lastly said before the discussion ends "it's up to you"...
    11:23 "That's why I offered you a deal" ... You didn't offer it actually. On a side note that Keith is a douche for interrupting and just keeps calling time and probably got in the way as they were maybe on topic for a deal.

    Terrible mistake by Alec. His high denomination chips were clearly hidden. I don't think he was angle shooting on national TV with AQ. He was not a lock to have the best hand. Wolf is not even partially responsible. You should expect your opponents to have their big chips in view. I like where Alec says in his response that being left handed had nothing to do with anything.

  • @davidchen9850
    @davidchen9850 7 років тому +7

    Honestly, part of this is the dealers fault as the dealers clearly had plenty of time to see Alec's chips being stacked incorrectly.
    That being said, this is a case of Wolfe not defending what he wanted; he should have insisted on either playing for $10k less if that is what he wanted, or else offered a gentleman's agreement for the winner of the hand to give $10k back to the loser after the hand.
    The floor leaves the solution open until pressed to make a final ruling.
    So, -0.5 Dealer(s) for not protecting the players from an illegal chip stack, -0.5 Dealer(s) for not noticing Alec adding $5k to his stack.
    -1 Alec for his chip stack, -0.5 Alec for adding $5k and not annoucing it, -0.5 Alec for not knowing/forgetting the rules regarding adding to his stack. +0.5 Alec for giving Wolfe and the other players a chance to influence the final decision in reaching the most fair outcome.
    -0.5 Wolfe for not being aware of his opponents chip stack before shoving, -0.5 Wolfe for not clearly stating and defending what he claims later to have wanted.
    So, overall I feel this is Torelli's error, but both the Dealer and Wolfe made important mistakes as well.
    In an absolute perfect world I would presume to pay Wolfe back the equity in the final pot of his hand vs Torelli's hand minus $15k (the $10k Wolfe was not aware of plus the $5k Torelli added prior to the hand without announcing as required).
    But in a perfect world this situation would have been caught and defused in the first place.

    lets break it down. I was asked to view this video by a friend who wanted my opinion.
    At :40 Torelli looks down at his chips and calls 475. At this point he sees his chips and could of done something to correct the way he had them stacked.
    At 1:26 we the viewers can see how Torelli has his chips stacked.
    At 1:52 Torelli moves his left arm and looks down at his stack of chips
    At 1:58 we the viewers can only see a small piece of the silver chips due to the camera view.
    At 1:59 Wolf goes all in.
    At 2:00 you see Torelli look down at his chips.
    At 2:12 Gusak folds.
    At 2:14 Torelli asks Wolf " So you got me covered?" at almost (2:16) the same time he is reaching for the 2 silver chips. At that time he flips the 2 silver chips into his right hand
    At 2:18 Torelli places the 2 silver chips on the table. And this is when the action stops till a call is made.
    IMO, Torelli knew exactly what he was doing and knew how the call would go due to YES Wolf should of asked for a chip count but again IMO he went AI and I do not think more chips were going to change his mind.
    Yes both men are to blame for the issue but Torelli is 100% wrong in the way he handled this. He should of fixed his chips once he saw the issue with them and due to him questioning Wolf if he has him covered after Guask folds tells me he knew exactly what he was doing.

    Shady. Sure looks like an angle. But even giving the benefit of the doubt, you should have offered to play for 10k less. If someone had a problem with it it , it would have looked a lot better for you because you would have offered a fair solution to him, one I doubt anyone would have objected to. So your lack of a meaningful offer to make things right during the hand, angle or not, speaks to insincerity, My reputation would be worth more than a poker pot.

    Definitely not an intentional angleshoot. Even Doug agrees with that much. From the unedited version you can see that the situation was more involved than Polk made it seem and even an entire untruth about Alec's claims to the floor on where his chips were, which is a huge deal when trying to determine motive. I don't dislike Polk, and I equally don't dislike Torelli. I agree that it's sad so much energy has been spent on something so negative from a year ago. For the record, anyone that plays poker with any regularity knows this can happen to anyone. Keep making quality videos Alec, they're appreciated by people who understand the nuances of the poker world.

    Go to 2:04 of the video. Wolf's chips are all in, and Alec's big chips are tucked away. Chips are in the same spot at 1:33 of the video prior to Wolf going all in. This basically means that during Wolf's time deciding what to do, he could not see those chips. I'm with Polk in that it was probably accidental, but don't try to save face by pushing blame on others.

    Not sure what I am supposed to get out of this, but from Wolf's position, you admit to having some responsibility, now he is leaving the game thinking that you possibly angled him and your response is to sell him a piece of you in a future game?? If you suspected someone angled you would you give them more money? Not sure how we are to be convinced that you are honorable here.

    Wolf should have just kept his mouth shut the whole hand and Alec would have folded eventually. The extra information got him to call.

