My Yamaha was clicking and not starting. Watched your video and found my positive cable to the starter was loose. Tightened it and she fired right up! Thanks brother!!!

Hi. Thank you so much. I work at a regional park with a golf course. We only have 4 carts, so they need to work. I am going to try this tomorrow. I sure hope it"s that. I like to fix our stuff. And being a girl, they like to be smarter. But I can do it. I will let you know how I do. Nice instructions.
I had a problem with my 2011 Yamaha gas cart. Thought it solenoid or battery. Battery was old anyway 5-6 yrs. New Battery, helped some. But after checking. Found it highly possible the gas pedal solenoid switch was hanging up and not kicking in on the solenoid . Before I spend $$ on switch I removed and rolled back the rubber boot and sprayed blaster and worked the switch for about 10 times. While I was working on that I also adjusted the gas cable there at the pedal about 2 rounds. To give a little quicker response when pressing the pedal. Tightened it up and replaced the stop switch. Everything at this point seems to be running much better. If the switch starts to hesitate again, I'll purchase a new one at that time. The gas pedal switch is exposed to the dust and dirt under the floor board. don't forget that if cart is not staring when pressing the pedal. listen for the solenoid to click. If no clicks or intermediate clicks, ck the pedal switch, too.
I have a 2002 yamaha golf 19.put on the brake it won't start. Wait a few seconds it will start. Put on the brake it won't start .it's taking longer to restart. I replaced most of the batteries and the silinoid. Any suggestions.
It sounds like your cart is in maintenance mode. Look on the back of your shifter under the seat there should be a yellow cup type of thing see if you can pull on it and rotate it
check for fuel, air, and spark an engine needs all then check fuse's then chase wiring. my cart the starter would run but the engine wouldn't kick over unless it was running on starter fluid i got tired of trying to figure it out so i did a 420 swap with a clutch that will idle while pulling the stock cart wiring after i did the swap i found a 10A fuse checked it. it was blown but its not all bad the 420 set up is much better and faster
Did you get it fixed. Sorry for delay. Didn't realize I had comments. Are you getting a spark? That could be a few issues. Check spark first. Then I would go to tracing the fuel. Lines. Filter. Pump etc..
Hi put my foot on accelerator heard a pop noise and nothing not even the fuel gauge is moving nothing battery all good is there a fuse and where 2002 club car ds
I think that's exactly what's wrong with my Yamaha I put a new pedal switch new starter two different use solenoids that I have and all I can get still is it to start up with hot wire running from the battery to the solenoid that's all I can get so far but it does run for about 10 minutes and I think the solenoid overheats from constant power
Hi can you help me I changed oil in a G16 but now the oil light will not go out it is right up. If the oil light will not go out will that make it not start and run? Would the oil light being on would that stop the cart from running
Sorry for the delay. The sensors are known to go bad on those carts. If you changed oil and level is good, I would remove the bulb . If you want to change the sensor its pretty involved on those but when I get a job on one ill do a video on it.
Do you have a gas golf cart or an electric? Also when you turn the key and step on the accelerator pedal do you hear a clicking noise from the solenoid? In short basically the solenoid closes a gap of two contacts on a starter motor on a gas golf cart to allow a jolt of electricity to go through to engage the starter on an electric cart it's sort of does the same thing but since the voltage to a controller motor. Check your battery if you are really low on voltage perhaps around 0 then the problem lies elsewhere if you have full voltage in your battery then it's likely you're solenoid that's acting up
Put your charger on it and press the peddle. It will go then. Just let it charge. I need to find out if there is a stator inside the starter or a rectifier somewhere that is suppose to keep the battery charged next.

Extremely helpful. Thank you for simplifying for those like myself that are less than mechanically inclined!

Very helpful yet a question for you no power to switch as well try to start by short out
is the charger working?
Quick question how can I test my cart if it want crank in gear but in neutral it runs fine once it gets going it does good as long as it's out of gear
It sounds like your cart is in maintenance mode. Look on the back of your shifter under the seat there should be a yellow cup type of thing see if you can pull on it and rotate it
My issue is starter cranks but it wont start. I noticed the check engine light doesnt flash like the one you are working on.
I had lights and a horn that worked on that same cart. They don’t have work now. I can’t find where the fuses are in this cart. Help please.

I have a Yamaha G9 gas cart that will turn over on the starter but will but will not fire and run on the engine....Thoughts?

Good troubleshooting job
I have to hit my solenoid every time I wanna ride it what do you think I could be
Do you have a gas golf cart or an electric? Also when you turn the key and step on the accelerator pedal do you hear a clicking noise from the solenoid? In short basically the solenoid closes a gap of two contacts on a starter motor on a gas golf cart to allow a jolt of electricity to go through to engage the starter on an electric cart it's sort of does the same thing but since the voltage to a controller motor. Check the power in your battery first. If it doesn't have sufficient juice going to the starter it wont work. 12.1 IS TOO WEAK. 12.9 GOOD TO GO.
Put your charger on it and press the peddle. It will go then. Just let it charge. I need to find out if there is a stator inside the starter or a rectifier somewhere that is suppose to keep the battery charged next.
If mine is reading 11.5 should I charge it? If I put the pedal down for around 10 seconds it finally runs like it is. Thanks
My Yamaha golf cart turns over but won't start right way
Did you find out your problem?
