Southern California mountain communities on alert for incoming Hurricane Hilary storm

- Mountain communities in Southern California are bracing for potential flooding from Hurricane Hilary, which is expected to make landfall as a tropical storm this weekend. Hilary, which is churning off the Pacific coast of Mexico, is expected to reach California on Sunday as a tropical storm with heavy rain and large ocean swells.
“Rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches, with isolated amounts of 10 inches, are expected across portions of southern California and southern Nevada, which would lead to significant and rare impacts,” the National Weather Service said. “Elsewhere across portions of the Western United States, rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected.”

1) iirc they call them tropical cyclones in the Pacific for some reason or other
2) the West Coast rarely gets them but when they do it's usually further north, essentially never in Cali.

California should build a dam to capture all that water to keep the flooding down, stop droughts and fight wildfires. You haven't built one since 1976 which is equal to not building any roads since 1976.

You know like every other state that California has been stealing water from for the past 100 years has done. If a bunch of hicks in Utah, Nevada and Colorado can do it, California can. Enlist all those brilliant people that have figured out how to save the world from a one degree rise in temperature 100 years from now with $100,000,000,000. Or let the Army Corps of engineers do it for a billion.

My aunt and her husband and my cousin her grandson live in Yucaipa I pray for there safety this rain from a tropical storm is wild and wicked I know hurricane season ends in November but wow what a way to start a tropical storm here in California by the way am in Los Angeles so praying for everyone safety and well being!🙏🙏🙏

I made the mistake of buying a new house in a 55 and over area - called bonterra At woodforest in montgomery Texas.
They dug my front yard into a hole at what was the top of the hill.
Then - when they saw my Extreme Propensity to FLOOD - and foundation damage - due to their NEGLIGENCE - - instead of honoring my warranty - and buying back that piece of crap - they elevated 2 newer houses near me.
They sent most of the runoff from at least 2 sides of those houses - directly toward me.
When I attempted to protect the house from FLOODING - they had their hoa file suit against me.
I am hoping we NEVER get rain in Texas - - until that price of crap - is not in my name.
I love Oak Glen and it’s so sad to see them continue to get hammered by such terrible fires and storms.

Be prepared not scared! Know where you live if it’s flood prone; put away anything that might fly. 40mph winds can definitely rip up roofs and send patio furniture flying; and trees can come down.
