16:25 so true. the show is so dense but at the same time never feels rushed. this is why i never get tired of watching reactions for this show, theres so much to unpack and so many small nuances and details you can get from rewatching. you guys have been so on point as well I really enjoy your commentary. The thing about scharf and his lego spell combo was something I never thought of but makes a lot of sense. this could just be a coincidence but another fun detail I like to believe is that Wirbel's group probably had an easier time finding a stille precisely because they were already mostly out of mana
Glad you've enjoyed the reactions! I might've said it in one of the next episodes but I totally think Wirbel's group being low on mana played a factor in it working out for them at the end. Glad you brought that up in case we didn't cause that is an awesome little detail - Matt
Damn, looks like I picked one episode too early to jump back in... 😅 Will have to wait a week for the first test's conclusion now... I'll probably wait out the rest of the season now, for one last binge.
People often remark on Frieren and Fern's icy demeanors in combat as a psychological factor, but composure is also a factor in a mage's skill. One reason meditation is such an important part of mage training is that focus affects mana control. Fern's unnerving calm literally makes her a more powerful spellcaster. Also, I hated Richter too in this episode, but by the end of the season I actually found him to be the most relatable character. I think right now he's just in a really stressful, high-stakes situation and his baseline grumpiness is cranked up to 11. Denken was a similar situation; I didn't trust him at first, and by the end I was rooting for him so hard. When this show introduced SO MANY new characters all at once, I was like "there's no way I'm gonna care about all of these people" but damned if this show doesn't pull it off flawlessly. 🖤
@@MattxWillow Taken as a whole package, there really is nothing else like it. I've been into anime for 30 years (off and on) and this became my #1 all-time favorite almost instantly.
Thanks for the shout out! ❤

I'm sure I'd be grumpy too! This show is 10/10 when it comes to developing all these "side" characters and making them feel complex - Willow
