Update: surgery went well! I am a week and a half recovered and it's been been rough and kinda up and down but every day gets a little better and I'm trying to be patient. I am glad I got the surgery - I don't think I realized how much dysfunction was down there until it got fixed, LMAO

@Freaky0Nina this. My grandma is dealing with an infection of Klebsiella pneumoniae because the rehab facility somehow didn't clean her properly when she had a bad BM. But I've heard that you can get this from staying in soiled underwear. Thankfully she just finished the antibiotics and is at home.

    • @bcaye
      @bcaye 6 місяців тому

@@sheshiechan, I'm sorry to hear that, I hope she is completely fine now.
I don't know your grandma so am not familiar with any mobility issues she might have.
But I can tell you that I have seen Code Browns that sent me to buy treats for the staff having to clean it up. It gets *everywhere* and if the person has trouble standing, moving and balancing everything gets more complicated.
I'm sure they did their best for her. Klebsiella is pretty aggressive. I'm glad she has you to help her.

Not only is fighting SI caused by chronic pain common, I think it's compounded by not being able to be open about """embarrassing""" problems. We should all fight this stigma, it makes it easier for everyone in the long run!

Yes! And maybe someone has a doctor who blows off their concerns/pain! Cue *the more you know* I assumed my symptoms were hemorrhoids (which.. they were), but after spewing all the other interesting poop facts about myself, my doctor ordered an upper endoscopy (EGD) and a colonoscopy. Colonoscopy diagnosed, yup, hemorrhoids. But. No cancer... bc those symptoms? Could have been a number of things, including cancer.
(Did lose a few polyps in the process and get to go for another in a few years, but it's really not as bad as you think *at least mine wasnt... with SuTab!)

I relate to this so much. I have my first appointment with a neurologist in two weeks to see what can be done about my migraines. Being chronically ill can make you feel like life isnt worth living, because honestly? Its hard to do anything when youre that uncomfortable. Dizziness, vertigo, nausea, GERD, migraines cause way more issues for me and many others than just a little headache. And the worst part is, with a lot of chronic illness, people cant SEE the problem, so they dont know how much it truly affects you. And then you're made to feel weak or attention seeking.
Im so happy you've found a possible treatment to help make life easier for you. And I'm really glad to hear you're healing up well. I love and support you, and I hope you continue to improve!

I can totally relate to how intense chronic pain can effect your mental health. I had scar tissue on my spinal chord after disc prolapse surgery... The moment I got up was the moment I fell screaming and crying to the ground for over half a year. The brain is not build for this. I had s* thoughts almost every day. Not because I didn't want to live. I couldn't bare living anymore. And it's talked about way too little. People are expected to be normal when their live basically consists of pain and get on with it. I am with you. Best wishes for your surgery. Mine saved my life when I eventually got it. ❤

    1. I am dyyiinngg at how Jen clarifies everything that Kristin says, immediately after she says it 😂
    2. I also love how Jen knows so much about the surgery, and Kristin's poop/butt issues. What a great friend. lol
    3. I love that Kristin was willing to be vulnerable and share her story because I'm sure that so many other people are silently dealing with stuff like this.

Kristen, thank you for sharing your experience candidly. I’ve had ✨hot girl tummy issues✨ for a decade now and have experienced lots of stigma from the medical community and just people in general.
My symptoms suddenly changed 10 months ago to chronic constipation and my GI dr won’t offer any treatments other than daily laxatives. I went three full weeks without a BM even after drinking two full colonoscopy preps. The pain is unpredictable and often debilitating.
I’m so happy for you that your surgery went well. I hope it’s able to alleviate your pain and allow you to live a fuller, happier life! ❤

I'm really grateful to you for being willing to share this - it is SO helpful, for any problem that feels embarrassing - not to mention that chronic pain can destroy your life without you being aware of the full impact.
Also, can I just say that Jen is such a real friend. The dynamic between the two of you is healing just to watch - thank you!!

Good luck with your recovery! My dad had this surgery in the 80s. The surgery was a total success, but the tight ass jokes continue to this day. Now that you have explained how rough it is to struggle with this problem, I feel terrible for teasing him (well, mostly...). I appreciate your great explanation. Happy healing!

I haven't had the same issues as you, but also had an "embarrassing" issue of massive, painful hemorrhoids, which I had to have procedures to fix. It does suck while you're in the middle and dealing with it all, but if it helps in the long run and you can live in a more "normal" life, without so much pain, totally worth it. Glad it went well and hope you're feeling better!

I had this same procedure about 6 years ago, and called it "butt surgery" as well!! All your stories sound identical to mine. The surgery saved my life. But it's so hard to talk about it, because people don't want to hear about it and I wasn't emotionally stable enough to deal with any non empathetic responses. I do not understand how I kept going to work during that period of my life. Thanks for talking about this - I have always appreciated your honesty.

One of my old teachers from almost a decade ago had this surgery! At the beginning of every year, she would tell us her name and that she had this some years ago because it got to the point where it was literally do or d*e, and that she would occasionally pass gas just randomly as a side effect.
As a kid, we all thought that was whack and haha what a funny side effect. As an adult who has seen the effects of gut disorders and the toll it takes on my mates, I appreciate her honesty with us more and more. Thank you so so much for talking so candidly about this, and all the best for the rest of your recovery!!!

I've had ONE fissure after a surgery, where I got prescribed a lot of ibuprofen and antibiotics (and no one told me ibuprofen can cause severe constipation). The pain was EXCRUCIATING! Thankfully, treatment with creme, stool softener and non-constipating pain medication helped me. Unfortunately, it's chronic, but it doesn't bother me anymore, so I decided I don't want/need surgery (yet). I wish you all the best for your surgery! ♥
