Spider-Man is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, he first appeared in the anthology comic book Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962) in the Silver Age of Comic Books. He has been featured in comic books, television shows, films, video games, novels, and plays.
Spider-Man's secret identity is Peter Benjamin Parker. Initially, Peter was depicted as a teenage high-school student and an orphan raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben in New York City after his parents Richard and Mary Parker died in a plane crash. Lee and Ditko had the character deal with the struggles of adolescence and financial issues and gave him many supporting characters, such as Flash Thompson, J. Jonah Jameson, and Harry Osborn; romantic interests Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, and the Black Cat; and enemies such as the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Venom. In his origin story, Spider-Man gets his superhuman spider-powers and abilities after being bitten by a radioactive spider. These powers include superhuman strength, agility, reflexes, stamina, durability, coordination, and balance; clinging to surfaces and ceilings like a spider; and detecting danger with his precognition ability called "spider-sense". He builds wrist-mounted "web-shooter" devices that shoot artificial spider-webs of his own design, which he uses both for fighting and for web-swinging across the city. Peter Parker originally used his powers for his own personal gain, but after his Uncle Ben was killed by a thief that Peter could not stop, he began to use his powers to fight crime by becoming Spider-Man.
When Spider-Man first appeared in the early 1960s, teenagers in superhero comic books were usually relegated to the role of sidekick to the protagonist. The Spider-Man comic series broke ground by featuring Peter Parker, a high school student from Queens, New York, as Spider-Man's secret identity, whose "self-obsessions with rejection, inadequacy, and loneliness" were issues to which young readers could relate.[8] While Spider-Man was a quintessential sidekick, unlike previous teen heroes Bucky Barnes and Robin, Spider-Man had no superhero mentor like Captain America and Batman; he had learned the lesson for himself that "with great power comes great responsibility"-a line included in a text box in the final panel of the first Spider-Man's origin story, but later retroactively attributed to the late Uncle Ben Parker.
Spider-Man is one of the most popular and commercially successful superheroes.[10] He has appeared in countless forms of media, including several animated TV series: the first original animated series Spider-Man, with Paul Soles voicing the titular character, a live-action television series, syndicated newspaper comic strips, and multiple series of films. Spider-Man was first portrayed in live-action by Danny Seagren in Spidey Super Stories, a recurring skit on The Electric Company from 1974 to 1977.[11] In live-action films, Spider-Man has been portrayed by actors Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, by Andrew Garfield in two films directed by Marc Webb,[12] and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Tom Holland. Reeve Carney originally starred as Spider-Man in the 2010 Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.[13] Spider-Man was also voiced by Jake Johnson and Chris Pine in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Last year, I met the voice actress of Firestar at a convention. I told her how Iceman had been gay in the comics since the mid-2010s, and I asked her what she thought of that, and needless to say she was very surprised.

I think a recent comic also referenced Amazing Friends by having Spider-Man, Iceman, and Firestar teaming up, but unlike the show (I assume) the three didn’t work together well at all, it went so badly that Spidey said that they “should never team up again”. Also when he was swinging away, Peter even called the two “my amazing friends”

With the 81 show I actively searched for it online as a kid and thought it was cool that I found something obscure, it’s not something I go back to but I really dig it for being the first pretty good attempt at adapting spidey.
Amazing friends is fun nostalgia, the spidey origin episode was fire, and it should be worth note that it might be stan lee’s first “cameo” being the narrator.

I didn’t even know 1981 existed. I grew up on Amazing Friends, 1994, and a bit of Unlimited.
Also, I can’t hate on Green Goblin from Spidey and his Amazing Friends because it’s the first traditional Gobby in animation since Spectacular.

I would actually loved to see concept of Spider-Man pernamently working with some young heroes that are not at the same level like the Avengers for example in modern interpretations. Maybe MCU Spider-Man joing Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan, that would be pretty cool!

The '81 series is my second favorite Spiderman cartoon next to the '67 series. I especially like Ted Schwartz's voice as Spiderman. Dan Gilvezan did a fine job too but there's just something more youthful and world weary in Schwartz's performance to me😅

I use to watch Spider-Man and his amazing friends faithfully every Saturday morning at 8? I think….maybe 9? But I loved it!!!! Of course I was 6 at the time but I remember the Hulk came right on after it and then it would be around time to go outside and play out what I just watched with my friend Mike who lived just across the street from me and he would be the Hulk….his favorite and I would be Spidey…,my favorite and we would tie in the episodes to our play time and act it all out in an out door adventure! Great great great great times…..still the best!

I love Spider-Man and his Friends it's such a great work of art because it has great voice actors and sort of cheesy song choices and wacky slice of life moments.
Spider-Man 1981, is sort of good for that parker luck scenarios but in my opinion I prefer amazing friends over 1981 at least for me.

A lot of producers miss the fact that the 81' solo series was meant for syndication while Amazing Friends was for network broadcast on NBC Saturday mornings. If no station you were capable of watching purchased the solo cartoon then you were almost guaranteed to never see it while NBC affiliates were all over the country and absolutely would be showing Amazing Friends on Saturday mornings. Being born in the late 70s, Amazing Friends was my first exposure to Spider-Man, and it would be my only exposure to animated Spider-Man until the 94' series. I only found out that the 81' solo series even existed because I stumbled onto it on Netflix in 2011 and I was shocked I hadn't heard of it before.

@@TolietWater IMDB lists first air date as September 12, 1981, the same day as Amazing Friends.