    Whist this is clearly an attempt by Doug to discredit Torelli (a year ago this happened), the fact remains Torelli gained from having his chips hidden. The floor were reluctant the make a ruling "IF I HAD TO MAKE a straight ruling..." and it was clear the floor weren't stopping them making a deal and left that possibility open. No admitting from Torelli that he handled it badly, somewhat understandably but also somewhat too defensively after the fact. He did try to to soften and spread the blame - no admittance or apology for this. The before and after was clear in Doug's video to be aimed towards Wolf and the other players and he includes the showing chips to the floor...a point Torelli harks on about as misleading - it wasn't - both clips are included.

  • @scotrobinson6692
    @scotrobinson6692 7 років тому

    I like both Alex and Doug so don't have any bias. I think they both left out a crucial point here -- the actual hands and the intentions of each player at the time. From Alec's point of view, he only has AQ, not a no brainer hand to get it in with in this situation so does he really want the bet to stand? If he had AA or KK or even AK sure, he probably has a desire for all the money to go in given the mistake, but with AQ, he might just prefer the smaller amount. It's not like he knows that Wolf has AT. From Wolf's perspective, I think the reason why he didn't suggest that they run it twice and play for the smaller amount was that he realized he might just be dominated here and it was much more likely that Alec would fold for the bigger bet. Why else is he not suggesting a different deal when Alec is asking him what he wants to do. Everyone was very results oriented here. Alec did not know Wolf's hand and he in no way had an easy decision to call.
    Alec also is a bit guilty in discounting his own video and how it might have caused the backlash. Yes, he mentioned it here, but his video did not come off well and is likely the reason why Doug did his video and also why Wolf got so upset. Hopefully everyone can put this behind them and move on and I will be curious to see how Doug responds to this video.

I don't think that was an intentional angle necessarily but Alec 100% seemed to take advantage of the situation big time. The floor gave the opportunity to make a deal and Alec chose not to.

When they start the tournament the first rule is all your highest denomination chips must be visible to all players and must be on top of your first stack of chips or in front of all your chips. Very basic rule. How you do not see even if you did not mean to do this it is still unacceptable. I do not get the left handed argument. I am never going to be in a tournament with you so no worries about angle shooting.

    IMO if you just flat out admitted and owned up to what really happened immediately then this would of been an easy situation to deal with. Instead you tried everything you could to diminish what you did, therefore Wolf had to be careful how to answer questions and how to act cuz he couldn't give off how strong or weak his hand was. Not only did you win 20k off him but you were able to get a FREE read. You might have not realized it during the hand but after he asked you about your silver chips then you knew damn well what happened and you also know that poker etiquette 101 is to have your largest chips in clear view. If you just owned up immediately then all the other players would of never got involved and you could of saved 15 mins of everyones time.

If he had KK or AA or maybe AK sure we can discuss about angle shooting but seriously AQo?????? It was super tough decision for that amount with just AQo... Go to play live, have AQo and if someone shoves 400BB on you, just call.... U ll be probably dead.... "internet poker specialists".... I dont see how is Alec angle shooting anyway... 20k to him is 10BB in his regular cash game.... After careful review of the unedited events, it is obvious that torelli did break one small rule on accident, however the responsibilty lies with the dealer for upkeeping rules and with wolf for making sure he knows whats in somebodies stack before going all in. Alec comes off as very fair, honest and genuine in this footage and just because wolf isnt assertive in asking for some reparation does not mean alec did not offer it. Maybe itsm sucks what happened to wolf but itd be even more unfair to take the money away from alec forcibly plus illegal. Alec offered him some as an open offer in the future too, alec is a gentleman, clearly had no cheating intentions here and even offered to hlp the guy in the future, and i am proud of him. And for all you morons in the comments saying he was clearly angleshooting or that he wasnt fair, you are full of shit and wouldnt know a nice genuine man if he walked up and shook your hand and did you a favor, some of you people just want to burn and hang others for the fun of it wether they deserve it or not. You dont deserve all of torellis kindness and great videos, get off his channel permanently. Hes a stand up guy and did everything one could expect in that situation and more after one small mistake that nobody noticed until after the fact which is at that point on them. That was a good size raise but both Wolf and Gusak took you as weak. You had to get through 4 players - so unlikely that is a bluff. Do you think they put you as weak KJo? I put AQo at the bottom of your range so they need to rep AKs+. AKs+ should have re-raised the first round of betting in my opinion. Gusak gave away he had a hand so that put blockers on Wolf and you. Not just to get a count on you but to get a read he should have asked for a count. Not an easy call but I agree. When Wolf never asks to take back out the 10K it would make me wonder if he was actually strong. But if you proposed a smaller pot you would be announcing a call and he should decline to get you off the pot. I think you should have taken a smaller pot for risk management but only if he puts it you there. Do you really want JTs drawing out on you? In position I think Wolf had a good enough hand to just smooth call. Gusak I get jamming with AJs out of position.
