- California is bracing for its first tropical storm in almost 80 years as Storm Hilary heads towards the US.
The Category 4 storm has already brought rain across parts of Mexico as it churns off the Pacific coast.
The system could make landfall in California on Saturday, with warnings of "catastrophic and life-threatening flooding".
Meanwhile, Canada continues to evacuate parts of British Columbia and its North Western Territories due to wildfires and Hawaii continues to recover from a deadly wildfire on Maui.

I live in Phoenix, Arizona and we are ❤❤❤❤ welcoming this storm! We've had 115+ degree heatwaves ALL summer and no decent rain for MONTHS!! This tropical storm is actually really good news for us. Here in the southwest, we've been battling a drought and we're totally cool with lower temps and a good soaking. Bring it, Hilary!!

Luckily, most residents of S. California won't be impacted too negatively. There will be flooding in some places but the real impact will be the storm surge. For those at the beach, their homes will be swamped or fall into the ocean. That's OK because there is plenty of warning so there shouldn't be any loss of life. Those homes are well insured so owners will have minimal loss (they won't be able to buy insurance after rebuilding though) so it's all good.

As a windsurfer I looked up the windspeed history for Kailua Bay (no sensor at Lahaina) around the time of the fires. If the msm was saying there were strong winds that spread the fire........ I don’t see them.
even people on the ground that survived the fire confirmed the winds were increased for several hours before the fire began.

Nail up windows and doors. If you have a multi story home prepare to go to the top floors. But you also have to worry about tornadoes from this so being on the bottom floor if you can during a tornado warning only if the bottom floors aren’t flooded.

I'm right in the middle of the path about 1hr and half from the coast and in between L.A and Palm Springs. I'm not quite sure how to prepare since we've never had to and I've got a sick mother fighting cancer at home. any suggestions?
@@jcrwzr although many say it will hit California directly as a tropical storm like in 1939. It could weaken slower than projected and be a category 1 hurricane before it makes landfall in California or right when it makes landfall.

Hurricanes are a correlation of high water temperatures. Cloud Seeding doesn’t effect water temperature to that degree.
